One thing I appreciate about your videos Shrimp, is that you just seem to enjoy life. The very simplest of things you document and are sincere about your feelings toward them. I’m sure many may have said this before but it doesn’t hurt to show that many people agree. Having your videos on while I’m idly going about my day can be a real pick up whenever I’m down. The best way to cut is on an angle in between straight and diagonal. Your first bite takes care of the smaller end and you're left with a sandwich portion that is easier to handle than both a triangle (whose floppy corners might annoy) and the rectangle (whose middle is more prone to falling out). Or maybe I just like the way it looks, idk.

It hardly qualifies as a food recommendation, but I accidentally discovered that slightly melted butter on bread is very delicious. Also, it's not really all that exciting, but I'm a big fan of squashsagne, where you replace the pasta plates with slices of squash. Can also be done length-wise as sort of independent boats of squashsagne, which is the way to go if you don't like excessive preparations or moisture

I have to come out here as a German gone crazy (crazy by German standards): I love English breakfast. That's why I eat it twice a year, not only because it's relatively unhealthy, no, but to keep it up as something special. At some point, I had the crazy idea of developing a transportable English breakfast sandwich. In other words, a sandwich that contains all the edible components (that is, all possible drinks excluded) of it without them being able to leak out. Except for the baked beans in their sauce, all components are non-liquid. So what to do? Separate the beans from the sauce and put them on bread? No, that doesn't work because the beans are loose and can just fall out of the sandwich. I quickly came up with the idea: pureeing is the answer! So off I went: So I nimbly took a large tin of baked beans, poured them into a mixing bowl and held the hand blender in and pureed everything well once. After that, I first noticed that the mixture was creamy, but still too liquid. So there was only one thing left to do: bring it to the boil and simmer, because beans contain starch and liquid evaporates when simmering. That helped a little, so I added potato starch while stirring until the mixture became a greasy, but no longer liquid paste. Now I could assemble my "English breakfast for takeaway": So I toasted two slices of toast, smeared one side with butter each; on the bottom slice I smeared a little-finger-thick of my baked bean paste, on top came blood pudding, scrambled eggs that I had, however, fried in one toast slice size in one piece, on top the fried tomato slice and bangers, and as a "lid" used the second slice of bread. It tasted damn good! It was a heart attack to eat, but it was umami and full-bodied flavour at its best! You should try it sometime!

This is the only channel I watch that is so random, I can never predict the next video's topic, and I love it. You are an absolute weirdo and I mean that at an extremely high compliment. You're almost at one million subscribers, how exciting! The weird food combination my mom (also a black pepper fiend) and I enjoy is actually a weird party food recipe from the 1950s (I think?) and it's vile and we love it. It's a sandwich made of cheap soft white bread (think wonder bread), butter, Cheez Whiz (nasty stuff but tasty in this application) and sliced green olives (the cheap jarred Manzannilla kind stuffed with pimento) Separately, the ingredients are not normally things I would eat (except butter) but together, it's a fantastic snack that I actually crave sometimes. I think in the recipe, you're supposed to trim the bread crusts and cut them into finger sandwiches, but we never bothered. (Edited to add: did Eva get the end bit of cheese left over?) :)

Hey Mr Shrimp, your videos always make me smile and brighten my day. I would never be brave enough to forage anything, but love watching you forage ingredients and cook them into something special. My favourite was the Chicken in the Woods. That looked super tasty.

Interesting stuff Mr Shrimp! That will be an "overburden" year, and it's crazy how all the trees know which year that is!? And I do like the sound of a "croc" on a walk on a gravel path in the country, reminds me of many my own walk!

Excellent video! I love your 'miscellany' type videos. I used to visit a pub in town, with my late father, and we'd have a baked bean and cheese toastie each for lunch. Messy, but damn, they were good. Slipped down easy with a pint of bitter.

I really do like the positive comment reactions. They're very pleasant. I just came back from a vacation to Chincoteague Island, a barrier island off the East Coast of the US. We've visited there many times, but this time your nature walk videos inspired me to look more closely at the many interesting marsh and shore plants, so thank you.

Congratulations Mr Shrimp on your first baked bean sandwich, I got a wave of nostalgia watching you eat that, as I grew up having them on my lunch in school. Another sandwich I had regularly was grated carrot with mayonnaise. but you have to mix the grated carrot in with the mayonnaise and then put it on the sandwich, still have both of those sandwiches on occasion to this day and I love them. :)

One of my go to for when weird food combos come up is, nutella and pepperoni. I heard about it in a video long ago and have since tried it as a sandwich and it works quite well. The initial idea sounds bad, but the idea of spicy and sweet/chocolate is quite novel. For an added layer I fried the pepperoni to crisp it a little for a nice crunch in the sandwich.

Unrelated to this video but was in Jersey recently and went on a guided tour walk across the beach about a mile to Seymour Tower on the South coast of the island. I wasn't someone who was that interested in nature (or walking) until seeing your videos and was glad I did the walk. We had an excellent guide who like yourself was very knowledgeable.

Just an FYI, there's an actual garlic festival held in Gilroy California each year; you'd be amazed at the creative food items made with garlic (including ice creams). There's a website if curiosity gets the best of you - we really appreciate the plant identifications, we learn something on all of your outings (you're a natural teacher). Cheers!

My ice-cream hack was to melt vanila ice cream in the microwave until it is just pliable, then mix in a couple of handfulls of rice krispies or corn flakes . The dish now tastes like eating the last bite of an ice cream cone. Aall wafery and soaked in ice cream and lovely

31:00 ish -- out here in the Pacific Northwest, whenever we go hiking, ferns are probably the most prevalent plant, with portions of the trails being ferns as far as you can see - and every single time, I make a comment about how well fern-ished that trail is. My SO has a love-hate relationship with that joke by now. 🙂 Thanks for the video! Love these random videos the most.

I was doing a bbq the other day, and I found that garlic bread drizzled with bbq sauce and then grilled went down a treat. It becomes sweet, and depending on the sauce, it can have a nice light tang in the back. I know it may sound a little strange, but I find it is well worth a try. Love your videos💜

My grandmother liked to put chutney on her vanilla ice cream. She made her own chutney using pear instead of apple since she thought the texture was better. I understand chutney on ice cream, but I don't understand siracha on it. I have heard of garlic ice cream at the garlic festival, but I draw the line at eating it. I really liked the trail walk. I wish we had something like that where I live. It would be lovely to explore a trail without worrying about rattlesnakes, copperheads, and water moccasins (all venomous snakes) , or rabid animals (an occasional possibility) , alligators, wild boars, and other hazards to be careful and alert to. I'm not a fan of bears. I really enjoy the parts where you name the wild plants. I wish I had had a reliable guide to help identify the local wild plants back when I was young.
