@@Austin66411 More like there is no such thing as a "dumb" grand champion that can be more dumb than even the "smartest" Diamond. Higher ranked players have better reads, consistency, and lethality. You don't need to be "smart" when in this game when you can just read the physics, opponent, and/or teammates and just do what you want. Even in 1v1, it's really who gets the better touches and better reads. Diamonds, no matter how "smart" they are consciously just don't have the subconscious read on the physics, let alone what other players are going to do with the ball to challenge.

I feel im a lot like you as a D2. My ground game is as good, if not better, and my air game is better, but not by much. Yet when I 1v1 my GC friends I still end up losing, not by much tho. GG man and good try

I don't think CBell realizes the vast difference in skill there is with a p3 1s player and a d3 1s player. He told the smart diamond this as a confidence boost, but I feel like if you are grinding 1s you'll know passing D1 is a tough barrier, then getting D3 is even more so. I also don't really see how the GC player is 'dumb' other than going for some fancy plays, but that's how you grow!

Recently hit C1 in 1s, and the people up here are truly insane compared to anyone I faced in diamond 1v1 🤣

I am that sort of player that goes freeplay and tries to learn fancy mechs but ends up just going for simple and effective stuff in game unless winning comfortably. Patience and going for right challenge is more important than most mechs

i think learning mechanics is needed but you should stop trying for more after a point (unless you have chosen the freestyler way). And for me, that point is when you can hit a simple flip reset outplay ,(insta pop or delayed) simple airdribble (airroll is not that needed) and ball read/basically mastering double taps but not the things like redirects and triple flip resets since you have %15 chance of pull them off in game. i think this level that I'm talking about is probably valid for d2 to gc3. Nevertheless, mechanics are %40 of the game for me.

bro fucking same ive stopped playing this game around 5 times in the past year, and i still havent managed to level up my game i always end up really practicing 45 flicks, air dribbles and double taps / backboard reads but i always just default to hitting the ball, and then going into rank and tryharding without any fancy shit i got a couple rocket league edits on my channel, and i mean, they're kinda mid, idk

Me and my friends have a strat in all modes called "neptuning" but its something i developed because of ones, because kickoffs are skillful but can be a lot of rng and the only consistent things every game are kickoffs and demos, but basically if you have a lead even of 1 goal its not always best to score on an open net because then you stop the clock and give them an rng chance at an advantage to catch up, so the strat is just stalling like just holding posession as long as possible keeping the ball in corners and then backing off and defending or hard playing the 50s when they challenge. And for anyone wondering about the name its because of the spongebob squarepants movie with king neptune and "stalling"

You should do silver VS grand champ, but they switch brains. So a different silver player tells the GC what to do and he has to do it, and a different GC tells the silver what to do and he has to do it.

@@D3ADYYY You can carry yourself out of diamond, even with the worst teammates. I've been there and done it. You have to accept the reality that you're still there because that's where you belong. One day you'll realize it's not your teammates. You're still making the same mistakes they are, without realizing it in the moment.

This is crazy how much I can relate with this diamond. I'm a high diamond/low champ in 2's and 3's. Absolutely no mechs but great game sense. I'm trying to spend some time in Freeplay, but i find it boring. 😂 Also Kinder Buenos are absolute fire and WERE my favourite choco bar until I developed a nut allergy a few years back. Was an incredibly sad moment 😂

I'm low Diamond. Similar. I wonder what 'no mevhs' looks like for you though? For me it's struggling with basic car control, even just driving into the ball. I wouldn't say my game sense is great either, just positioning and focusing on reading what's happening.

I'm pretty much in the exact same predicament. I find training packs a little bit more engaging than free play, but struggle to do either regularly as it's boring. Having to abandon Kinder Bueno would be truly devastating though

I have the same problem. Diamond in 2s and plat in 1s. Can’t speedflip, never fast arial, never do a quick backflip, can’t airdribble 😂 I just compensate with positioning, taking advantage of mistakes and occasionally surprise with shots from awkward positions 🤷‍♂️

The answer is absolutely. Check Retals and Jack playing 1s on the same keyboard. Even with no mechs you can still hit champ in 1s if you play smart. Obviously this dude isn’t RLCS level smarts but you can see he still scores some even against a much stronger opponent

​@@HBSup No such thing as a ceiling that low. Humans are highly adaptable creatures with the ability to constantly learn, well into adulthood. What does cause plataeus like that is not practicing properly, or not spending enough time with practicing properly.

What this video shows is that if you have worse mechanics than your opponent, you have to play very smart, patient AND pray that they throw in order to win. These scorelines would look a lot more onesided if the GC had just gone for more straightforward attacks that didn't all leave him in the Diamond's net with 0 boost

I'm D3 in both 1s and 2s, but I play mostly 1s and face mostly 2s GCs every day, even some GC2s. I'm a ground player doing the whole flakes thing ,and not even very well but can hold my own fine. In fact the reason I don't feel the need to train resets etc is because it's Sooooooo satisfying to watch a mechy player lose their s**t after I keep walking their mistakes in 🤣🤣 🤣 One thing I will advise though to all you 2s players who wanna come over, sort your 2s kickoff out!!! it won't cut it in 1s. You can't come to a 1s game with a 2s KO and then spam chat with "lucky kick off merchant" when you indivertibly get stomped!

I really don’t want to be that guy but I’m a bit like that diamond. I can rotate and have good positioning but I have crazy mechs (peak is triple flip reset and can hit doubles constantly). I am plat3 in 1s and diamond2 in 2 and plat2 in 3s. I feel like I should be higher and could fit into a champ lobby easily.
