I'm gonna take this chance to say hi before it's too late. Hi! I was around the age of 12 when I watched the animations you were in like the Undertale one, so you sort of bring some nostalgia to me. I'm 18 now and have tried doing voice acting myself. It was also an honor to have worked on a project with you, a small Casting Club Project I'm sure you don't even remember, but I always liked the funny auditions you did on that site. My favourite thing about Toby Fox is knowing that Alpharad reached out to him so he could have the licenses to some of the songs Alpharad would use in sponsorship segments due to companies asking if he owned the music he was using. Toby just told Alpharad to lie to them. Like not only did he not care he used his music nor charge him to use it, but then just told him to lie to corporations. Very cool Toby.

This is because he uses it in his sponsored segments, and sponsors were starting to figure out that the song wasn’t his. Toby’s response was “well everything I use to make the songs is public domain and the compositions are all online, so hypothetically if you were to perfectly recreate the song you can just tell the company that you made it!”

I think i know what happened. Toby Fox has associated with a company know as materia music publishing that has been striking videos that use Undertale/Deltarune music, against the wishes of Toby Fox. Laura shigihara has even spoke out about them(having worked on 3 Deltarune songs). I think it very likely judging by Toby Fox reaching out to them. Although I'm not 100% sure, i could be wrong but i doubt.

Lmao, I actually animated 3 and a half of the first season Undertale parts.(and that was it for Smashbits for me) I did the segment with the "jelly thing", the frog, and the other segment with boat guy to Alphys' house. We only had a week to get things done, so a lot of the animation was rushed like crazy. I tried my best to make it look somewhat better, and even made some scenebuild models/skyboxes(which my ex helped with) to make it look more in part with the game. It was overly stressful. Though I picked as many Sans and Papyrus parts as I could because I loved animating those two. Good experience for time crunch, I guess, since I was new to animating with a team at the time. I still have my original videos before they ruined it with cuts and music changes. I also put as many Touhou references as I could in the background. They're in nearly every shot.

This is the first time I ever seen anyone stand up for Sackboy in Racist Mario. Everyone just wants to speak for stupid Knuckles and child Anakin, not the one who can't even speak.

I just want to point out the commitment the team had on the MCSM series, the channel was dead on like three separate occasions and was only brought back just to pump out a new episode first and foremost

Fun Fact: If you want to hear more of DexterManning, you can actually hear him in some fan made manga styled stories on youtube. Heard him voice some characters on them every once in a while. For example "Attack On Mika" His vocal range is impressive, but no worries usually each video has at least one voice in it that is obvious.

Ah man, Smash Bits, Dorkly, and Mashed and others definitely shaped my taste in humor today. I’ll be 18 in a few weeks and it already makes me feel hella old that a lot of these videos will be turning 10 years old soon

I've been following Dex's content ever since The Creatures was still a thing, it's nice to see people being so supportive of him here. He's always been pretty funny, his music is nice, and I genuinely respect how much work he put into making Flappatron

Fun Fact: SmashBits new Overwatch series was originally supposed to be released in 2019 on that Machinima channel network, but since they went defunct the series was just in limbo until recently. I just find that interesting ya know.

Hey, As you mentioned it's me, the sonic and shadow guy (also known as the coomer guy now a days) I worked on the funny animations such as Sonic and shadow 3-5, the cuphead series, and my favorite, Persona 5, I got some answers to these things and am willing to provide more within reason if you even chat interview, whatever within reason, but I'll spill some beans So, the reason why the first few Sonic and Shadow episodes are 25 minutes long is because they're actually compilations of 3-5 minute shorts that used to be on Machinima. But yeah, the sonic and shadow animations, those were my first big jobs like, ever, and really taught me a lot about animation, and I'm really glad I did them (and the money they provided me :^)) But yeah, Ricky would have me draw a version of the thumbnails SOMETIMES and then have the thumbnail guy come in and do a better drawing of my art, which I didn't really mind, because his art actually WAS better than mine. But yeah, I will say Smashbits as a company is doing well enough for itself since now they're animating for FGTV toons, they've pretty much moved on from the channel at this point, and moved on from me to, now priorotizing more so rigged and tweened animation, something I have absolutely no training or experience in. ALSO!!!! Dexter Manning and I did work on ANOTHER channel called Bantermations! Which you should also definetly check it out!!!! But yeah, in closing all I can say is, looking back, my god I wish I got to work with Dexter Manning more, some of the writings for those videos got pretty painful (It was all by the flirting route guy) There's a kingdom hearts one that got pretty racist and I'm glad it never came out. Also yeah, you valid on saying fuck Flashgitz, holy FUCK I'm so glad I worked with Smashbits over them.

