Here's a good thought for the day to cheer you up while you recover :-) You are almost at 40,000 subscribers..... AND.... the stitch meditation scroll video is heading towards half a million views !!!!! Wow..... In less than a year. That is incredible. Many KZread channels never reach those kinds of numbers --- even after years and years. It is proof as to how much we love your videos and your stitching and your wittering. So stitch and witter on !!!!! Congratulations.

I almost had a heart attack😅! You had told me you were going to talk about my boxes, but I wasn’t expecting it now and I felt sooooo excited 😃to hear you say my name (you’re the only one who says my name correctly 🙏🏻) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 I have maybe two or three of my mother’s pillow cases that she made herself when she got married in 1969, and they’re exactly like that, because she used them a lot and I ended up using them too. I have them in a drawer, not daring to throw them away and not knowing what could I do with them, since I’ve already mended them as much as possible. So I’m so so happy with this video. I will dye the cloth, because it’s white and maybe make a little pouch just for the pleasure of having it. And, as that lady said, I am so glad I’m a part of a community of people who keep things that “normal” people throw away. No one knows I kept them 😂. I sincerely hope you feel better soon. Sending lots of love from sunny ☀️ Portugal (I was the only Portuguese who didn’t care a bit when Portugal lost 😂) 🌸🌹🌼🪻🌻🪷🌺🌷♥️💛🩵💚💙💜🩶🧡🤎🩷🤍❤️🩶🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗

Hi Kathryn. I just set up my iPad to see what you were doing today and had a great surprise that you’re doing zokin. I found some of those videos this week and had planned to tell you about them. I got so excited about them being the kind of thing you (and we) like that I made four from old dish rags and some leftover double gauze. And they work better than the original cloths. Discussing the hierarchy of clean to dirty cloth use, that was definitely part of farm life. Dirtiest though was always Dad’s rags that he wiped grease off of his hands, then the tiny scraps of the oldest cloths went into the furnace of his garage to be burned and heat the work shop.

Respair - what a wonderful word for an important idea. Today is our 49th wedding anniversary, and we are very happy to celebrate still being together. Without going into personal information, let's say that I can testify to the importance and reality of respair in a relationship that spans several decades. I will stitch with this thought in mind for the rest of today and when I finally do the Zokin piece. I have some threadbare dusters that must be about 49 years old and are a horrible once-yellow-now greyish shade. I am going to tea dye one or two or them and then stitch them, "one for show and one for blow", execept that it will be "and one for wiping up mucky stuff".

I enjoyed learning a new word and the way you relate it to the word repair makes perfect sense. I know it's tough to work when you don't feel well, but you still did a fine job. I have not had time or energy to watch this through to the end or to start the Zokin-inspired project this week (yet), so it suits me down to the ground to have something so restful and also potentially useful to try. I have had extra grandma duties this week - lovely to have more time with three of the grandsons, but I have felt like I have had a hangover every day, and even woke up in the night because of a headache! I have been thinking of edging the old towel halves I use for Oscar - he's a mini Yorkie and I am definitely going to do that now - it will be really relaxing to do i think. 🙂 I really like the word respair and the whole concept of a return to hope - I wasn't aware of the word. I also have a couple of items for visible repairs so I will re-watch the mending videos - although they are teeny holes so maybe a piece on the inside is the way to go. This is going to be very helpful as a way of building my confidence and going with the flow. Ah. I grew up with zokin cleaning cloths. To me they should start out beautiful. Left over cotton sewing fabric. Primarily wood floor water hand mopping cloths, I wouldn’t want one looking ragged or dirty from the start.

@@jant4741 culture of contrasts indeed, I think that is partly why I find it so interesting. In my own Northern English heritage, I come from poor, working class people, materials were honoured through thrift, repaired and reused, nothing wasted. My Granny kept a dislike of old or secondhand things her whole life and could never understand my love of junk shops or buying my clothes from charity shops when I didn't need to do so. I think we are all more the same than we are different. I like to look for those connections across cultures and learn as much as I can along the way. ❤️
