Thanks for this great explanation! You guys are obviously doing something right because you have a poo ton of babies. If anyone doubts you they are obviously nuts. Your vids are more than proof enough that you have figured out what these animals actually need to thrive. It would be like telling the sun he don't know how to shine. I would tell these people to sit down and watch a good 6 to 10 of your vids and then comment on how "horrible" you're treating them. I really don't think they could. 🕷❤️

The complainers here need to watch some of the videos of other spider keepers on UTube and watch how they treat their spiders and the egg sacs and the babies. Not very pleasant to watch. Dave’s Little Beasties is the best so far. Very humanitarian and knowledgeable of his hobby and his critters. Just Saying!

It's wonderful to hear you speak about spiders dear Dave and the keeping of them from eggs with legs throughout their growing up process in the hobby ( so enjoyable and also so sensible )! You have the best natural approach to it all and don't complicate things in an unnecessary way and you have the spiders well-being in mind all the time but also our Sweet Camera Lady by your side to help! Thank you both for doing what you do and teaching people that spiders are a good little beasties to have around not only in the hobby of course but also in nature and sometimes in our houses too!

When I explain that some folks understand /idea of an arboreal enclosure is screwy it falls on deaf ears. They look at an enclosure without knowing the size compared to the animal and because the height dosnt exceed the length “ it’s not arboreal.”

Great video footage and excellent reasoning behind your decisions Dave - you’re also not afraid to say “We simply don’t know” as well, rather than just guessing and not disclosing that fact. I’ve heard other opinions on all subjects, but mostly that’s all you get - an opinion, citing no source or basis for it, so that just makes things too subjective and personal for me; having a background in science I need to know the reasoning and logic behind a decision; maybe it’s just me, but doing something and not having an explanation as to *why* gives me no confidence in the reasoning behind it. Thank you. ❤❤👍😉

Being a long time follower you have explained this before and it makes perfect sense to me.. keep the calories in the spider for health and growth instead of being burned up wandering around a big enclosure.... You need to show another vid with our beloved camera lady chasing them slings and putting them in pots.. it has been a long time since we have seen her counting or capturing these little spider lings..

Spiders, unlike most creatures, prefer small cramped spaces. Which is why I have always found that they don't thrive as well in big enclosurs, as they would in something that makes them feel more cramped and secure.

I kind of follow your logic in a sense. My Brachypelmas/Grammostola/Tliltocatl are all in Medium-sized Kritter Keepers (the equivalent of a 2.5 Gal Glass tank) instead of the typical Large ones (5 Gal). Even at 5-6+" DLS, they have more than enough room to roam about. The smaller size also makes predator/prey interaction quicker. I also keep it simple, several inches of sub, a hide and a water dish. Boom ! Done. Stay safe and thanks for sharing :)

They are coming on well. I had a right giggle at your “Kojak” comment 😂 I bet Camera Lady enjoys separating the slings into their own wee abodes! I’m sure that people who buy Slings or adolescent Tarantulas or Spiders from You, do know that they’re getting A1 conditioned arachnids. Thanks for sharing this information for those that may be just starting out, or even for the old hands 😂 Take care and stay safe 💙💕🕷️😘xxx

For me I put my C.Versicolor sling a container similar in size to that larger one shown and kinda regretted it at first but now it's settled down and made a lovely home so I'm happy with now. I completely understand why breeders would keep them in smaller enclosures for longer due to space constraints and don't see an issue with it. Awesome video Dave very informative :) I'm following all your advice for my 2 tarantula's and so far, everything's going well only difference is I don't have bio active as I'm not a big fan of them although I am thinking of making a bio activate enclosure but not with a tarantula lol

Nice. I have always seperated them when they where eggs with legs or nymphs and let they go from that. I founded that to be the easiest. Sometines if ibwas off timing and found that they moulted out into slings in the eggsack, it was much more troubeling to seperate them. Sometimes with some speicies like H villosella i let them hatch into females tank, but that was because i held them in communal setting. Once or twice, if i had a speicies that produced large clutch (forgive me) i kept them together and let them eat each other to decrease the number

So what I learned basically that the young spiders don't need a Web Mat to molt.

They will still produce a web matt for moulting 👍

I like the way how you keep things real, i think a lot of the channels can be a real pain in the ass with all the flashy scary making look at me i'm a spider keeper crap. I have been watching a lot of your video's and they never disappoint, keep it up Dave! (and camera lady of course!) Cheers from the Netherlands.

Love watching your videos and I've based alot of my Tarantula care on your videos from going out with a trusty carrier bag into the local woods for cork bark, moss and other bits and bobs,, and on this video the "Kojack spider" as soon as you said this it reminded me of my grandad and he used to say things like this,, sorry to make you feel old by saying that,, keep up the amazing work and it's always nice to see a Yorkshire lad doing this and representing on KZread,, great job camera lady,, I wish my wife was more hands on haha

This is handy to know for everyone years ago when i was last in the hobby it was a mad subject with different views people say 3x leg span etc.. but I'm actually more willing this time around to keep my slings in vials to grow them on steadily and size up as and when they need it I'm rehousing some back into vials today as the 520 pots are just too too big for them to be in

Very interesting to see the different phases spiders transform through. I didn't even know spiders went through molts until I found this channel. Fascinating creatures 🙂

Morning guys - I’m getting distortion on the audio Dave, happened on the last vid too - just letting you know in case it’s affecting others; I’m not getting anywhere else though?? I’ll return to watch this later - the youngest has just woken up 😢 7 kids, what was I thinking….. reckon I know what’s causing it now though. ❤❤
