@@reck0n3r D'arcy? She was so full of herself while in the band, which led to her quitting. She became a wreck. She got into drugs pretty bad and got cosmetic surgery done. Google her and try to find some recent photos of her. She's unrecognizable. She's super negative and full of resentment. Any interview she's done over the past 20 years she just complains. Despite her negativity, Billy gave her several chances to rejoin the band, but she refused. He was doing that for the fans because he knows so many SP fans would love to see her back. She's not interested though. Do a bit of googling and you'll see.

@@alukuhito Appreciate the update. That's rough. Sometimes it's hard to blame people because a lot of these situations are due to bad childhoods, not necessarily even being poor, but experiencing some form of neglect or abuse, so drugs become an outlet, and a very understandable one. Most of the world turns to becoming corporate soulless zombies instead, which is generally socially acceptable. This isn't to say D'Arcy probably f'd up somehow, but the other side is that at least she didn't turn to exploitative corporatism. But then again, I guess everyone's got a story. It's unfortunate that she didn't take Billy on his invites, but maybe she has her reasons. Appreciate your update though and I'll do some googling to see what's up...though I bet a lot of it second and third hand stories. I'm still super thankful for her part in SP. Hopefully she can recover from the other issues.

For sure. Billy admitted (Rogan podcast) he was often dismissive of the others' contributions because he was the strongest personality and embraced taking the creative credit, media attention, adulation, SONGWRITING money, etc. So he quickly became more famous, richer and more of a controlling presence creatively, promotionally and business wise. Everyone became disenchanted with each other and they began suing each other. Now that Billy is older, he has a healthy perspective and has tried to mend fences -- and make money for everyone -- but some wounds won't heal. Even in the 90s, how many MTV interviews did poor James just sit silently through and stare at his shoes? 😆

the bits in this where d'arcy, drugged out of her mind, is talking and Corgan is listening or looking over at her as she talks are actually kind of heartbreaking. he's observing the ruin of a loved one in real time. check around 1:14 for example. his eyes are sad as he watches her talk. she's on another planet. And in the bits where she tries to interact w him here he won't look at her and never cracks a smile even when she's smiling and trying to act like a bandmate. They do not feel like bandmates here or like they're on the same level or in the same place. He's sober and doing well and she's going a different direction. Sad video.

I guess you're seeing what you think you should be seeing, because I don't see that at all. He's attentive and listening to what she's saying. This interview they are both professional and focused, none of the snarky stuff that sometimes happened between them. The band got on well during this whole period, it only started falling apart again on the Arising! tour and the recording sessions for Machina.

@@johnniea4684 No, I'm seeing what's on the screen. He's looking at her and he's sad. I nowhere said or implied he wasn't being attentive to what she was saying. And lol at saying she is 'professional and focused' here. She's on six kinds of drugs in this interview and looks and sounds crazy. And no the Pumpkins never got on well.

@@HockeyNationHD She sounds exactly like she always did. Even Billy says she and James were doing drugs as far back as 92 when recording Siamese Dream. I'm not claiming to have some mystical power to detect what a person is thinking from looking at a video, which I think you are tbh, influenced by the knowledge of what would happen later. The band got on as well as it ever had recording MCIS and Adore, nobody said they were tight or anything. For Adore the workload was lighter and the touring not as extensive, which D'arcy was very happy with.

Not sure what makes you think that, she looks exactly like she always did facially here. This is her real face. She's just high and not wearing eye makeup. The surgery started before their last little tour w her in 99 I think it was. She showed up to that w her lips huge and ruined and weird, wore really weird outfits totally unlike her (cowboy hat and sleeveless band t-shirts), and acted and looked like she was high on who knows what. She's super high in this clip but still has the pretty face God gave her. To my eye, anyway. I'm not privy to her medical records. But yea I think the lips were the first thing, and that happened between this and the 99 mini tour.
