Smallmouth Bass Fishing (Pigeon Forge, Tennessee)

Ойын-сауық

Stopped in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee to do some smallmouth bass fishing in the Little Pigeon River and see what all i could catch. spent several hours wading and exploring the river. The water was very low and very clear due to it being the end of a hot dry summer.

I grew up in Pigeon Forge and still live in the area. Worked at Ogles Water Park, as a lifeguard if you remember that place… Many days after work I would walk across the street and fish near where you were. All your locations were so familiar to me. For larger smallmouth that do not get pressure as much, fish the stretch of the Pigeon as it runs along Highway 66 in Sevierville. Thanks for the nostalgic upload man. I always look forward to your videos. So cool to see it you come my way!

I have fished this same creek many times, the fish are pressured that's for sure. I waded it one day for about a mile or so, saw a huge rainbow swim right next to me. I thought this trout was a carp at first because of its size! I found that every small hole or depression in the creek holds fish, usually a mixture of trout, chubs, smallies and suckers. There is something about smallmouth it does not matter what size they are they are all cool to catch!

Another killer video John. My family uses Pigeon Forge as a “base camp” for fishing vacations. Lots of fish to catch in the city before or after shopping and visiting the tourist traps . Then you can get serious and go into the GSMNP to fish awesome creeks like Abrams , Dudley , and the East , West , and Middle prongs of the Little Pigeon River. Also easy day trips to the Little River in Townsend and the Oconaluftee River in Cherokee NC. Some of my favorite places to fish . We usually go the Ridley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg and I’m wishing the whole time they would let me bring in my ultra lite combo 😁

I fished the West Prong so many times. I haven't been to Pigeon Forge since the mid 1980s. I bet I wouldn't recognize it anymore. I've caught so many rock bass, smallmouth, red ear, bluegill, rainbows, and browns out of that river. Thank you for taking me back. My biggest smallie that I remember from the West Prong was maybe 2lbs. There's a road south from Pigeon Forge called Wears Valley Rd. Take that south to Townsend and the Little River for more killer fishing. Caught a 3.5lb smallmouth there. Can you tell I grew up in Knoxville?

But I do have a creek suggestion! I went on vacation to pigeon forge earlier this year and there is a creek right across the street from Goats on the Roof. It's a smaller creek loaded with smallies. I stopped and talked to a local and he suggested it. I caught a few over 2lbs and countless others. You should check it out.

Try indian creek in Corydon/ harrison co indiana. I fish it often amd alway catch several smallmouth. Resembles the place your at in this video. And several species of fish. I only ever use nightcrawler on a jig head. Oh and there is a small lake in the local park has some moster bass, just hard to catch em. I caught a 5 1/2lb largemouth from the lake. Went over the hill and caught 6 smallmouth. 4 were keepers.

Creek Fishing Adventures I have never fished there but we go there usually once or twice a year and I guess they sit below that spillway next to the mill restaurant and get a lot of food that gets washed over the spillway. I live in North Florida and I have never caught a smallmouth but would really like to.

You should go to downtown Gatlinburg. There is a bridge in front of Christ in the Smokies Museum and Gardens. Fish on the west side of the bridge with a pink trout magnet and you will catch a ton! It’s pretty deep there.

John, I love that place where you were at. Been there a few times with the wife and kid. Took the skylift up to the ice Skating rink. I have a question for you. Did you ever try a spinner? I would think that they might have given chase to a Panther Martin or a small Beatle spin. Just curious. Beautiful water you covered in this video..

@@CreekFishingAdventures Hey John, one more thought here. I used to have good responses throwing a black mister twister single tail grubs, 4" variety. Just bumping them along, small 1/8 ouce jig head or smaller, sometimes a split shot. Slow moving current pools, drove the smallies crazy.

If their small ones got to be some big ones somewhere seemed like when you found the swifter water they were more aggressive. Went to the conasuga today hooked into a good 3an a half to 4lbr got her to the boat 4 times my cousin couldn't get the net under her she finally bent the hooks an pulled off heart breaking