I hope Dexter makes it big and gets hired in a big project, he deserves all the recognition as possible

Man I miss SmashBits Animations so much. I remember being 8-9 years old watching their videos (ik I wasn’t supposed to watch them when I was that young but I really dgaf). Then they stopped uploading consistently (like only once every few months other than uploading every week). They give me so much nostalgia

Fun fact: I actually met the VA for Toriel and they're a really nice person. I accidentally left my phone after taking a selfie with them on the table they were doing signatures on. They left the table, found me in the second convention hall and gave me my phone back. Uh yeah that's my contribution to class, have a nice day

Interesting note about the MSM finale is that it was definitely made in 2022. At the beginning of the video (2:09) Tetra says it’s 2022 and remarks that Jessie can’t say off-colour things anymore. At 20:24 in this video, she’s about to say the same thing but it gets cut off, making it sound like she’s saying “2020”. Really strange how it took them four years to make a follow-up and how it ends with a weird reference to Final Fantasy 14. I honestly miss the channel, I watched the MSM series over and over again without realizing anything that was being said it because I was a dumb kid. Also, Dexter Manning carried the channel on his back.

Dexter Manning is a funny voice actor! I used to watch these animations a bunch when I was younger so in some ways I sort of feel nostalgia towards him. I was trying to get into voice acting last year by joining projects on Casting Call Club and surprisingly Dexter auditions for a lot of projects on there. He could be on bigger projects but he's always auditioning for these really small roles for these really small projects. In some ways I'd get jealous cause he'd probably always audition for someone I was going to audition for. I even ended voicing on a project that he was also in, but I never had the chance to say hi to him. Wish I could say hi to him, though! He also sometimes sends in funny "troll" auditions for nonsense casting calls on CCC which I always find hilarious. I've since stopped auditioning for voice acting roles for a while now. Anyways, shoutout to Dexter Manning! He's a great VA!

What was it called?

hi former smash bits animater here, i physically worked at the studio for 2 years, had a blast working there. i animated the mario kart is realistic series, overwatch is realistic and a few other things like the pizza delivery thing. the studio was more then just a youtube channel we did actual work for other channels and professional company's. the youtube channel had alot of potential and there were big plans for the channel. the biggest blow that led to the downfall was the shut down of Defy Media, (the people who screwed over mat pat and smosh) they promised us alot of money for a series that took us months to make. the channel was put on the side while we did this series. then the shut down happened and all these months worth of work was for nothing, we didnt get paid and the next few months were spent trying to figure out how to recover from this. we never did, i soon left before the pandemic. the studio is still up and making stuff for other clients, they just arnt as focused on the channel. unlike letsplayers and vloggers, we cant just drop animations every week, they take time and money and the risk to reward is not worth it. i hope one day the channel comes back in full swing, just not possible right now with KZreads current landscape

​@@chazington1073 yeah they were a big client for us and we were all excited when we found out we were gonna make a series for them. knowing what i know now about Defy media, they knew they were shutting down and couldnt afford what they promised us, yet still told us to keep working and we would be paid once its done. it was scummy of them. what sucks the most is i was hoping to ask if i could meet shayne topp after it was all done

This is what happens when artists are not given the appreciation/credit that they need and are taken advantage of with little to nowhere left to grow. The art only gets worse and more lazy as the artists figure out they are not getting what they feel is appropriate and start doing the bare minimum for the paychecks they get.

Chazington is my favorite KZread, he somehow always manages to find a topic that I was interested in from when I was younger and his humor is like the exact kind of thing I think is hilarious so watching him completely dog on the things I used to like is actually hilarious (and If you see this chazington keep up the good work)

As a smashbits viewer from back in the day, I say that Dexter Manning is an absolute icon.

It felt like they just fell off at season and their animation changed a good amount when I didn’t find it as appealing to see. And I believe as well Dexter carried. The only animation I can think of without him off the top of my head are Cup head, Pokémon, and if Mario was realistic. Besides that eh....not much

It was when they went to rigging the models, that's when the animation took a nosedive. Felt lazy and boring to watch. Not to say that rigged animation sucks fundamentally, it could work. But the more traditional animation SmashBits used earlier on for MSM, Sonic, Punch Out, etc. always felt more charming than when they used rigging.

@@ajgameguy3674 yeah at one point they were just super stiff when walking and like you said it was boring. Some jokes were funny but it felt like more of a hit or miss comedy compared to the first season where it all went so fast and you couldn’t help but laugh

when i was like, 9 or something i was on holiday in a part of scotland and i was in this play centre thing that had a dark section beneath it that i was too afraid to go in on my own, but i met these two boys who were hiding out in there and we spent our time together quoting if undertale was realistic to eachother in this crevice near the end

I used to remember watching Smashbits' Undertale series a lot as a kid back when Undertale was insanely popular. It's a shame to see a channel like this fall from grace.

Smashbits was most of my childhood. I had almost forgotten them until this video, I miss being in the times where people were chill, had some knowledge of what they were doing, thank you for making this video, it helps me remember the childhood I once had.

I’d like to mention that Dexter manning created a show for machinima back in the early 2010’s called “sanity not included” with cohost Lyle rath, who went on to be a member of oneyplays. The show definitely could’ve aged better, and even though the majority of episodes would get over 1 million views, it seems as though not many people remember it after machinima self destructed in 2019, although there are official reuploads. However, if you’ve ever watched SMG4, especially around 2014-2017, you’ve undoubtedly heard some soundbytes ripped from the show. I only found out it was Dex who voiced frisk and papyrus in those undertale animations about a month ago and it felt very surreal to say the least. Unironically enough I think it was the video on this channel which briefly mentioned smashbits that gave me the realisation.
