If it was Rayman, it might be confusing, because this is not a Rayman Stage. Whoever created the stage knows the answer. You might be right that it's a flag, because it seems to make sense.

Crazy thing is that theory was almost right, we just got the character wrong The chairs were referencing the colors of Pokémon sun and moon

@@cheesydip4009 Yeah, the only reason people believed the theory in the first place was because if you go back to the first smash direct, you can see a barrel and 3(?) books with the exact colors and formation of King K. Rool’s torso, who wasn’t revealed until the direct after. You could maaaybe say that the dice in the background of the final direct before dlc were hinting at Joker, but I don’t know enough about Persona to be sure

It’s just like Sakurai’s Rule regarding Smash Bros being a “Video Game Crossover”. There’s already reports where he was going to bring in characters from Media (Like James Bond for instance), not to mention he said it’s difficult to include characters into Smash Bros like with Ridley and Banjo & Kazooie, yet he did the impossible by including them anyways… so it’s not really a rule, as it’s more so a challenge Sakurai has to face.

it's not really the only place Rayman "appears" tho in the King K. Rool reveal trailer there's a cloud that look suspiciously similar to Rayman so Rayman might actually be frozen in the ice, ...he just never escaped

Fun story: at the watch party I went to for the sora reveal trailer, when they showed battlefield we all started yelling “NO RAYMAN HES STILL STUCK IN THERE”

No. They wouldn't have to include Ubisoft in the character copyrights. Rayman is still in the game as a Spirit. And that PNG is copyright of Ubisoft.

The “face” is too wide regardless. And people might say what if the ice is distorting the image, but presumably the “body” would be distorted too.

I've always just figured it's also a fun way to include "rayman" without needing ubisofts permission, even though getting their consent isn't the issue here

I remember when I saw this I was trying to make the stage for a Amiibo display, so I was zooming in on all the details and what not, and was like hey that’s Rayman in those crystals. This was back during fighter pass 1 the thing I find interesting is that it never really gained traction until a leaker said the last 3 characters where Rayman, ryu from ninja gaiden and doom slayer. That’s when I noticed people talking about ray man in the crystal. I even put Rayman in a crystal for the display lol.

Tbf they’ve teased characters in Smash with stage reveals before. The first trailer for Smash 4 has the characters fighting on a boxing ring stage, why is there a new stage that’s randomly a Smash-themed boxing ring? Idk about too much leaning on the credits thing. I think Nintendo was in pretty good with Ubisoft by the time the game launched to where they wouldn't have had to put them in the mainline credits if it was going to mean spoiling the surprise later. I'm sure they would've been willing to work something out. But when I think on it further, having Rayman as a stage element isn't much different than him being a spirit. He's not interactive in the slightest sense that would be considered representative of him existing in his own franchise, so not too farfetched

If they were to add another 3rd party platformer to smash rayman would be the best choice. Sure there’s crash or Spyro but neither of them have had nearly as much history on Nintendo consoles outside of ports, remakes, and other console releases of their games. Meanwhile rayman has been there since the N64 and kinda had history with Nintendo being a launch title to the Wii basically. While there’s potential for other characters I think rayman with his history with Nintendo and loads of potential in his games. I think he would be a perfect 3rd party rep for smash
