Yes, I thought back to her soft warning in season two also -- I have always thought Clark idealized her, and that therefore his love for her could never be true. Unfortunatey, it seems due to her outward innocence and undeniable beauty, none of the men in her life have ever understood her, or really wanter her for her. The viewers of Smallville do that too; such irrational hatred. Has her character ever actually done anything to deserve it? And now that she is independent, Clark can't handle it.

@@jessicacaleno1998 same as the the guy trying so hard to understand a girl that just want both of us to be open but I couldn't. My problems seem so small & could have been hidden under adolescents compared to now. Until I get myself together I know any relationship I attempt to start is automatically my fault. I knew that the first time these episodes aired.

@SeasonVelvet I agree with you to an extent. What I didn't like Lana was that she used her love for Clark to justify all her wrongdoings. But what I DID like was that she admitted she made mistakes. Something Chloe hasn't done. But its not that Clark can't handle it. Its that he had an image of her that never truly existed and I think this is when he was finally seeing who Lana Lang really was and its scary... how do you love someone you never even knew?

I had liked for Lana to keep the powers and Clark & Lana to develop together in a mature relationship. I mean at that point in the show it was long, long, long overdue that they have a good relationship in every aspect. But the showmakers just used them as tools for melodramatic effect. Which is sad.

I counldnt have said it better myself you know I applaud Lana for threatening Lionel that she would tell Martha Kent about him using Clark as a bargaining chip to control her in a sick way a forced marriage is no arranged marriage and you can’t confuse people with apparences like that in public it’s forbidden to lie in public like that and it would make Lana look bad I wish Martha knew about it and would’ve gone public with it and lex breaking them up using that Simone girl was a sick thing to do it’s like Lex and Lionel are putting lies inside their head that people can’t understand huh it’s like they don’t know that a lie is being made the writers were idiots to do this to Clark and Lana

Lana doesn't get it. With great power comes responsibility. Lana lost all senses trying to justify hurting a human, now that she's a meta human. Clarks right, she began acting like Lex. Thinking they can do some wrong for the greater good.

you're wrong about her, yes what she's has done is wrong but that hasn't been influenced by the indugance of power, it manifested from the time spent together with lex. living a marriage full of deceit, deception, lies, control, manipulation. Lana changed a long time ago and what she is now is not at all something new, it's just that Clark is seeing this for the first time. her actions are not justified, but she does have her reasons and they extend far beyond being drunk on power

@yesyesohyay10 You realize Clark and Lana got engaged in one episode and it was retconned in the same episode? So are you saying that Smallville should have ended half way through Reckoning? And can you tell me why Clark never proposed to Lana again, despite how "happy" they were in season 7? Another thing, the happy Clana ended early. In fact, in Reckoning Clark decides to propose to Lana solely because he feels he's losing her. It's an act of deperation on his part.

To sum up this clip, Lana: "Clark, love me no matter what. I went evil because of the powers and if I find anymore excuses for any more evil things, still love me. It's not your fault that I've changed. It's your fault that you thought I was a barbie doll. Look at me, I'm a jerk! Deal with it." Clark: "...I've turned you into a monster with my lies!" Lana: "Oh, shut up and love me!"

"I am not going to apologize for going to the extreme to protect someone I love" Someone else said the very same thing and she did go to the extreme: Chloe, that is why Lois is the right girl for Clark. She wasn't as invasive and intrusive as Chloe, smothering and possessive as Lana.

