Slow TV - A Walk Along Seatown Beach
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Join me for a walk along Seatown beach, in Dorset, on an overcast day in February, with the waves being all dramatic like.
Slow TV isn't for everyone - nothing is scripted here - no narration or music - nothing much happens, and certainly not on purpose, but that's OK - there are no unexpected loud noises in this video and no midroll ads. Mostly you will just hear the crashing of the waves and the crunch of shingle beneath my feet and occasional other natural sounds. You will also occasionally hear the sounds of other people enjoying the beach; enjoy this brisk walk with me, in the wind and weather.

Put me to sleep. Fell asleep, my reflexive grab hit the power button and woke me up. Then I had to reboot to get the last 5 minutes, lol. Did you get back to the car before dark? (Great walk! Love the colour of the gravel ... why is it so different from the colour of the cliffs? )
@AtomicShrimp
Жыл бұрын
This was around midday, only dark because it was so overcast. The gravel is orange because its composed of flint pebbles that contain iron (the orange is basically microscopic particles of rust in the rock)
@AtomicShrimp
Жыл бұрын
Oh, and it's different from the cliffs partly because the flint nodules embedded in the layers there are large and grey. The orange colour happens through weathering and as the nodules break and wear down in the waves.

Thank you, Mr. Shrimp. I used to love walking along the beach, but since my back injury, it's no longer possible. The sound of the waves and your footsteps took me back to those peaceful times. I could almost smell the salt in the air! Your content is, imho, the most beneficial on KZread. You inform, entertain, and bring peace, even in these turbulent times. Thank you. ❤️
These videos always help when i feel alone and sad
The sound quality is most impressive.

Thanks. Really happy with it - that's just the inbuilt mics in the gopro, with a foam wind shield, but for a video like this I can leave it in stereo, which greatly adds to the sense of presence I think
Hi Mike, I wish I could do this. I live less than a mile from the beack in Suffolk. Our beach is all pebble, and with me being in a wheelchair, it is a real nobgo. Thanks for posting. Best wishes to you, Jenny and Doggo

Beaches and wheelchairs do not mix, and onevlocal idiot goy his Range Rover stick on the beach a couple days f years back. It got driwned with 2 high tides. Wechave a super long and flat promenade with a nice, wheelchair froendly pier. The swa aadly herevis pretty grim,?hhaving the biggestbport in Europe, andvthe beach is a man made sea defensevas the southern end of the town aits below seavlevel

Many moons ago I'm sure Felixstowe had a couple of all terrain 'wheelchairs' that could be used on pebbly beaches🤔. They probably went the way most things do theses days, no longer available because of lack of funding.
I was intending to read my newsfeed, but hit the wrong icon, so ended up here and a quarter of an hour of surf, sea and shingle instead. A much better start to a Sunday morning. Thank you. 🙂
Watching vids like these is the best part of KZread in my experience. I’ve said it a couple times but thank you for the content.
Peace and happiness in a bottle... I grew up by the sea and these sounds feel like home.
This video was absolute joy to relax to before work. I think you could class it as Nature ASMR even! I could listen to the waves of the sea forever.
your channel is a gift. i enjoy the variety.
Thank you so much Mike, for the joy you bring to those of us who are unable to do this for ourselves. This old mobility impaired woman loves to accompany you, Eva and Mrs Shrimp on your walks. Your relaxed commentary sets just the right tone for a happy ramble. Love all your varied content, but these walks are my favourites.

@@kimvibk9242 - I was wondering about the tide, but knowing Shrimp, he will have checked the tide times before such a walk.
I love this kind of ambiance, same with trains and woods
I really needed this today. Yesterday was one of the worst days I've had to deal with in years - without going into any details, it's still not really over because there's police coming around to take a statement today about it. I'm not able to take a slow walk myself, but boy do I really need one. Thank you so much.

I laid down and closed my eyes. I listened to the waves. It was so nice. I grew up near the beach. I thought when I moved away almost 20 years ago that I wouldn't miss it but I do. Your beachs look so different from mine. Yours are like a deserted alien landscape. Mine is an overpopulated tourist trap. It was so much better when I was younger. I love your slow tv so much. I look forward to every video. It's a highlight of my week. Thank you, Mr. Shrimp
Am absolutely loving your exploring Dorset videos. Having grown up on the Somerset/Dorset border these places were often the destination of a Sunday afternoon 'drive' as a child (now in my 50's so a while ago!). Lambert's Castle and Burton Bradstock were great places to visit too. Can't wait to see where you go next!
Sound and colours - wow wow wow!
Wow what a beautiful beach ,plus the waves are very loud & thanks Atomic shrimp 🤗
I've been having a stressful time at work, and the sound of gravelly beaches is very soothing~

