I have the same engine in a 1964 impala SS, it has a th400 2500 torque converter, but i feel it’s not performing at it’s best, could you tell me what timing is good for it, the person who’s looked at it says you can’t set the timing with a flash gun, so he was kinda guessing it, any advice on what I can have it set at? Thanks

@@SSPENGINES383 Do those heads have the steam ports that the 400 blocks require? My Malibu and I are in the caribbean, options are limited, but i do want to upgrade the heads on my SBC 400. any help/info is greatly appreciated.

@@SSPENGINES383 watsup man, just picked up a mostly stock 400 last friday. rpm performer , 600 holley, long tube going in a mostly street driven el camino. what would you reccomend for heads and cam and stall ? wish i could build a 400 like yours but budget dont allow it. always watch your videos. from california

650 is def too small for that motor

Depends on what rpm range and use for it is. Bust most times yes a 750 is needed but customer have what they have im guessing

I agree. The 650 might feel ok around town. But since he is trying to get the quickest et, it's killing that 440 for sure.
