oof, good one
Almost certainly a social commentary, especially about how things are on things like Twitter and Facebook, living in a feedback (echo) chamber, hearing what you want to hear, silencing the left or right depending on which side people take. Meanwhile most normal people who don't feel strongly one way or another feel like they're being buried alive. Slipknot have always done great social commentaries, and this is no different.

It’s a song about a serial killer
He said, "We can't decide what's left of our right to silence our remains." It's wordplay for our right to remain silent.
Having listened to Slipknot Since 99. I am still gonna have to take some time and even perhaps listen to more of the album to really get what this song is about. Slipknot is on Nobel Prize winning level with the multi-level complexity lyrically as well as musically.
I thought it was more social commentary rather than political. I think Corey takes some inspiration from the world around us and you can hear it in his music, especially newer music.
You guys should react to… Slipknot - Vermilion 🎸🤘

Absolutely! But the album version, insted of the official video.
Definitely keep doing more Slipknot! Here. For. It.
It's about my home towns legendary serial killer known as the Yorkshire ripper. He roamed around a suburb called chapeltown and rag refers too a newspaper. The murders were left unsolved and hidden in articles

I saw a documentary on that. Wasn't the killer like Jack the ripper for the 1970s or something?

My mum used to know Sutcliffe and go round their house as my great grandma knew his family (lived near him). She told me that one of the young girls in the family at the time took her into his room and showed her a wardrobe with a cover draped over, inside was loads of masks and tools 👀she was only little at the time, scary stuff
Man you guys really made me appreciate the music and lyrical talent of Slipknot. The bars man they hit hard man 🤘🎸🔥🔥🔥
Saw it live in LA played for the first time. EPIC !!!!!
So great to see a true Metalhead in her natural habitat.

I totally understand you Lex..... They're very collegiate sounding LOL
Corey watched a Netflix documentary called The Ripper about a serial killer plaguing Northern England in the late '70s. Chapeltown, a suburb in the city of Leeds in West Yorkshire, was the hunting ground for Peter Sutcliffe, who became known as the "Yorkshire Ripper." After he completed it, Netflix recommended another serial killer documentary for Taylor, and he watched that, and then another, going down the proverbial rabbit hole. As the story goes, the local newspaper (or rag) in Chapeltown leaned on the theory by the lead detective on the case that the Ripper was choosing prostitutes or wayward women as his victims. As such, the search for the Ripper delved into the moral failings of the murdered women as opposed to the motivations of the killer. The case was famously bungled. Over the 5 year investigation, the police brought in and interviewed Sutcliffe nine times before they had enough evidence to arrest him and bring him to trial. Taylor relates this to a modern problem with the media. "They wasted all this time," sighs Taylor. "All this money, all these resources - all because they refused to be wrong. Now what does that sound like in this day and age?" "And it was just such a weird echo of social media. And the fact that social media tries to steer you toward violence or steer you toward the most toxic thing - the most toxic moment. So I looked at it from that standpoint.’" The song goes through the manipulations of the mainstream media as they course through the filters of social media and get even more distorted. The song documents the inevitable plunge of the truth into something unrecognizable.
Surfacing or Get This would be great tracks.
this song is about a serial killer in chapeltown, called the yorkshire ripper.
They are far into their careers. Hell, they have kids that just released an album! Lol
I believe the Chapeltown Rag is not only a newspaper but it has to do with a series of killings and murders in England or Europe. So this song has a lot of meaning behind it #HEAVY #SLIPKNOT #BANGER
yeah, more Slipknot!
You can tell this dude a hip hop head with just his facial reactions throughout the whole vid
Bullet For My Valentine and Killswitch Engage are definitely big recommendations!
This album is supposed to have new but also old stuff they've held onto a long time. Supposed to be a badass album. Can't wait. Week or 2 it should be released

Good to see slipknot back and rockin 🤘 Great reaction guys!
Omg I was just going to request doing this song!!! This new song kills so excited you guys reacted to it. Brad the lyrics are super on point in this song. Lex is just super jamming I love it!!!
Great Song 🤘🏻definitely enjoyed listening to your opinions and your input, keep on doing what your doing . I'm gonna leave you with this, I'm a Huge SlipKnoT fan and to me this song seemed like a compilation of all 6 of their albums
You guys gotta hear "All Out Life". The chorus has such a good message. Also, you mentioned metal sounding kind of classical like there's a conductor, well interestingly enough, studies show metal and classical are very similar and people have very similar reactions in the brain to them. It's not just about the sound, but the silence too.
Loving the Slipknot, would love for you both to hear Sulfur, probably my favorite from them👍
Lex must be super fun to chill with
Collegiate. Definitely the first word that comes to mind when I hear Slipknot.
that wailing sound at the end told me to play high volume humpback sounds over the whole track. sounds of doom sounds of god.
1:45 Fuck Yeah 🤘
I agree with you all. Surfacing is a must. For sure.
Love the fact Cory is throwing punches at people who basically live off social media and shut out what they don't want to hear. Then making the title from a string of killings that happened I believe in the 70s gotta love Cory Taylor
Lol. I freakn love you guys. I purposely waited to watch this one with you two. It was awesome.

Chapeltown is a place in the uk. Cory said it’s got inspiration from the chapel town ripper

If you haven't heard All out life, it's good. Asking for Rob Scallions "banjo cover" of Psychosocial, Leo Moracchioli's metal cover of Sultans of swing and Shadows Falls cover of Welcome to the Machine again. Also, 8bit Slipknot is pretty badass for those of us who remembers the NES days.

Song about the notorious Yorkshire ripper and how the media coverage at the time incorrectly reported about it . He lived not far from where I was born.
Another good slipknot song is “My Plague”

I would love to see you guys react to No life from their first album, I honestly think it would be an interesting reaction. Great reaction by the way I love y’all’s energy and commentary on the music.
Love the Slipknot reactions. You two should check out Ghost. Dance Macabre and Cirice are a couple good ones to start with.
This song is about a serial killer. Corey discusses its meaning. U need to check it out
Look up the chapeltown murders. Then you'll catch it lol.
Man y'all still haven't done surfacing? Its the fan favorite between fans and the band!
This is commentary about social media:)
To me.... Slipknot is letting us know what's going on behind the scenes in a sense. When you sign with a record you're a puppet. Not all puppets need masters nor do they always agree. Kinda like reading in between the lines but they're saying it out loud. I know I probably don't make much sense it's just very hard to explain. Hopefully someone can follow what I'm saying and help clarify haha

Kinda. Once you sell your soul to the devil its done there's no going back. Artists, people are usually led to believe one thing when it's actually another. Once the person arrives at the point they realized they were misled some continue with the game and don't say a word. True people speak up once they see the bullshit.
Nice reaction. Just discovered your channel. I recommend corey Taylor's cover of rainbow in the dark.
You have to check out The Dying Song. It's my favorite so far!
Why haven't you guys gone to a Slipknot concert yet?! I took my wife for the first time and she had a blast!
If you guys are open to music from all around the world, i suggest you react to "Kino - Kukushka" Its a song by a Russian band whose lead singer is considered a legend in Russia. There are English lyric translations on YT, but you dont necessarily have to read the lyrics, since many songs of them dont need you to understand the lyrics to get the vibe across. I love the band and im not even from Russia and i often dont understand what theyre singing about, but their music has a certain vibe to it, that i cant find in other artists. This also goes to everybody reading this comment. You should check out KINO and theyre songs... and please let me know what you think of them.
Sure hope you sometime react to Megadeth's live performance of 'She Wolf' from the Rude Awakening show. Awesome!
