I've worked in different cabinet shops on and off for the last 20 plus years and I have to admit I have never used a slider other than to maybe straighten line a live edge so I could rip it down on the table saw. the one shop I worked in that actually had one switched over to using a production CNC so the slider just collected dust. I wish I had known how handy these saws are. I'm finally able to set up my own shop and I found a guy who was selling his Felder K 700 slider. It was a little scary spending that much money on one piece of equipment. after watching your videos, I am glad I pulled the trigger on it. It will definitely speed up the sheet goods breakdown and it looks like it will be very handy for a lot of cuts that I would normally have to move over to the miter saw for.

Yeah…good points. Sliders aren’t for everyone but for those that use one…superb! I can’t imagine not having one. Anyway, thanks for watching the video

Great information, Ramon. I can't imagine using my K3 without your ZCI. It fits perfectly and even after hundreds of cuts, it still looks brand new. Thanks also for the shout-out on my Fritz and Franz jig. I'm glad that it continues to work well for you.

I don't use a full length rip fence much and have put a short (300mm) length of fence on the rip head as a measured bump stop. The rip fence is fitted with a DRO and not having the full length means I am not always walking around it. The combination of an F&F jig, DRO and short fence make a very nice combination.

Great video! I have a felder 700s coming in December. 30 years in cabinets and this will be my first slider. Im doing away with my upright panel saw and loving the fact that my 700s will handle 4x8 melamine with truer squarer cuts. Also the scoring blade eliminating the chipping my panel and table saw were doing. Sliders seem to be so much more versatile. Subscribed !

Ramon, please, PLEASE start making zero clearance inserts for the K700S model! The 700 is by far the largest selling Felder slider on the market and if you design for it, you will most certainly find a huge market opening up. Thanks for the video.

Do you mean at the beginning of the video? That’s probably a good rule of thumb in general. But experience shows how using pressure at key points whilst cutting makes this a safe operation. Relatively. All machines impose some danger. Thanks

Hey Ramon. Your Channel is hands down my new favorite Channel on youtube. I am in awe with all your knowledge! I was wondering if you could do a video on setting up a sliding table saw, also getting the blade parallel to the miter slot (I do know that the felder machines are set up flawlessly and tested before they leave the factory) but I have another brand of sliding table saw, and I’m having issues getting it to be at 100%, I got around 1 mm drift front to back of the slider, and I can’t seem to correct it. Maybe you have some tips on setting up a saw like this. Loving the content, hope you see this

Hey Joe…thanks a ton for the good words! I’ve set up a couple of sliders (decades ago) and I remember fussing (and cussing😆) with the adjustment for hours! But, I didn’t use a dial indicator…thinking back…I feel silly. I did finally get them both set up extremely accurate. Now, my buddy David Bedrosian (on Instagram) has some excellent tutorials for setting up a slider. He even has a hashtag #bedrosianslidingtablesaw that has them all consolidated. You can find him on IG @bedrosianwoodworks I would like to do a tutorial on slider adjustments one day…but his are very good and I have little time. I hope this helps and thanks again 🙏🏼

Hello Pablo. Do you mean laying the fence down to utilize a short height fence? I do use that on occasion. It is a safe alternative. Much thanks.

Hi Ramon. Great videos and info, just found your channel and subscribed. I have just taken delivery of my K3 and A3 last week, looking forward to using them. Do you have the felder dado stack for your machine. If so can you do a video of setting them up and using them, showing various cut widths. My dado set came with 3 groove cutters and just want to make sure I am setting them up correctly.

Great videos. I’ve been having much difficulty pulling the trigger on a slider, up until yesterday that is. I finally have one, sitting in my trailer waiting. But like you I have a massive 9.5x7.5 outfeed for my cabinet saw and other things. I’ve been trying to figure out how to make the slider work without taking all my table space away as it’s my assembly table as well. There just isn’t a really easy solution. I want to keep the cabinet saw for dados, as I always do them, but I just don’t think it will be practical. Is your table top one piece or is it connected in middle to make full size? I see a seam it looks like. Maybe it’s just the laminate seamed. Also what is the long rectangle shape in top near the cabinet saw?

Hello David I can send you photos if you want to share your email or I’m on IG…I could DM them to you. My small slider (Hammer K3) and my 10” table saw do share a 5’ wide x 8’ long table. It’s built in two pieces, and connected to the saws. The two sections created a space in the middle…so I created a box and added a lid. I keep wrenches, scoring blade and other table saw related items in there. Thanks

@@tundrawhisperer4821 that’s cool. Glad to hear. I think I’ve seen your comments all over the sliding table saw videos. I guess when you were looking to get one, you were asking questions. Glad to hear you like it. I’m sure I’ll love it too but as you can see from my videos, my assembly table is very big and I’ll be missing a good portion of it with the slider. We’ll see.

Hey Ramon, Im seriously looking and getting a K3 like yours and have a couple of questions. 1) do you have your fence set dead nuts parallel to the blade or is it toed out slightly. I saw another maker who had his slider toed out a couple of thousanths, but I would think the fence would need to be toed the opposite way, which could be a problem when ripping with the slider and the rip fence together. If it is dead nuts, do you not have any burning? 2) i also saw another vid where someone set his slider to be even with the cast iron top. He did that so that when ripping using the fence, the left aide of the board wouldn't be elevated giving an unsquare cut. Do you just use your 10" for most parallel ripping to avoid an out of square edge or do you jusr not worry about it. Sorry if you covered any of that somewhere and i missed it. Love your channel! You give me a lot of inspiration!

Thanks for watching the video and great questions. 1) I like my fence dead parallel on both my table saws. If the fence is toed out, when I’m cutting pieces to length using the slider with the rip fence pulled back…if the widths are different, you’ll get different sized cuts. A narrow piece registers tight…while a wider piece contacts the rip fence further back first. I get it, it’s a safety thing. But with a properly set up riving knife…I have zero issues and no burning. It just makes sense to me for accuracy. 2) I like the slider carriage to be slightly higher as set at factory. I am aware of the problem, but in general, these cuts aren’t the final process. I can joint by machine to clean that discrepancy or I use my 10” table saw to make narrow cuts. Sheet goods slide across the transition much easier as set. I don’t think it’s a problem with rips or anything wider than say, 4 or 5 inches. (100+ mm ) I see it like this; if my material is 3/4” (19mm) thick, and my rips are that narrow as well, then the edge would/could be out of square by that offset. Couple thou? As the rips get wider, that out of squareness becomes less of course. Hope that helps

The space that my slider is in, is much smaller than yours! It’s the same length at 33’ but only 17’wide. I have a cabinet saw at the opposite corner to the slider. I plan on doing a YT shop tour soon. It’s tight, but for that I do it works. Thanks

I have a Minimax cu300 smart with the 8.5 foot slider. At two different times it was used in a 2 car garage and it worked beautifully in that space. I think it was only 22’ long x24’ wide. Once you go slider, you can’t go back. Lol

Can your insets be used with the bigger blade on the Hammer K3?

Absolutely. I use a larger blade when ripping lumber. Of course, the scoring blade needs to be removed. If Hammer mentioned this…I missed it. I even purchased quality 12” blades for cutting sheet goods…too bad I can’t use em with the scoring blade.
