    12280 can be legal I'm not sure moving the 5th wheel first is the right choice here. Once you put more weight on your drives it can buck your front end up. Plus you will burn off fuel weight. Most 14ply steer tires are rated for 6150 each.

  • @luizcampagnolo1201

    Forget about the 5th wheel , just move the tandems on the trailer , you guys make the life complicated and u can drive the way it is on the steer because you will lose fuel

    Right. I'd get that trailer set first and it just may take care of the steer issues. If it doesn't.. then you can decide if you want to mess with 280#. They wont bat an eye at you for that.

    So what should you do? Leave and once you are about to enter to your destination state just adjust the weight?

  • @Bendigo1

    @Bendigo1

    You should ask them to adjust the weight to work with the state you are going to/through that has the strict restrictions.

  • @Bendigo1

    @@kingsleysarfo. 40 FEET or less, yes. But you have to make sure it is not overweight if it is closer. 40ft max is a better way to put it. And like I said before, 6th hole is not always 40ft so make sure to check. On the trailers i pull it is th 7th hole and I have seen some that have it as the 4th hole or 9th hole.

  • @Bendigo1

    @Bendigo1

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@TapDancingKneeeGrow It depends on the trailer but that sounds a bit off. You use the front pins as point of reference not the rear pins. The 40ft is from kingpin to rear axle, so if the kingpin is the standard 36inch setback. The rear axle should be about 10ft from the back of the trailer on a 53ft trailer.

    If you set it up right the first time and haul the same setup all the time, you shouldn't ever need to slide the 5th wheel.