@yesyesohyay10 The best part about season 7 is that is SHOWS viewers why Clark and Lana don't work and why they never will work. Lana is fine with Clark as long as he's not keeping any secrets [I.E Mortal and Hidden] but when he can't tell her the truth she can't deal with it [I.E the rest of season 5]. And now that she knows his secrets, she's the one keeping secrets. Their relationship was built on nothing but lies. That's why they don't work. Season 8 proves this yet again when she lies again

Eh... "It was the powers". No, the powers just gave you leverage. And her telling Clark that he basically is horrible for not doing something to the Luthors just proves they were never going to work. That's not who Clark/Superman is. I'm sorry, but its true. Case in point, Jonathan had Clarks powers and didn't go after people threatening clark (Lionel)... just Clark. Lois got Clarks powers in season 10 and didn't go ape shit on toyman... or anyone else that threatened Clark. And neither of them would try to hurt Clark or destroy him based on the decisions he made.

Lana was not a killer. For example, in ‘Persona’, at first she was hesitating before taking Bizarro’s hand because she couldn't kill even such a villain. Then she plucked up her resolve and put the kryptonite in his hand. I compare this scene with another one in 'Kara'. Lana treathened Lex to shoot him but at the last moment she didn't do it. Although no one would blame her because she was 'dead' for the whole world, plus she had 10 million dollars after her divorce, she could get away with her crime. Even Lex _knew_ she was not a murderer. So it’s obvious all the other times (‘Nemesis’ and ‘Wrath’) Lana’s purpose was not kill but _scare_ him. She wouldn’t let him die no matter. She even stopped Clark in ‘Requiem’, when he in the heat of passion was gonna kill Lex. Why she finally killed Bizarro but she couldn’t do the same with Lex? Probably, because deep down she was hoping Clark’s old friend would return.

Lana indeed kidnapped Lionel and faked her death to get his son arrested because they could harm Clark after her leaving Lex. Again, she didn’t kill Lionel (although she was able to do that, and no one would blame her because she already was ‘dead’), punished only. So here she said the truth. She wanted to _protect_ Clark. Regarding Lana’s excusing her actions by the powers in this episode, she said because probably didn’t want Clark to know her true intention when he was gonna stop her from ‘killing’ Lex. There she accused him for not being able to put blood on his hands. But as I mentioned above, Lana wasn’t a killer and wouldn’t let Clark to be. Her true intention there could be giving him a trial. She wanted he proved _himself_ he wasn’t able to kill no matter what. That’s why she lied that it was the powers which made her to try to ‘kill’ Lex. Regarding Lana’s secret about ‘Isis foundation’. She hid it from Clark because she knew he wouldn’t let her spy on Lex. But she couldn’t let the villain to harm Clark. She was afraid he would make something bad to her beloved one after her leaving him in ‘Phantom’. So Lana kept her secret about the foundation to protect Clark only, not for her personal purposes. The fact that she decided to stop her spying in ‘Gemini’ proves Clark she was not obsessed with her investigation by Luthorcorp’s deals. Clark didn’t like her methods, so she decided to refuse them.

At the end of ‘Action’, there was a conversation between Lana and Lionel. The latter said her that actually wanted to revenge for HERSELF, not for Clark. And Lana was standing silent as if she was agreeing with him. As I mentioned above 👆 _Lana wanted to protect Clark, not revenge for herself. Otherwise, she would kill Lionel and Lex, or in ‘Requiem’, would allow Clark to kill Lex._ There, after Lionel’s words, Lana started doubting herself as if the conscience was tormenting her. _She was thinking that maybe even her good intentions weren’t an excuse for her actions (kidnapping Lionel and getting Lex arrested)._ Lionel, on the other hand, actually told her such words not because he believed they were true. At that time he became good and was also wanted to protect Clark. The fact is _he was trying to bring Lana to the true path; to say her that her revenge was not an option to solve the problem._ That’s why he told her that she was thinking about herself not Clark while revenging The Luthors. There is one similar scene at the end of ‘Scion’. Lionel-2 (bad version of this character) told Tess the similar words that all the good things she did were only to impress Clark. But deep down she would always remain The Luthor. And Tess (like Lana) was standing silent as if she was agreeing with him. _Tess proved her good intentions till the end of the series. Here she was silent and didn’t object to her father because she started doubting herself because she underrated her good deeds, not because her intentions weren’t sincerely._ Lionel-2 was a villain, and wanted her daughter would be like him bringing her to the wrong path.

