I make my own darts out of stock steel rods an angle grinder and duct tape vanes, or gutted paracord flu flu fletching. They work great but like you said they do fly differently than steel shot and need practice. But the penetration is wild and I think it's my preferred ammo type at the end of the day!

Your darts look unique to most I've seen. How are you making them?

I was shooting this afternoon and was a bit frustrated at my accuracy. However, after watching your vid I went back out and was smokin' the targets at 20m! Thanks for the inspiration Chris - watching guys like you, ATO and Gamekeeper John always make me want to improve :)

I like the look of the darts I can't wait to get some and try them out I'm a big fan of archery and it turns your slingshot into a mini bow. It Will never replace steel or lead shot but a great addition to the selection of projectiles.

Darts are the equivalent of AP rounds.

We can't legally hunt with slingshots/catapults in OHIO-USA, however we can target shoot all day long. Used to have and make my own slingshots when I was a kid in the 60's. You have renewed my interest in the hobby since I retired. Thanks for all of the fantastic videos you have put on your channel. They are well planned and edited. You pick interesting topics to keep all of our interest peeked and waiting for new projects to see also. Keep up the fantastic job! BTW.... I plan on shooting 10mm steel balls for my ammo.

Hi Chris! I want to build myself a catapult with clips. It's a problem if I place the bolt and washer facing me and the rivet nut on the side with the clips? It affects the strength? Cheers mate!

After a couple of hand hits with a steel ball I wouldn't be confident to use the darts without a glove but love to see them being used accurately in you video 🎯👍

How long did you practice to get this good

Darts are horrifying to use but deal damage managed to put a hole in both sides of my shed after missing with some double bands and a wooden rambone style, bearings are fun for plinking never used them for hunting but I would imagine they are accurate but less likely to be lethal.

I shoot darts most of the time. I don't take them out on a mooch because of the legal situation (UK), but at home I usually reach for the darts. I wear the Snipersling Dragonscale glove and can recommend it, I've chrono'd the darts at 182 fps (7 ftlbs) when using the supplied Snipersling black bands. At that speed with the pointed tips you could definitely hunt in countries where that is allowed. The darts are repairable too, I've replaced a couple of fletchings on a couple of darts and damaged knob on another by turning off the old knob, and crimping on a new one using a 9t hydraulic crimping tool.

I like the darts.... fun to mix it up a bit. But like you said .... if you could only have one, definitely steel/ lead balls . 😎

Get a kevlar hand gard John. I shot mine against a stump to test it and it does work.

I've shot these darts with HTS Hathcoch target sniper frame. Only frame I haven't had one fork hit even with the bad releases. Even though I have wide and high frame I'm still afraid of RTS through my cheek. 🥺 I think the safest possible setup to shoot darts could be wide and high ttf frame. With ttf rubber and pouch (string) will smack against the fork and opens more clearly. I don't know if it's even possible to get rts with ttf?

I've shot thousands of balls of different sizes and never once had an RTS shot. The way the darts work, it seems even less likely. How do they happen?

I don't think either is better or worse, they're different kinds of ammo.

When I get my own place, I'm moving somewhere that I can get slingshots shipped to me

imagine hunting small game with these.. youd get liek 8 chances lol. they are almost silent.

It's funny how hard balloons are to hit if the wind is blowing them around a little. Me and a friend were shooting them here once ( big balloons) and he hit one with 1/2 inch ball and it didn't bust it lol! Should have saw the look on his face!

Yeah cris I bought some the 1st time u and Paul were shooting them and also Paul made his own types but were little slow because of the material was a little 2 thick which reduces drag I done alright with them those orange fluorescent targets got couple on tgt BUT FIND THEY GROUP WELL I've kept mine 4 show in my cabinet on display and 4 the price of 5 darts ide rather buy 1000 pieces of steel 10mls I 👌 if I had enough to shoot I would hunt on my uncle's plot oh! And the spare £cash to buy them there good but steelys all the way bud

it doesnt really take much pexperience at all to shoot darts people think they need more experience but dont. just wear a hand guard if you're scared at first.

Use safety glasses. A rubber end hitting your eye will blind you in that eye.

Why no hand guard? Getting one of those darts in the back of you hand would be a real bad way to end the day. Never shot something like this, it looks super fun. What a great self defense option (Unless it's already illegal 🤔) for those who cant carry do to local restrictions. Those darts are legit terrifying.

I've had to many hand hits with steel shot and once when I was a wee lad shot a BBQ skewer from my catapult and got it stuck in my hand to then go on and have a panick attack lol, play silly games you win silly prizes I guess
