Is this effective? I started at 245 and I got myself down to 219. I was fast pace walking a little over 4 miles. I’m now at that stage where the scale doesn’t wanna move. I also find it harder to continue my fast pace walking, because my body in constantly getting use to the pace I walk which makes it harder to keep my heart rate up. Yes, I watch how I eat and I’m not taking in any sugars. My doctor told me to stay away from sugars including fruit. I’m not a diabetic. I downloaded the 5k training app, because I wanted something to help me jog. I don’t wanna run in races, I’m not a competitive person. I’m just looking to shave off more weight and be able to actually jog and not stop every few seconds for a breather. I’m on week 2 of my apps plan. I jog at this pace and I feel like it’s too easy. I don’t wanna go hard, but I wanna make sure what I’m doing is counting and going to help me. The app tells you, you should still be able to talk/sing as you jog and if you have trouble slow it down. After the lets say 25 minute day exercise of that app I can still continue without feeling exhausted and tired. It’s 1.5 minute x4 jog and 2 x4 minute walk then it goes down to 1 minute jog x2 and 1.5 minute walk x2 for 25 minutes. After I’m done I continue to push myself and do more.

Might I suggest five burpees, every time you feel like it's too easy... unless any sort of jumping at all is hard on your knees?

@@smallkancil when I was at the gym with a personal trainer burpees was like his favorite method. 🤣 I can do it, just don’t like it. I’ll take that into consideration though. I’ve been meaning to do something else besides just jog. It is a good exercise I’ll admit.

At the end of the day it's always going to come down to how many calories you're consuming. You can't outrun or out-exercise a bad diet. Exercise just means you can eat a little bit more while still using weight. Exercise is great for a bunch of reasons, but if you find that you've stopped losing weight you either need to exercise more while eating the same or eat fewer calories if you want the number on the scale to go down. Eating sugar really doesn't matter for weight loss, it just isn't very satiating and you'll probably find that you eat more fruit than you would veggies to satisfy your hunger.

@@rud69420 I agree, I have pushed myself more harder since then. I have gotten down to 206 and going longer distance. I’m now going over 3 miles and working my way to 4. I’ve been using the same eating method since I’ve started and have hit spots time and time where it feels like I’m not moving from that spot. (Weight wise). About a week later of continuing it starts to drop down again. Guess I’m building muscle. I went from a size 18 to a size 12. I nearly cried when I finally bought a pair of pants because I honestly thought in my mind I was gonna be in a 14. Never in my life that I remember have I ever been past a 16 in jeans. Probably when I was little of course. I honestly didn’t think that I have lost that much. Sure the numbers sound amazing, but when it comes to the body it’s a bit different. When the 14’s were big I grabbed a 12. I still have some room. I can pull them out and stick my hand inside without it being tight. I should of tried a size 10, but I was just so over whelmed I got the 12s and left. I’m gonna use them and enjoy them.

@@sadisticraven4391 That's awesome. Congratulations. It would be fairly unusual for your weight to be dropping linearly each day so don't worry if it stalls for a week or two, that don't necessarily mean you weren't/aren't losing weight. Sounds like you've made great progress.

I'm a little confused. Aren't your feet supposed to leave the ground when you're jogging? In this video, they seem to always have a foot on the ground just like walking. I'd like to try this slow jogging, but want to be sure I am doing it correctly.

When you first start, your steps are very short. It's basically a shuffle. As you get into better shape, your slow is a lot less slow. You have to keep a pace of 180 steps per minute. The best way to get the hang is to either get a metronome app or download Runzi, which will tell your your stride rate. If it is under 180, shorten your stride. If it is much over 180, lengthen it.

@@wvu05 Thanks for your reply. So, it's more like fast walking where one foot is always on the ground? In true jogging and running, both feet are off the ground between each step. Watching the videos for slow jogging, the steps are so small that it's hard to tell if they're off the ground or not.

  • @wvu05

@@xiamengbaby Any time. It's not. It's just very short steps. If you are out of shape, a 15:00/mile pace would be too much. This works out to a little less than two feet per step. A 10:00/mile pace is just under three feet. They have other videos from different angles, and you can clearly see that both feet come off the ground. It is impossible to keep a foot on the ground at 180 steps per minute. Most amateur joggers tend to take steps closer to five feet at about 150-160 steps per minute.

@@wvu05 Thanks. I wanted to give this a try as I think I tore a meniscus a couple summers ago and need to find something lower impact than regular running/jogging to try and get back into cardio conditioning. Oh, and thanks for the tip on the running cadence app. I didn't know they had such a thing. I'll try that out.

@@xiamengbaby I think it is definitely something that is better for people who are beginning or trying to return to fitness. For me, it was something I found randomly when looking for something else, but the science shows that this is the place where it is optimal to burn fat, and having gained a lot after a vicious cycle of being injured which led to being bored which led to eating which led to injury, and the fact that every time I tried to run again that my brain and legs would be used to a much faster pace that I couldn't hold. If you want to race at anything shorter than the marathon, it's not a long term plan, but it is a good transition.
