    My wife still drives the facelift 4x4 model for that. It's called a Carib. Toyota ran out of room on the old Japanese square number plate to write Caribou so they just chopped two letters off the end and called it a Carib.

    Not if the rear brakes also engages enough when you press it. If the foot brake only applied the front brakes, or very little rear, it would have worked.

    A gdy toyota miała rolki po prawej to spróbować zaciągnąć ręczny i delikatnie nożnym? Wtedy trochę Nm poszło by na przednie lewe koło. A druga sprawa. Szacunek za auto (bo widać że trzymane z pasji) i za felgi misie bo to odważny wzór.

    Yes you can. Many people here in Aus swap in a 7AFE motor out of later model corollas to get a bit more torque. It's pretty much a straight swap, same bell housing and minimal block shaving to clear the extra bulk of the transfer case on the 4WD gearbox, the locker system is contained in the gearbox and wired separately to the switch in the dash.

    Only center diff lock? What if the drivetrain were supplemented with F/R locking diffs or LSDs?

  • @pianoman3214

    @pianoman3214

    That's how they come from the factory. An aftermarket rear LSD is available but no one has implemented a locking/LSD solution to the front as far as i know.

  • @vampyrelycan99

    @vampyrelycan99

    @@pianoman3214 Back in those days center diff lock on a passenger wagon was already a big deal. A rear LSD (with the correct drive ratio) would definitely help overall handling given the nature of this vehicle. AFAIK front LSDs are rare in passenger 4WD chassis due to complications in handling (steering etc.) and is thus mostly reserved for speciality vehicle models (eg. WRX STi)......

    @@jonathanwright5550 These are "Full-Time 4WD", the centre locker grants you the exact same driveline behaviour as you'd get with any other factory 4WD that lacks front or rear lockers. They are indeed AWD with the locker disabled, no locking hubs in the front like most 4WDs. Also definitely Toyotas, identical front end to the same period corollas and they share the random weirdly shaped rear side windows that Toyota insisted on putting on every one of their wagon designs in the 80's & 90's. You can see the same design language on the Tercel and Hilux Surf to name a couple, all have rear side windows that don't share the same shape and size as the door windows for no apparent reason.

  • @billder7304

    @billder7304

    Also, to answer this question; there were some of these delivered in Japan with a factory rear LSD but examples of this are incredibly rare. As far as I've seen with aftermarket options, I've heard that some rear electronic diff lockers to suit a Toyota Rav4 will fit the diff, and I've read somewhere that an LSD from an AE86 corolla may fit, though never seen or heard anything on that front. Front lockers are probably out of the question without extensive knowledge and modification to the transfer case as the front diff is housed within the gearbox like a typical FWD car.

    Ciekawy japoński pocisk , w terenie napewno sobię radzi . Testy na rolkach są fajne ale nie mają odniesienia do prawdziwych warunków . Mam 5 aut z napędem na cztery koła jest haldex w Skodzie , wisko w xc70 ,subaraki legacy z 91 legacy 99 jest też Mitsubishi z difflockiem i powiem tak co z tego że z rolek z testów haldex zjeżdża jak zwykła trawiasta górka + przyczepka i już to ma problem miesza cuduje....