This is almost exactly the beach I pictured when I read The Drawing of the Three 30 years ago 😳
I just went for a walk on the beach on the opposite side of the world in Australia. It is always so relaxing. Good to see.
Ah, just as I was sitting down for dinner. Perfect relaxation while I devour a tasty meal. Thank you!
Perfect. Love it.
In an internet landscape of overstimulation, these Slow TV videos are a godsend!
Relaxing with my coffee. Eyes closed. Listening to the waves crashing on the shore. What could be more pleasurable, than that.
By far one of your most relaxing videos. I usually only watch your scam baiting ones, which are hilarious. I haven't heard the roar of the ocean crashing against the beach in years, this really takes me back. Thank you.
Thank you for the relaxing ambiance and scenery, it was very needed; god bless.
Absolutely mesmerizing. Thank you for taking us along on your walk, sir. It means a lot to me because due to health I can't travel far. Walking the beaches and hiking the parks were one of my favorite things; tagging along electronically helps satisfy my need. I particularly enjoyed seeing the winking face in the cliffside at around 9:20 . I reflexively winked back. 😉
Loved that!!I enjoyed a late breakfast watching that,so beautiful! Please do more such beach walks!
I'm amazed at how you can keep up that brisk walk non-stop for well over 15 minutes. You're obviously remarkably fit.

@@AtomicShrimp OIC... Nevertheless, a walk like that would have taken an out-of-condition old codger like me well over an hour, (one way only), not to mention that I'd probably need to be transported back by rescure helicopter! 😂
I love the sea. And beaches are my favourite places to be. I love the sound of the waves, the wind, the scrunching of the shingle underfoot, the cry of sea birds. I can almost smell the salty air and seaweed and feel the wind across my face. Your video evokes the full experience and my heart is gladdened. Thank you!
I see the picture and the words of "Jamaica Inn" echo in my ears.
Wow, this brings me back to my holidays in southern England almost 10 years ago, these red stone beaches and cliffs... never been back since
So, it's 5:30 am on a Sunday morning, and of course I'm awake. Luckily, there's a relaxing Atomic Shrimp video to enjoy. Thanks Mike!

