Hello, so you got the command reference from the SmallSMT? I heard that they are willing to share, when you but the machine :)

So you remove that original tape remover mechanism and replaced them with the Charmhigh/Neoden type? I have the VP-2500D machine and the tape remover mechanism is awful. And for 16mm and 24mm, it can't even fit the tape width properly, rendering them useless.

Yes, we tried the original tape peeling system about 3 months and had constant problems with it. Unused feeders breaks their cover tapes or pull them so hard that plastic component tapes get advanced in their slots without feeding. Fortunately I have been used these blue "pnp wheels" from Robotdigg in our first machine and find that they seems to work pretty well. So I decided to replace the originals with these. However the spacing between Robotdigg/charmhigh/neoden pnpwheel is 13mm. And SmallSMT's 8mm tapes are spaced with 12mm. So small modification is needed. I milled the blue wheel parts about 0.6mm thinner and replaced original 1mm thick spacers between wheels with 0.2mm washers. Now the spacing is about 12.2mm. Still little bit too wide, but works just fine. After that update the problems with cover tapes are virtually gone. Proper pulling force is now very easy to adjust and wheels runs smooth and completely independent of wheels next to it. A huge improvement to the original system.

@@heikkikosola2401 thank you very much for the detailed explanation. I too felt the original peeling mechanism is too strong just by hearing the sound of the tapes being pulled with the least tension on the spring set. Having the tapes snap in the middle of the process is too cumbersome to fix. These blue PNP wheels are those found in Neoden's earliest machine (TM220 and TM240) and I couldn't believe that it is that good until made this setup!
