Very interesting thorough test. It really shows the difference between a good AWD and an entry level AWD. I recently had to get rid of my good ol' subaru justy g3x, which had permanent AWD, and I'm very interested in the ignis 4x4. Not that I have to drive in mud (maybe a muddy road from time to time), but I live in a snowy mountain and 4x4 is essential for me. Especially during the winter where our roads are icy and most often covered with a layer of snow. And of course, our roads are steep. Thanks to your video, I'm now very attentive to that part too. And maybe the ignis 4x4 isn't enough for my mountain, after all.

Thanks! Subaru Justy G3X is actually a Suzuki Ignis (previous gen.). New Ignis has the same awd system as previous one, based on viscous coupling but it uses different type of oil which can deal with higher working temperature. Additionally now it has two-step traction control system.

@@4x4.tests.on.rollers This news is most reassuring. Thank you very much. As long as the Ignis 4x4 2020 can perform similarly to the Justy G3X on snow, it is more than enough for me. I love Suzuki's and have the Vitara Allgrip, sold my 2006 4grip ignis recently, looked for a replacement as a second car, but the Jimny is just too small and expensive and the new ignis is also too small in comparison to my old ignis, also quiet pricey for what you get. I think the problem is that the brakes are independent on the front wheels but not on the back. If the left front is slipping, the car can apply the brake on that wheel to direct power to the front right. The rear wheels can't do this, so if one wheel slips all the power at the rear will go to it.

Turns out All Grip Pro don’t work like I thought... when u engage 4wd in new jimny, it locks the rear diff using air locking hubs... effectively making jimny’s 4wd dangerous on slippery surfaces, because locked rear diff will cause your back end to loose grip and slip while turning.
