Smokey was the poet laureate of Motown. My favorite song of his is a toss up between "cruisin'" and "being with you".

America's GREATEST Living Poet. Smokey is a national treasure. The Godfather Of SOUL Music. Have still never heard a better voice grace the mic. Untouchable. If U still looking 2 really get into his music... I, personally, started with " The Ultimate Collection" by him and the Miracles. I would say ALL the albums he did with the Miracles are essential. Motwon doesn't get any better than that. Of his solo albums... "Quiet Storm" & " Where There's Smoke" I would highly recommend. All that being said... the man is out on tour NOW.. go see him while you still can. Keep these vids up ✌️

I was fifteen when this came out. This was required at any decent basement party. You cannot slow dance to the beatles, who I love.Motown had this covered. The emotional heart of the 60s is to be found in this music.

Smokey Robinson was in a group before going Solo. The name was "Smokey Robinson and The Miracles." My father was one of The Miracles and co-wrote this song with Smokey. Thanks for the post xoxo

Wore out my Smokey 8 track in summer of 69'. Drivn' the GTO with my main squeeze and not a care in the world. At 70 yrs. old still remember those softer, gentler days.

If you were a Teenager in the 1960's and you wanted to get Romantic with someone Smokey was your Man as were The Temptations He also helped create a Musical Genre called "Quiet Storm" in 1975 that has featured some of the most Romantic R & B in Music. If you were born in the 1970's you may have come into the world thanks to Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, Barry White, Teddy Pendergrass, Donny Hathaway or even The Isley Brothers. Even today his Music is legendary with Advertising for products like Walmart, Burlington Coat Factory, Raisins, Colgate Toothbrushes and over the years some of the biggest names in music have either Sung or Covered his Songs. The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Young Rascals, Kim Carnes, and The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Marvelettes, En Vogue and The Jackson Five. In The UK one of his earliest Compositions "Who's Loving You" is now the most popular Audition Song on The X Factor. He along with The Isley Brothers, Paul Anka have had Hits in every single Decade since the 1950's.

Thanks guys. I asked for you to do this and you listened. Nothing like the young Smokey...and again, that ain't falsetto. That's Smokey's voice. I had the pleasure of seeing Smokey 5 times during that period. Listen to any version of him doing "Tracks Of My Tears", "Shop Around", "Tears Of A Clown" and "Quiet Storm". One of the great voices of his age. Now try Jackie Wilson doing a live version of "To Be Loved" from the old Ed Sullivan Show, a lip synced version of him doing "Lonely Teardrops" from the old Dick Clarke's American Bandstand, and a lip synced version of him doing "Danny Boy" for another of the great voices and performers of his age.

OOO BABY BABY is by THE MIRACLES… NOT JUST “SMOKEY ROBINSON.” You young people really need to READ UP on your Music History. BOBBY, PETE, and RONNIE are right up there next to Smokey. why are you only crediting HIM ? THE MIRACLES are in the ROCK and ROLL HALL OF FAME . Why are you IGNORING them? Pete Moore is one of THE MIRACLES Read up on the HISTORY of Motown’s FIRST GROUP, THE MIRACLES. Smokey was just ONE of The Miracles. Start HERE: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Miracles?wprov=sfti1#
