LYRICS
She seems dressed in all the rings
Of past fatalities
So fragile yet so devious
She continues to see
Climatic hands that press
Her temples and my chest
Enter the night that she came home
Forever
Oh (She's the only one that makes me sad)
She is everything and more
The solemn hypnotic
My Dahlia bathed in possession
She is home to me
I get nervous, perverse, when I see her it's worse
But the stress is astounding
It's now or never she's coming home
Forever
Oh (She's the only one that makes me sad)
Hard to say what caught my attention
Fixed and crazy, aphid attraction
Carve my name in my face, to recognize
Such a pheromone cult to terrorize
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
(Yeah!)
I'm a slave, and I am a master
No restraints and, unchecked collectors
I exist through my need, to self oblige
She is something in me, that I despise
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
I won't let this build up inside of me
SHE ISN'T REAL!
I CAN'T MAKE HER REAL!
SHE ISN'T REAL!
I CAN'T MAKE HER REAL!
(She isn't real, I can't make her real)
(She isn't real, I can't make her real)

I feel that while the song itself is about obsession to the point where you lose your mental stability, there's a sense of sadness in the music video being the reverse: It's about someone who wants to _so hard_ have a connection to someone, only to be unable to and slowly accepting they will be unable to.
Slipknot was my therapy when the pain built up when I thought there was no end. When a time I thought all was lost, the realism & extreme truth to their lyrics hits home that made me get out from the rabbit hole, crawl out, & rise to out from the depths of my depression. Forever a Maggot; Rest in Peace Joey!

Corey's voice transitions are amazing
Telling the story of someone who is lonely and isolated, through the eyes of someone who is lonely and isolated, and showing the frustration of not just being unable to connect with people, but being unable to connect with the people who are also frustrated at being unable to connect with people. I think the band dancing with her represent the people who truly understand her loneliness and frustration, and she can form bonds with them a little, but just like everyone else, soon they just vanish and are gone. When you are in this place of just not even being able to connect with other human beings, life really does move quick. That movie you wanted to see isn't in theatres anymore because you had no one to go watch it with. That cool party is over because no one invited you. That girl you liked now moved away because you couldn't quite break out of your shell and let your affection show. I'm sort of in this place now, watching my years of youth just fly away from me because I have no one, and I don't really know what to do to change it. I think I'm happy just being alone and spending time with my hobbies in silence, but there is an underlying frustration building up in the corners of my mind. I can't let it build up inside of me.

I just don't know what to say. You did it. You told great part of my life, except for my parent's twists which destroyed the little things I built in years. I even do get depressed so easily and so I suffer a lot. My routine is always going to school, go back home, eat and spend the time remaining till dinner in my loneliness. When I am alone facing my demons inside, even if I'd not like, I cry. Overall 'cause the person with I have the best "friendship", ignore me and the people who shall love me the most did just hurt me. And now, in the middle of the night, I thought hard about that. I' m pitiful.

So very sorry for your losses 😢
I LOVE how Corey Taylor sings tone, sounds and that melody of his voice resonates when I'm not your target demographic but I have battled depression and anxiety three-fourths of my 56 year old life. I found music at a very young age, turned me into a musician, a drummer where I could lose myself within whatever I was playing. It doesn't go away, it's just under the surface, it's there when no one knows when it will come again because it will. I'm glad I found music like this that I could lose myself in when there's so much that relates to each of us.
RIP Joey. Now a whole era of music has passed. The most sincere person who has ever played Slipknot has left...

Juan Carlos Barreto 18, I was about 8 y/o, not that little but I was new to this music, I could only remember a very slow girl crying and catching butterflies. When I clicked at this and saw the girl I was so happy! That was the only clue I had to this song and I've finally found it, the thing is I've known vermillion part 2 for years but never cared enough to hear part 1.

This video speaks to me. I often feel like I'm out of sync with everyone around me. It's terribly lonely, like I cannot talk or touch those around me. But sometimes I see beauty (footprint in the sand, the butterflies) that no one else seems to see. A shame no one can appreciate it.

Saaame. I sit in my bedroom 80% of the time when I'm not working. But when I'm outside, as i live in a heavily wooded area, i see all sorts of creatures i observe/help/handle. I see the beauty in it, but once I'm back inside, at work, or anywhere else.. i go back into my shell. I close everything and almost everyone off. I've always been this way, since i was a kid/early teen. Idk if I'll ever grow out of it at this point, but it's something I've learned to live with
Thank you for that song, Paul. Today is your 47th birthday. You aren’t real, but you’ve became real.

So instead of changing the lyrics to him ( f him btw) I'm going back to doing me🙄. None of this is f'n real. To be real, real. To be such a spoiled brat & still thinking the world owes you, while treating the more vulnerable like complete sh tho is just some complete 1 sided sh. Anyways Also him: that band you love so much Me: 🤔😕 what band? Him: slipknot Me: uhhh what Him: jk. What is it about them u dislike so much. Or Wever he said. :/ Me: dude idrk. But I know I don't wuv em. I know like an entire 1 song. Jk, maybe a little more. But still. I'm not really a fanatic over any musicians. Even the ones I really like.
