I’ve fished that spot so many times! Try a minnow on the tail of a jig. They love that

Dude you are Killin me. I was off from work today and it was a beautiful day here....so naturally I decided fishing was on tap... however I spent the day cleaning chicken pens, moving the baby ducks and chicks to new pens, setting up another section of the garden and helping my granddaughters with their school work....and now you put this up lol.....Thanks brother it's really cool the way you share all your trips. I caught my first small mouth in front on Wilderness of the Smokey's 22 yrs ago when all that you floated by was hay fields. I would work hay for our horses and local farmers, then fish the river. Used the $5 hour I made to pay for tackle and bait. Sevierville was a small sleepy town back then.... Thank for the video.

I have never seen a better equipped kayak in my life. I guess the little ad for Lay's potato chips didn't hurt the fishing either. There is nothing better than catching stream smallmouth, although that white bass was as nice as they get. This trip was an angler's paradise.

Kill in’ it brother. My dad started out watching your videos a WHILE ago and he got me started watching a while ago. I’ve been bass fishing (with some tournaments) on boat and last year got a kayak so I l started watching kayak fisherman. All the while I’ve been watching every video from you as they give me notifications. NOW, my father-in-law who religiously fishes for steelhead, after I showed him a few of your Creek walks, he’s watching too. You’re converting fisherman, man! Nice work. All your videos are my morning tea/coffee videos. And since I’m now getting into kayak fishing, this video is absolutely killer. Unfortunately we’re super restricted in Ohio because of weather. I intended to wade tomorrow for some rock bass but we’re getting 30° and snow/rain up to 2”. But Saturday AM we’re looking at 50° so we’re headed to Conneaut for steelhead. Nice catches, I’m jealous, rock on, and you’re a lucky guy. Have fun and hook’em.

Love the simplicity of your vids, I live in Okeechobee Fl and have never laid eyes an a small mouth bass. Would love the opportunity though! Keep me coming!👍👍

Used to go to that dam/mill area as a little kid with my cousin and catch tadpoles. I was so small I had to wear a life vest and I could only touch bottom in spots. About got washed away but my uncle grabbed me...and as always this is a great video! Those 2 to 4lb smallmouths are amazing fighters, especially If they have any deep water to dive into.

Nice day for fishing, you should check out the Nolichucky River, it’s just a few miles (20 minutes) down the road from the Little Pigeon. It’s a great river for small mouth bass, you won’t be disappointed.

I'm hoping to do my first kayak fishing in the next few weeks..... it looks like a blast!!!! Still gotta try some of those hellgrammite too....

Hard to quit on a day like that!!

If the fish are biting there is no doubt you will catch them smallmouth are more fun to catch than large mouth great video

Man I would like to try that river out sometime you were tearing them up all nice smallmouths

So I just did this exact float two days ago after watching this and didn’t notice that you said you all paddled back around from that mill until rewatching just now. I was so curious how you all got by it because I could not find a way around it, I was by myself which made it even worse but I literally unloaded all my gear and lifted my kayak down that wall by myself and then reloaded. Was the only way I could think of to do it, didn’t even think about paddling back up river should have paid attention lol. Great video though and very helpful!

I fish a lot where you guys were about 12 minutes into the video. There are some really nice smallies in that river. We've caught some big fish in there.

In the spring we use green pumpkin tubes, the purple color tubes in the deep water and crank baits and husky jerks in the shallow water. When the fish are on they are crazy fun to catch. My buddy I fish with picks on me every time we go up there I catch a big drum. He calls me the drum king. LOL Anyway thank you all for the videos keep them coming.

Great video, Brother John, but I'm seeing what appears to be some Sunburn on them legs of yours. Better break out some kind of Suntan Lotion there, the next time you wear shorts, and end up sitting in your Kayak, fishin'! I remember one time back in 1980, when my Brother, and a friend of ours, went swimming on a hot June day, at the City Swimming Pool. I got sunburned so bad on my legs, , that I didn't even want to move for a couple days. It hurt like fire!!! Just be careful out there, with shorts on. Lather up the ol' legs with some sunblock, or something that'll keep you from getting burnt to the proverbial crisp! Tight lines to ya, Brother, and keep on haulin' in them fish!!!

I bet! Being in the yak it’s often easy to forget that meat that gets exposed when you’re sitting.
