If you want to turn 180 degrees or 360, it will turn on a dime. Slow down and stop. Put the prop tips barely in the water. Give it some gas. It will spin you around to the right like a zero turn lawn mower. Get rid of the oil cutoff switch. Get a 12 foot push pole that floats and tie a small rope to it. Buy the prop puller and carry an extra prop and spark plug. Carry a small tool box with duct tape, several types of screwdrivers, small crescent wrench, spark plug wrench, piece of sand paper for cleaning spark plug, needle nose, channel lock pliers, set of Allen wrenches, zip ties, etc.......... I installed an automatic bilge pump in mine and also carry a hand pump and bucket, just in case.

Great presentation and info. Have 15 hp Johnson. Barely used . I will be using on a creek to catfish and put out /take in fishing lines. No log jumping or mudd running but there are a few honey holes that are tough to get at. Question ? Do you think my Johnson is good for my needs or a 6.5 Preditor? I got the Johnson from a friend at a steal of a deal. Thinking about selling itnfor a set up like yours. Thanks and again, great video for us rookies.

I had the same issue with the engine shuttin off due to the oil sensor. Its on a rototiller and when I would sink the tines it would really lean back n shut off. I just put a few more ounces of oil in it. Considering that's where it's gonna be the runnin position anyway, ot didn't hurt the engine. After watchin this video, that engine is gonna be used for something else. 😉👊

@@PolkFishin gotcha. Totally understand that. We run those copperhead mud motor surface drives and they really get up so we need weight in the front. We end up putting 10 or 12 gals tanks in the front and running a fuel line from there. Just helps keep the front end down when we are by ourselves

@@PolkFishin i work in a lawn equipment shop. I think what he's trying to say is using gasoline with ethanol in it will eventually harden the diaphragm inside the carburetor and will eventually give you problems. I have seen this before but more often with motors that run ethanol gas and then let the machine set up for a while without running it. For instance if you use this as a seasonal rig. Ethanol Free will be the way to go.

@@tommak6516 what I've see in the past is some stations have more ethanol than others. Heavy amounts of ethanol hurts your carbs. To answer your question, yes running your tanks empty tend to extend the life of your machine.

@@PolkFishin You are correct. Almost any engine will run on American "gasohol" of the recommended octane and suffer no ill effects - even ones with carburetors. The problem only rears its ugly head after an engine has been stored, or maybe even just sat idle for a couple of weeks, when the ethanol crystallizes and clogs the carburetor. And unfortunately, the smaller the carb, the faster it will happen and the more profound the problem will be. Curiously, this does not happen to nearly the same degree in fuel injected engines. It has to do with carburetors having a plethora of small jets and passageways inside them along with a pool of fuel that, through various air vents etc, are all pretty much exposed to atmospheric conditions. ...So just be aware of this and take proper precautions when not using or storing a carbureted motor, that's all. By the way... great video!👍Thanks for posting it, and I didn't mean to hijack it or sidetrack you.
