Lyrics:
I love to have a beer with Duncan
I love to have a beer with Dunc
We drink in moderation
And we never ever ever get rollin' drunk
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate, yeah
I love to have a beer with Colin
I love to have a beer with Col
We drink in moderation
And it doesn't really matter if he brings his doll
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Colin
'Cause Colin's me mate, mm-mm-mm
I love to have a beer with Kevin
Oh I love to have a beer with Kev
We drink in moderation
And he drives me home in his big old Chev
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Kevin
'Cause Kevin's me mate
I love to have a beer with Patrick
I love to have a beer with Pat
We drink in moderation
And it wouldn't really matter if the beer was flat
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Patrick
'Cause Patrick's me mate - Change key
I love to have a beer with Robert
I love to have a beer with Bob
We drink in moderation
Just one more and back on the job
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Robert
'Cause Robert's me mate
I love to have a beer with Duncan
Oh I love to have a beer with Dunc
We drink in moderation
And we never ever ever get rollin' drunk
We drink at the Town and Country
Where the atmosphere is great
I love to have a beer with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate
I love to have a beer with Duncan
'Cause Duncan's me mate
Slim Dusty, AO MBE (born David Gordon Kirkpatrick; 13 June 1927 - 19 September 2003) was an Australian country music singer-songwriter, guitarist and producer. He was an Australian cultural icon and one of the country's most awarded stars, with a career spanning nearly seven decades and numerous recordings. He was known to record songs in the legacy of Australia, particularly of bush life and renowned Australian bush poets Henry Lawson and Banjo Paterson that represented the lifestyle. The music genre was coined the "bush ballad", a style first made popular by Buddy Williams, the first artist to perform the genre in Australia, and also for his many trucking songs. Dusty was the first Australian to have a No. 1 international hit song, with a version of Gordon Parsons' "A Pub with No Beer". He received an unequalled 37 Golden Guitar and two Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) awards and was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame and the Country Music Roll of Renown.

I heard this song when I was stationed in South Korea in 1996. There was a television in the NCO club that sometimes showed Australian country music videos. I still sing it almost every time I drink a beer even though I haven't heard it in 21 years. Thank you Mr. Dusty for a song I'll carry around until the day I die. God rest his soul.

*I am a Polish-Canadian .... and I love this Australian song, since I first heard it from the movie "On the beach" (1959) starring with: Ava Gardner, Gregory Peck & Fred Astaire.* ~ It is kinda climate of peace and harmony in this nice and natural melody of this song ~ *Go Aussies, go !!!!* :o))
Hearing my name Robert and the soothing country song is just great
Slim Dusty has great songs
From an instrumental point of view, I have always had an appreciation for the way of which Slim decided to 'Change Key' on his guitar just to add another simple but very professional element to the song itself. He makes it all sound so effortless as I'm sure you will agree!
Slim Dusty a true Aussie legend.
I'm in my mid 20s and I've loved this song ever since I first heard it on some radio station playing old songs.
This brought back my childhood. My grandpa used to play a whole lot of songs while we were in his car, but this one was by far my favourite.

Love this song. RIP Slim from America.
My fathers name was kevin and his best mate was col. How appropriate. They have gone to heaven to have a beer with slim.
My Brother and I are 3 years apart, and grew up listening to this on our CD player while we fell asleep. We had always thought that our Dad knew Slim, and told him to put our names in the song; because our names aren’t super common going by the amount of people that I have met. My name is Robert, and my brothers name is Colin 😁. This song is still one of my favourites!
The ultimate Aussie drinking song.
RIP slim 16 years today we lost a legend rip old slim
I love this song so much. Mum and Dad had, ( I still have the 45). They got it when it came out. Dad was named Robert, but called Bob and 2 of Mum's brothers were Pat and Kevin, who I was close to. Great memories of playing this during family gatherings. Always a laugh. Times to remember. Would go back in a heart beat.
Wonderful Song One Of Slim's Very very best the old bloke Kevin at 1.03 looks exactly like a Kevin I used to Drink with in the late 1990s and Early 2000s! Also used to drink with a bloke called Bob too in A Pub In Port Melbourne! Love That Line "Just One More Then Back On The Job"!😀🤠🎙️🎸🎶🎵🎼🍺🍻🏚️🇦🇺
Kicking back here on the big beach at Gulf Shores. Listening to Slim. Several people have stopped by to ask who I'm listening to. I tell em and they tell others, Slims name will never fade. Well I'm off to the FloraBama to meet me mates and knock down a few sudsers. Keep it bonzer Aussies, God loves ya, Bama Boozin Bob does too.
I played this song at my dad's funeral, when the song started quite a few people said YEAH! The song described my dad perfectly.george Balfour stark 16/03/33-23/11/2007.still miss ya old mate!