Also there is the scene in at the end of 'Power' where Lana tries to stop Tess from revenging on Lex. 'I don't want you to make the same mistake I did. I know how much you want to get revenge on Lex, and who can blame you? I have felt that exact same rage'. 'All that anger will lead you down a long tunnel that you will never find your way out of'. 'You may have gotten rid of the microchip ... but every second that you're consumed by hate is another second Lex is still in control of you. Don't be a victim anymore'. That means, Lionel's manipulation with Lana's feelings to Clark in 'Action' worked. And they made her feel guilty and refuse to revenge on Lex. Although, I don't see anything wrong what she did. Because all what she wanted was to _scare_ Lex, _not kill_ to prevent his following crimes. Also there is the scene in at the end of 'Power' where Lana tries to stop Tess from revenging on Lex. 'I don't want you to make the same mistake I did. I know how much you want to get revenge on Lex, and who can blame you? I have felt that exact same rage'. Because all what she wanted was to _scare_ Lex, _not kill_ to prevent his following crimes. Her deeds actually were beneficial: learning Lex was tracking Kryptonians (‘Wrath’), proving Tess her half-brother was using her (‘Bulletproof’), etc. While Clark and Lionel didn't do anything _worth_ to stop the villain.

Of course, if you're not a Clark fan you wouldn't understand. Like I said. I can't take you serious at all as a shipper or as a viewer. Why do you want a character you hate with your heroine? @yesyesohyay10 When she left and returned she was dishonest about her plans with Clark, but that was about it. I thought Clark destroying the building was a little out of character. But I guess that's why they have to do this "over coming darkness" thing in season 10 so he can "be the light" and yadda yadda.

@LKSPR13 Why are you going to hear about characters of a show that's ended? I'm assuming you meant that you didn't hear much about Lex in season 8-10. Which isn't true. Even without Michael Lex was still a very heavy presence. Right to the point that Michael returned in the finale. Even Lionel was able to come back in season 10. You say they had horrible ratings and doomed Friday night slot and yet they survived their last 2 years on it just fine. And Clois rushed? 7 years is rushed?

I did like Clark and Lana’s relationship at times. Season 7 was a bit sad 😞 Lana sadly lied so many times to Clark. Yes Clark kept his secret from his her but I can understand his “lie.” Lana leaves then come backs, leaves, then repeats over and over again. She can’t make up her mind. After season 3 Lana started becoming darker. When she got Clark’s powers she spun completely out of control like Eric from Season 1 when he got Clark’s abilities. Clark I don’t believe ever stopped Lana. IMO she pushed him away. Lex said it himself that “revenge,” is like an addiction. When Lana came back she should have been more honest with him. What breaks up any relationship is lies. Once trust is broken there’s no do over. I guess you can try and hope but sometimes it can’t work out. Like I said. Clark will always love Lana even though they never got to be together. It wasn’t Lex that split them apart. It was Lana’s lies that drove Clark away. Had Lana have let Lex go and not try to punish Lionel and been upfront with Clark from day 1 they’d still be together. I believe that in my heart. Love Smallville but there’s a teeny part of me to maybe in some multiverse want Clark and Lana together. I love Lois and Chloe a lot. Lois never had any secrets nor did she play Clark like a damn fiddle. Lana would do that to him at times and it got annoying. 🙏

@yesyesohyay10 First of all, I'd expect you to hate on Lois, cause that's probably like breathing for you but hating on Clark makes me go WHAT THE WUCK!! I'm not going to sit here and try to shove reasons why Clark and Lois belong together down your throat. The show does a spectacular job at showing the audience. But I can't take a shipper who hates on one half of their "ship" seriously. Why do you want Lana with Clark if you obviously don't like Clark? And with that... I'm out.
