Here's a tip to save yourself some beer...use yeast and plain old water instead! It's the yeast that attracts them! Cheers🍺

I was a little sceptical but gave it a try. I’ve been rather shocked to average 100+ trapped slugs a night in a small 500g butter tub. Slugs decimated my sunflowers, and this was a desperation move to save the runt of my seedings . So far it is outgrowing the damage the few not attracted to the trap are doing, and the are signs that the skeletons of a coupling the other chewed up sunflowers might be trying to recover. Thanks! :)

Years ago when I lived in Vancouver, WA I had a big slug problem. Tried the beer solution and it worked great, until it didn't. I found out my cat was drinking all the beer so there wasn't any left for the slugs. Oh well. I guess my mistake was using a saucer without a lid.

In the "for what it's worth" department, I saw a time lapse video where a university tested beer traps. It was eye opening. Yes, you may catch and drown a few slugs, but easily three times as many came, drank and left.

This isn't a fair comparison, the pellets don't kill the slugs right away like the beer, the pellets immediately stop the slugs from eating then a few days later kills them, the beer drowns them right away, so technically the pellets are better, less clean up, but the beer is faster
