I know this video is two years old, but you saved my sanity. I'm using wax on EVERY piece and it's working beautifully. Thank you so much!!!

Thanks for making this video!! Other videos are just highlighting how easy the flooring is, but it's helpful to see someone honestly addressing the tricky spots.

I found this video at just the right time! I was wondering why it wasnt just "snapping" together like in all the tutorials I've seen. I now have hope! THANK YOU!

Thankfully finally this is actually the help I needed. I was having a hard time getting my ends to connect well. Putting them in place first was so much easier and made it a lot less frustrating. I agree with you that it is not as easy as everyone makes it out to be. Thank you so much for posting this.

I am so glad you posted this video! I'm installing *SmartCore Ultra* flooring w/ *Soft & Sound Underlayment* in a house I just bought, and also in the new video production studio, office, and podcasting studio. *_It took me FOREVER to install the first 3 rows_* , but seems to get easier after you get a solid start. Your tips in this video are a lifesaver *Off The Hook Design And Fab Dot Com* ! Again, *GREAT VIDEO* man!

We’re installing this stuff now. Was recommended from a friend in the field. Well it sucks, I hate it. Done floors with cheaper crap that worked much better. Thanks for video.

I'm laying this crap down today and only managed about 1/4 of the job so far and almost threw every piece out. I have laid quite a bit of flooring mostly laminate with no problems. I don't know if I have the patience to finish the job. I understand your frustration....

Great Idea! I've installed over 500 sq ft already and you need to beat this stuff into place with a 3lb deadblow hammer to get it to lock right. I'll try the wax!

dang, i was looking at installing the Smart Core Ultra because they had the design and color i like (blue ridge pine) and i can find that design and color in any other plank. Now you got me shied away from it because i have never done plank and don't need an extra hassle. And the stuff is not cheap at $4.00 a sq ft thought it was quality

I start this floor tomorrow. I haven't put any vinal floors in about 6 or so years, and I haven't done this brand before. I got all my other flooring at Menards. So this sounds like it is going to be fun. (Not) I have already had a time with the subflooring. I love you "Suicide prevention line" comment! Definitely been there already with this project. Ugh! I do have a question, where you using a tapping block and runner mallet to lock in the seams or where you doing it all by hand? I had heard that this floor was easy to install......now I am dreading it!

I've used 3 versions of click-lick type flooring, including this specific brand, and they are all a pain to install. The last install was my LAST install!

I installed this in 2 rooms a few years back and it was a breeze. Then I decided to install it in the rest of the house so I'll have a uniform look, but I have to work backwards in several locations. Good Lord, I'm ready to shoot myself in the face. I gave up and called a contractor friend. Just watched your video and saw your tip about the wax. I'm going to give that a try tomorrow and see if I have any luck before my pal arrives. Thanks for the video and believe me, I can empathize with your frustration.

You need to read the instructions. And use a bridge on every section. It's easier to install the recommend way. Bridge tap .. and so on

I’m wondering why you chose to lay the underlayment even though smartcore emphasizes that it is not needed since it is included in their flooring.

The reason I did it was to keep water from getting through the joints and swelling the plywood underneath. The planks are supposed to be waterproof but the joints are not going to be waterproof 100 percent. Just another layer of protection for water getting through while mopping or spills. Also ads a small amount of sound and temperature insulation and a little more even surface over the existing floor wooden underlayment joints and imperfections.

I did underlay because my subfloor was old and it ensured more level on the subfloor panel joints.

I went to Lowe's looking to purchase vinyl tiles... I was sold this stuff, the first cut I did I noticed there's wood (cheap fiber wood) and all the vinyl was is the top wearing course. I installed steinmaster luxury vinyl planks In the bathroom and those were true vinyl throughout. This is not true vinyl throughout. Not happy.

Why did you choose to lay down the moisture barrier even though your planks have the rubber backing?

  • @offthehookdesignandfabdotc2582

    @offthehookdesignandfabdotc2582

Because the joints are not waterproof and it ads a bit of temperature and sound insulation.

You’re supposed to stagger the joints. Longing them up every other makes it weak.

It doesn’t always work that way. Depends on where you start the house. There are areas where you have to go backwards. Couldn’t do it that way in this room because my wife wanted the living room done first.
