Smell of Attraction - Science of Attraction

Science suggests that the smell of a person can influence your attraction to them. It is a scientific fact that we can be biologically disposed to a certain type of person based on their smell. In this Channel 4 Science of Attraction video (introduced by Derren Brown and presented by Kat Akingbade and Charlie McDonnell) we'll take a closer look by taking some young couples paintballing!

Smell is really important in the law of attraction towards other people. We might forget the people in our past but suddenly remember them because of a particular smell. A smell is like a trademark as a person. Smells good or bad but that is basically other people will gonna remember you.

when 1 out of 5 becomes 20% is not a satisfying conclusion. I'm not sure why, but their videos keep telling me that their samples is not big enough to make out that percentage. Using 1 out of 5 might makes a better impression.

Smell and strength has always attracted me. I actually fell in love with my husband when I noticed he was stronger than most teenagers our age. We went to a summer camp together for school and a bunch of boys were playing tackle football , one by one the guys would tackle each other and hit the floor hard. A couple of times he caught the ball and I kid you not 4 guys couldn’t take him down literally had two dragging on his legs and he didn’t go down. Our instructors were also impressed. I remembered wanting to be around him more and so attracted to his scent. He’s always been a sweaty guy but, I didn’t mind. We’ve been together for a decade and a half with a big beautiful family. I’m certain his sweat has been a contributing factor in my attraction to him as he’s always been a hands on kind of guy.

7 years later, but I have had multiple women tell me they liked my b.o., no lie. First time I just figured she loved me and didnt care, but in my next relationship.. I'd be in dire need of a shower when I got home and when they go to hug me I'd say ayyy you might want to wait til I shower 😂 then got the same reaction. I don't give a fuck about deodorant anymore honestly. But now that I think of it, I got above average immune system for sure. Never knew the correlation 👀 til now! Interesting stuff.

As mammal females are more traditionally inclined to sort out their mates, selecting worthy genes to pass on whether males are all about seeding as much sperm as possible and aren't too picky about it, it's possible the girls could've 'smelled' some info pertaining to good health/genetic make-up ...however the doc doesn't acknowledge that nutrition has a great impact on our natural smell. The contestants' usual diet (and what they ate last) could have been used to explain the results too

And i found out after drinking like 3 strawberry banana smoothies that day my jizz smells like strawberry and vanila. Diet really does impact your body odor.

what you ate can also affect the way you smell... like garlic for instance. then again some people like that smell while others don't, but if it changes the person's scent enough the smell could be better or worse without that factor.

One confounding factor that would have effected the results is diet. If one person ate healthy food and drank a lot of water that day, but another person ate smelly food and didn't hydrate properly, their smell could be considerably stronger.

There have been several experiments which I've read about which "support" their hypothesis (tested on hundreds of women), I don't think a youtube show would have the time/money to invite dozens of couples over and pay for their paintballs, furthermore I don't think the viewers would have the time to watch all of those people make guesses.

I think it depends on if the partner wears a lot of fragrance so you never really hone in on their natural odor. You also need a specific time because for females it does change with cycles, but the component of an individuals scent is very unique to them no two are alike. They are inherited from both parents and yes they do control it. Though nowadays, we wage war on any kind of funk or off putting odor.

Once again I am shocked at the way Science of Attraction is going about things. Why on earth was it necessary to have them do paintballing? That was a fantastic way to completely contaminate the smells with the smell of mud (which was even pointed out by one of the girls). Why not just put them all on treadmills for 15 minutes? These results are completely useless because no thought was put into genuine scientific testing. Why is there never a control group too?

the 70% wouldn't come from the 5 samples directly it depends on the amount of people more than in the number of samples... just like if you have 5 choices and 100 people, if 70 people choose the same sample it would be the most liked with a 70% of the total of votes

Even with millions of people, some people may never get into a relationship. We are not much more different than any other animal or organism on the planet. We are not that much more special or loving than other animals. Unless we can one day seperate ourselves from our biological roots and have 100% free will, there will always be people who suffer from severe loneliess and chronic social isolation.
