I use a charcoal chimney to start my charcoal. Just some newspaper under it and give it a few minutes to get going. I put it in the bottom and put charcoal over it. works great, I have not used lighter fluid in years.

I am thankful you posted this. I've got a smoker very similar but never gave rabbit any thought. I just processed a batch - think I'll give it a try. I use one of those chimneys that someone else posted about - not quite as fast as lighter fluid, but works w/o fluid and fairly quickly. Thanks again for the video!

hi Duke! a suggestion to stop using lighter fluid is called a chimney starter. they are sold at some hardware stores or you can make one. it works great for a grill I don't know about your setup because you have to flip the hot coals out and remove the chimney starter once coals are red. to make one yourself take an empty metal coffee can and cut the bottom off. then use a can opener punch and put holes (the triangle shape can opener punch) around one end every few inches. it's that simple. to use put end with holes down, was up a good bunch of newspaper and put it in can with your charcoal on top. light paper thru the punched holes then give it about 20 minutes or until coals are red. CAREFULLY dump ( get a glove or wire or fashion a handle on it). top with more charcoal and your good to go. the draft effect from the"chimney" design starts the charcoal burning. had worked every time with no lighter fluid for us. good luck and God bless.

Duke if you want to try a different method of lighting your charcoal try this roll a news paper into a funnel bend the pointy part over to seal it place it in grill/smoker and pile the charcoal around it should kinda look like a volcano put about a cup of vegetable oil in the news paper kinda get it all over the place and light the paper. Sounds like a lot of work but in reality it only takes about 5 min or so.

It would be like eatin a sponge with all that old grease and dirt on it lol.

WORM GITTER Hey, I am living in Asia right now, I want to buy some bib overalls, But I have to order them on line. But I have never bought them on-line. • @WORMGITTER

you go by your waist size and length of pants. add 2" to the waist and you should be good, my length is 32 and waist is 42 so I wear a 44x32. If you go to Roundhouse they got charts that tell you what you need. If you stay with your pant size they will be to small. I like the zipper fly myself... take care buddy!

WORM GITTER Thanks Duke, that was going to order, But didn't want make a mistake without checking with someone else. Good thing to remember zipper fly would be an important issue for me. When I watch your videos makes me feel like I'm at home, I do miss home. Had to leave 15 years ago just to get a job. Now I have been gone so long. To go back home again would be like starting over for me. That's would be impossible at my age, as I don't really have any family left not much of a point to it.

Looks like I'm a few months too late. Dang it! When is the next batch coming off the smoker? I use red oak to smoke meat too. Lot easier to get my hands on that than hickory. I just cut up a nice piece of firewood. Smoked a venison hind quarter cut into strips a little while back and I'm thinking about doing the other one soon. It don't last long, but if there's any left I'll bring it when I come down for some of that rabbit.

Paint Thinner works Fine for me . Some in the bottom of the pan , dribbling some on top letting it burn off . Don't have to soak it all down , leaving after taste in it . Thanks be
