Some people can be so rude always something negative to say about where Jack was cooking. I noticed that his kitchen had a washer and dryer right ! I also noticed that he had a clean cooking surface area. He showed me all of the steps to end up with the best seasoned beef using a corn beef brisket recipe. Hats off to you Jack !! Your recipe was the best! And for all of you that are making fun of where he was cooking hope to your food taste as good as his !

jack i believe a slow cooker is one of the best ways to cook meat, and a chuck roast is the number 1 roast to slow cook. i can tell just by the looks of that roast that u nailed it! i will be cooking a very similar version of this ASAP

@ljewkes beef stock contains more stuff than beef broth. sometimes it will have vegetables in the mix. Beef broth is just broth from beef.

Hi Jack.. Well.. I went out and bought the items I didn't have in the cupboard.. plus the meat.. and by the time I got home. I didn't really have enough time for the Slow Cooker.. so put everything in a roasting pan and shoved it into the Oven..And I must say.. It is the best Roast I have every made... Yum.. Next time I will put it into the slow cooker.. but I wanted it now... LOL..

Yes jack! Lazy man version is a great idea, we have don't the lazy man ribs and just last week we did the pulled pork and I was shocked how good it was, we purpously went out and bought a slow cooker. Amazing! Thanks for looking out for the little guys, keep it up.

I made the recipe tonight. It was simple, the prep took a little bit, but was worth it. The dish came out great. I followed the recipe step by step. The end result was a super tender beef and sweet tasting veggies. I hope you make more crock pot recipes in the future. Hopefully something more spicy!

@darkskull911 Buy one. They're one of the cheapest appliances you can get. Sometimes they are on sale for about $20. Get at least a 16 quart one with a removable crock so it is easier to clean. All you need is a low/high/off knob. Put a roast in it in the morning with some potatoes, carrots, onions, celery and about 2 cups of broth. The first time you come home from work and your dinner is waiting for you, you'll be hooked.

Slow cooking is awesome!!! I did some pulled pork over onions in apple cider and used the juices to baste every hour for a nice slow 8 hour session... mmmmm. I love the beer you're throwing in this mix. Fosters is great with sausage cooked slow in the oven... Oh man do I have to start getting the good stuff up.. Great job with this piece!! I look forward to giving it a shot! Yum

Been using my croc pot for eons, it's great! Also have this '6 items or less' slow cooker cookbook that I've been happy with... quick and easy. I embellish as my mood dictates. Especially like coming home to a wonderfully smelling house! Have and use a pressure cooker with good results as well... however, there was a longish learning period to get the timing right. But with practice, one can have a full blown fork tender pot roast plated in (depending on weight) under 2 hours.

@CaptChadd yes. you have to stir often but it will work. Try using a thick pot or dutch oven and a low flame. keep mixing every 10 minutes or so.

Yummie! It is almost identical to the way i make this stuff. except i give the meat a nice dry rub of seasoning the night before. Also i cut little holes in the meat at put pieces of garlic inside. Works perfect with pork shoulder too.

All cooking is experiments and that is the spice of life. The same thing over and over again becomes boring. Even gold loses its luster after a while.

made it this afternoon around 2pm Got home around 2 am approx 12hrs It is so moist and tasty beyond belief . Great recipe Only drawback is that i only bought 1lb shoulder roast and minus beer celery and molasses . Next time 3lbs or more and rest of the ingredients

made it this afternoon around 2pm Got home around 2 am approx 12hrs It is so moist and tasty beyond belief . Great recipe Only drawback is that i only bought 1lb shoulder roast and minus beer celery and molasses . Next time 3lbs or more and rest of the ingredients
You know what mate? Seeing you tearing that meat apart and chewing it, made me open myself a tin of corned beef in the middle of the night! So irresistible!!!

One thing about slow cooking my wife told me, put a little bit of the 'goodness' in first, just to elevate the meat so it isn't touching the bottom.