Love the sound of waves. I miss them. I used to live in Northern Michigan and spent as much time as I could walking and listening to Lake Michigan. Thank you for the peaceful start to my Sunday 😊
Loved the crunching footsteps and the wooshing of the waves. Thanks
I enjoy your slow tv videos very much, thanks for making them
Good Job Mr. Shrimp. How nice to be near the sea. The last time I was at the cost was over 10 years ago. I love hearing the the ferociousness of the waves crashing against the rocks. The sea as so much power. I live about 900 km from the nearest coast, however in the municipality where I live, we have over 300 lakes. Some of the larger lakes like Lake Superior and Lake Huon do product some crashing waves and surf when the conditions are right.
If it weren't for the footprints you could suppose you were the only person on earth. Bleak and forbidding, yet beautiful because of it. Thanks for the vid.
Just wanted to say that I really love this channel! Strangely, I’ve been watching since I was about 17!- I love how peaceful everything is here :)
Thanks Mike! I am so enjoying this morning walk on the beach! What a lovely way to start the day.
This is the best slow tv vid I have watched yet , love it. Very relaxing, in fact I’m going to watch it again. 😊
Thanks! That was the perfect afternoon walk.
Thank you very much. I currently live in a dirty and noisy city in the middle east. This reminded me of the majestic natural beauty of the home that I miss so much.
*crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch crunch*
My dog was very much interested in the waves while watching on my phone. She gave a little cute head tilt.
Beautiful video! Thank you 😁
this is great, I can't get out now, so this is just what I needed.
So relaxing, thank you
i love all of your slow tv. please never stop making them!
Wow! This was fantastic, thank you!🤩
Thanks Mike. Bloody brilliant.
Miss having this nearby after I moved from U.K. to US. Nearest ocean is a good 10 hour drive. Could just listen to those waves all day
thank you - I really need this today :)
All I could think about during the video was the extent to which Mike's footprints were affecting the speed and direction of the waves as they returned to the sea, and whether it were possible they could exponentially create a difference out at sea. I don't know why I think this way.
Thankyou chap, now I have seen this I dont need to go out today :) thankyou for bringing note to one of our local hidden treasures. look forwards to the next , maybe one of our areas lost railways perhaps or an iron age fort ?
Thank you for a very nice vid
This has reminded me that I've been meaning to go back to a beach for nearly a year!
I just love the randomness of this channel 😄
There's something so distinctive about the soft undulating texture of a grey English sky stretching out over the Channel. I live very very far away but it's a true pleasure to be able to return for a few moments to that place. Thanks Mike.
So relaxing with headphones on thanks.
Sixteen minutes of mindful goodness
That's a lovely beach walk for a Sunday, thank you Mike. I can't do it myself as even the Velociraptor* doesn't cope well with gravel. (*Jurassic pet name for Veloped walker).
that was lovely. very relaxing.
Just what I needed at this moment :)
I love knitting to Slow TV, thanks for taking us along!
Very impressive. The sea sounds so violent and the waves are small but forcefull. Both threatening and fascinating at the same time. Thank you very much.🐚
Thank you Mr. Shrimp. That should tide me over till you're next vid.
Love the contrast between to orange sand and darker boulders. Why are there no strandlines on this beach? Living in west yorks we are 'right in the middle' and really miss the sea so this is a real tonic for the senses. Hope you had a lovely day
Nice video ! Just along from there is golden cap which is the highest point on the south coast! I remember walking from charmouth over golden cap to west bay via sea town . Beautiful views .
After babysitting my boss, and potty training the puppy in -33°F, and the fire department showing up for CO2 issues with the oven….this was a much needed escape from my bubble of the world. A day trip to a windy beach would be so pleasant. Thank you for the momentary excursion. It was much needed. ❤
You're uploading so fast! Haven't even watched the last video yet.
My favourite ASMR. Atomic Shrimps Mellow Ramblings.
Thank you Shrimp. A Sunday morning meander across a bracing seashore. Sound of the ocean crashing on the rocks while tucking into eggy bread on the sofa. Thanks again.
So lovely
What a beautiful place, Mike. For some reason, I started humming the first few bars of 'Fingal's Cave', by Felix Mendelssohn. Completely wrong part of the country, but those lowering skies brought it on. Very soothing, the swash and backswash of the water, the crunch of the shingle, the fragments of talk on the wind. As you go further, and leave the people behind, the beauty becomes almost sinister - a sense of solitude and wilderness. I must find some time soon, and have a day at the edge of the land. Dunwich, Sizewell, or Shingle Street would fit the bill perfectly, I think. Love the video. Nice one. 👍👍👍
My girlfriend and I went to Weymouth and Lyme Regis a couple of weeks ago largely spurred on by your recent fossil hunting videos. Living in the new forest it's easy to fall in to walking and exploring these parts of the world but it's good to venture a little further and see what else there is around! Excited to see what else of Dorset you have to show. I was raised in Poole but now live and work in Hampshire, so loving your new videos taking me back that way!
Love the sound of the ocean.
love this beach, i come swimming everyday in the summer here its amazing
I often listen to wave and ocean sounds to fall asleep to so this video was very enjoyable.
The sound and visual of the waves crashing on the beach is so soothing! I can't wait until our beaches are unfrozen here in Canada (although they do get really cool frozen ice formations on the shore)
I'm not a huge fan of beaches (because of usually windy conditions) but I loved experiencing it through your Slow TV. ❤️Cheers from Texas!
The beach is so orange
mr shrimp...best and fav channel on yt..imo
What kind of sand is that?? I've been to beaches that are covered in smooth gravel, but I've never seen sand like this before.

Wow. Thanks for the sound of the ocean, I haven't been to one in a while. My favorite is the Atlantic.
Amazing...
After watching this I'm now off to listen to 'oh I do like to be beside the seaside' by Blob Opera
Just came back from the beach myself, so watching this is pretty funny 😅
Nice tranquil video. No fossil hunting though in those sedimentary cliff layers.
The Title and Content of the video made me think of Dream Academy - Life In A Northern Town. Don't know why. Thanks for the walk on the beach and down memory lane. C-)
Love it Mike, I do watch a cpl of slow living channels & enjoy them very much so if this is somehting you enjoy doing, no talking just natural sounds then please carry on :D You could even make a separate channel for it, ASMR channels are great to escape in :)
Lovely
I long for a retirement like this!!
Such a nice walk listening to the wind, waves and gravel crunching underfoot. Does this beach get any interesting things washed up on it? Dad and I went beach combing at Lybster,Scotland and found lots of sea glass in pretty colors. It was fun and relaxing. This is our favorite time of year for beach combing locally. The storms wash interesting things up and there are few tourists.
