In fairness it is many teenagers first steps into fragrances - mostly to cover up after stinky Gym class. Yup I used to wear Axe too 'Essence'. I didn't know a single kid in high school who would wear cologne after Gym Class ... That expensive lil bundle was for going out.

Dark temptation started me out on this fragrance journey, so it'll always hold a special place in my heart

A couple of years ago, they released for a limited time, a collection of three Axe Signature scents. They had a normal sprayer and weren't that bad actually. My favorite was Oud Wood & Dark Vanilla. Not too shabby for a cheapie Axe scent.

Yep, called 'Lynx' in the UK. Can't really abide it as it reminds me of youngsters who spray 2/3 of a can on themselves! Interested to hear what you think....

You just gave me a healthy dose of nostalgia with this one lol. Had all three back when I was in college and had basically no fragrances. These roots do make sense for me though as my favorite fragrance is Y EDT which is somewhat fresh in a similar vein as Apollo and Phoenix. My girlfriend at the time LOVED Dark Temptation (Chocolate Axe) hence why it became my signature fragrance between the gel and the spray and got me into gourmands. Makes me appreciate the more grownup versions of it in Victory (and Elixir) and Pure XS Night.

I had a can of Phoenix that expired in 2004, I kept if because it was the old design and at this point it was just cool to know it was so old. My mother threw it out without my knowledge and I was so annoyed because she never asked me and she never throws out something that is not hers...😡

Dark Temptation i only just smelled it i did smell Phoenix in the mid to late 90´s no longer out in Denmark, i tried some fresh, citrus once Epic Fresh, one called Black , Alaska maybe more Wild Green Mojito & Cedarwood , Wild Fresh Bergamot & Pink , Africa, Ice chill,

I always wondered why they never seemed to move past the body spray line and get into colognes or EDTs. Nautica Voyage proves you can do good things at the $15-20 price point... I wonder if some of their scents would work in cologne or EDT form with a decent budget behind them.

Used to use and wear 'Voodoo', but they discontinued it, so i went to 'Snake Peel'. Then they discontinued that. Then i started using 'Apollo', because i liked the woodsy-ness of it. Now i use L'Occitane

I kinda was expectingg video for AXE :D So much new realises tho my Favorite is Wild Mojito & Cedarwood.

In Europe we have axe billionaire shower gel that is my favorite and smell similar with JPG Le Male Elixir And it smells amazing.

Y absolute favorite is Excite, a coconut, caramel and hazelnut very sweet fragrance, great!

Here in the UK Lynx have just released what look like some great new fragrances, Black Vanilla, Blue Lavender, Aqua bergamot and Emerald Sage. They sound interesting, I don't usually use these body sprays but think I'm going to give these a go!

When I was a kid in the mid 90's, I remember a great Axe we all loved. It was Axe Atlantis. Don't know if it was a worldwide release.

Touch and Essence were 2 of my favorite when I wore Axe. For a body spray, they were pretty good in both scent and performance.

Touch was my absolute favorite in music.

mirage, java, musk, spice, magic amber a oriental were very good. all discontinued at the end of the 80s, except the magic amber which is sometimes available in german speaking countries. from the old times, only axe marine and africa survived.

Back when I was still an Axe bodyspray kinda dude, these three were my top 3 and I'd spray them liberally. I still have a can of Dark Temptation as a room spray.

My fave Axe was always Kilo. But my fave overall body spray, which I actually keep in my car for air freshener, is Fiji by Old spice.

I switched from Axe to the original Hugo Boss fragrance after basketball games my Freshman year. It's how I got to sit by the cheerleaders on the bus ride back to the school. 🤣

So weird, I was looking up the axe sprays yesterday trying to remember what I wore back in high school (phoenix and essense) 😂. Looked up the new stuff and might be ordering the leather and cookies soon.

I used to wear Axe Dark Temptation more than 15 years ago, and it was my favorite back then (my mid 20s). I don't use deodorant sprays anymore, but I still very much like the smell of Dark Temptation, and I use it in a form of a shower gel occasionally. Might not be fresh, but it is very nice smelling. I also like to eat dark chocolate, so...

loved dark temptation as a kid. been looking for a while for “adult versions” (higher quality) of these fragrances, to no avail. saw a comment once that bad boy extreme reminded them of dark temptation but definitely not to me. i actually kind of feel like fragrance world jack of clubs smells vaguely like an axe scent even though it’s supposed to be a la nuit del homme dupe

I don't know if they still make it, but Sneakers and Cookies actually smells really good

If dark temptation was an EDT or EDP id wear that stuff every fall and winter !

