Smart Donkeys - Formerly an indispensable working animal (animal documentary in HD)

Үй жануарлары мен аңдар

Their quiet tolerant character and sufficiency were their disastrous. Donkeys bear overloading and wrong treatment to exhaustion.

When Giuseppe Borghi is approached, his donkeys are already waiting for him. By owning a farm the donkey breeder discovered his passion.
The donkey accompanied humans for thousands of years. Actually, the donkey is a desert animal from Africa, that you can see at his simple needs. He needs only little food and little water. Donkeys that are no longer needed will take on from the Donkey Sanctuary in Cyprus. The English organization operates rescue centers all over the world. But the "retirement home" for donkeys should not hide the fact that the donkeys in Cyprus extinct if we do not find a new purpose for them. The hope is the tourism or milk production. The sale is also a purpose to preserve the races. Even Giuseppe sold very many donkeys to pass on the passion for the donkeys. Those who work with donkeys, can not escape from these quiet charming creatures. Donkeys are an asset for the people and they are worth it, that we strive to secure their preservation.

For thousands of years the donkey has helped mankind and for thousands of years the donkey has been abused, overworked, mistreated and ridiculed. The donkey sanctuary is the least we can do.

I too have have the same affection for these beautiful creatures. Just a few days ago I visited a donkey sanctuary, although it was closed due to Covid. One donkey came to me at the fence after I softly whistled for some time. I caressed its head, its nose, the side of its face, and could tell that the donkey enjoyed this attention. After leaving and then returning an hour later, I once again approached the fence, whistled, and this time he came immediately to me ! Another donkey also approached, but my donkey gently nudged him away, he wanted ALL my attention !

My grandfather have an old donkey that was given to him and i used to go to see him every time i was down. Animal abuse and children abuse does break my heart. We have to be so grateful that this organization exists to protect the onw they can. I work voluntary with abandon dogs.

Might be similar to domesticated pigs/wild hogs dichotomy. If you take a domestic pig and let him loose in the wild, within a year it literally transforms into a wild boar, with tugs and shaggy fur. Wild donkeys probably had some physiological differences from how they are now after thousands of years of domestic evolution.

I changed his feeding and barn location. So far so good. I plan to put down some sharp gravel on a strip of concrete along his path to wear his hoofs. I wonder how long I should make the strip.

Why not do your own research in future. There are also dromedary camels in North Africa and the Middle East. Obviously, they are domesticated also. There is also an African rat they have trained to detect land mines and to cross landmine fields without stepping on them, and no I am NOT making that up, lol!! 🤭. There are also hunting and herding dog breeds from the African continent. Some East Indian and Middle Eastern people keep cheetahs as pets. (No, we don't approve, but it is done.)

The donkeys in Santorini in Greece are mistreated terribly by the owners, they are used for hauling fat tourists up a long hill while a perfectly good cable car system runs along side them. The donkey have no shade, filthy green water between them and filthy wire is used as to dress them, (bit etc) excuse my ignorance on the names of the garb they and horses wear. When the ride is over they are whipped down at speed were they fall and suffer injuries. The tourist walking up suffer getting out of their way. One lady died. Never go to Greece or Crete they treat their pets terribly. Tourists are traumatised. The rescuers there are snowed under with appalling cases of cruelty. But you don’t see that in tourist adverts. 🤨

Thank you for sharing the video. Thank you for taking care of the donkeys, but when you show the milk and the meat from donkeys, it looks like you do it all for business. I hope I am wrong.

No one should eat donkeys. Why eat them.

So father and son in Italy are basically just running a business including slaughtering donkeys they don’t deem useful for breeding or sale. Wonder why there is no footage here of such smart and sensitive animals being dragged off, terrified, to be slaughtered? Meanwhile, the idiotic narrater soothingly intones that this slaughter is necessary “for the good of the race”. This is the difference between an ultimately cruel and selfish business posing as warmth and light, and an actual sanctuary where donkeys would not be bred but cared for with compassion, for life. If you need to breed limited numbers so they don’t die out (assuming there are no more donkeys who need to be rescued) it’s possible to do so in numbers that don’t require slaughter. Don’t present donkeys as if you care about them and then pander to an operation that breeds them in part to kill them.

Some of my ancestors ate donkey meat to survive. Otherwise I would not exist.