The EDT does exist

The scent DNA of many Axe fragrences are good in my opinion, but the quality is what it is, airy and gaslike.

All the Axe scents that I've actually liked are long gone. Hot fever, cool metal, and instinct were the only three I've really lived.

I have too many designers to wear Axe. You just get to the point in your hobby that this kind of stuff becomes obselete, and you feel like you're wasting your time wearing these things. Very sad

@@lamartthompson9250same. I have always given my undercarriage a good hose-down of either axe or adidas body spray. It keeps me feeling fresh and there is a layer effect.

I was in the gym in the locker room a while ago and these two teenage kids were having an axe war. It was literally like chemical warfare.

Reminds me of gym class in middle school and high school, but in highschool it was half and half with a lotta oldspice too

I sprayed some axe anarchy for him in a decanter, got rid of the gas inside the can and I let it rest, so that the alcohol fumes got out.... it actually doesn't smell that bad, sweet youthful fragrance. :)

i used to wear Instinct in HS as a kid bc it was the one my crush really liked at the time. Eventually it got discontinued tho, i think i switched to Excite for a bit, then i stopped wearing Axe Spray. But bodywash i still use Apollo.

Apollo is discontinued in the uk and the one i preferred when i was younger was lynx oriental which they also stopped making many years ago

Get your hands on Sacre Bleu by PAA . It's an EDP tribute to aqua velva blue. Basically takes the DNA and uses higher quality ingredients amps performance. It's fantastic.

I keep back ups of dark temptation I absolutely love it , but if they ever make an edt version I’ll stop keeepinh the body sprays

Not sure why everybody keeps talking about Axe lately, I used to wear that stuff back when it first came out and then I just never touched it, for me it just doesn't seem like it's worth talking about so I'll just stick with the fragrances

Loved Apollo too when I was young. And Clix. Unfortunately, they axed the pheonix and apollo fragrances for the stick deodorants during the pandemic and replaced both with a cheap, dark green soapy sage scent. The pressurized cans I think are still in tact. And some of the other brands actually increased their range. 😆 Dark Temptation still the best deo to pair with Mugler scents. 💪 Ps, wouldn't mind getting your take on a few from the Old Spice line Ash. Imo, they're better.

Afew years ago a well meaning friend (broke girl) bought me Phoenix i used it as a room spray untill empty or lost..Yesterday i happened to have friends over and used Boss Bottle 6 as room spray

I tried a few Axe sprays for Christmas gifts and feel like I got PTSD, I couldn’t even get it out of my mouth(I did not have my mouth open), why are they like that?! So intense I feel like it got into the fiber of my being & I can still smell it to this day if anyone says Axe. ROUGH!

I tried a few of these years ago. Didn't like Phoenix at all, extremely harsh, probably strips paint. Can't remember Apollo at all. Dark Temptation, however, is magnificent - It's Invictus Victory for broke teens or divorcees all living in the same house, sharing rent, 7 pickup trucks out in the street with ATVs parked all over the dirt "lawn".

Try Axe Gold ... their oud spray or better yet their body wash. It is hard to find, in any of the versions ... body wash spray or deodorant.

U should review or talk about designer brands’ deodorants, there’s like nobody talking about them and ik most brands that make cologne make deodorant versions of their cologne like le male, and Invictus. They also all have shower gels and oddly, aftershave, all of which r just things that nobody on yt has ever seemed to talk about lol

Unless you were gifted cologne in your youth, practically everyone started with some kind of body spray. As a teen, my favourite was Conviction, but I think it was discontinued.

The best DNA is the Kilo/Africa one. Kilo is an OG and I was pumped to see the comps to Roja Apex. Of course I blind bought FW Vertex thinking I’d be able to own a refined Kilo/Africa and was so deflated when I realized their only similarity is that they’re men’s fragrances. Guess I should never trust Fragrantica 😭😜😂

I thought Apollo might have a strong oud smell because of Apollo's relation to the moon 😉 For those who don't understand my comment...think Revenge of the Nerds or consider the fact that moon can be used as a verb. Wow, now I sound like a nerd 🤓

There is a new axe commercial where they have basketball players blind test axe versus Tom Ford tobacco vanille. They choose axe and they're like yeah, it's better than designer! Even though nobody would really wear the Tom ford in that setting.

I saw the Blue Lavender one at Walmart and said, why not. It smells nice actually and last roughly 3 or 4 hours. I think the aerosol delivery system gives all the axes that kind've stick in your throat hairspray ickiness, but it seemed to dissipate with in 5 minutes. It smells like Ralph's Club Lite to me.
