I don't understand how this is more efficient than keeping the bits in their original packaging.
sweet build something you can do to clamp up small stuff if you dont have small clamps handy. take scrap pvc pipe ( 1" dia. ) works good but bigger works also. first cut a slit along the length of your scrap peace, now cut the pipe into 1" or 2" long peaces, now you will need to add some handles to each new clamp. I use popsicle sticks. First I make a set of holes about as wide as the sticks, these should be on eather side of top center just a bit less than side to side. ( looking at the pvc pipe on its end. think of it as a round clock face, mark the places for these holes at 10 & 2. then move the marks around to the sides of the pipe peace ) Center these marks across to the center of those edges ( or as with my 1" example they will be at 1/2" ) Use these marks to make the holes for the 2 popsicle sticks. ounce you jave the holes you can insert the sticks untill they touch. now using the sticks like clamp handles squeez to open your new micro clamp. I make these up from all my small pvc cut off scraps and store them strung on a peace of rope. I have marked and drilled these but not cut them to length untill I needed them, this allows you to store them with the sticks inside and handy till you need them .Thans again for the great bit storage idea as I just got my new shop size base tool box I will include 1 of these in a drawer. Thanks again.
Well, I think Jay is right about the position of the arm and forearm in relation to the drill table, keep the arm and arm before 90 ° in my case is the best position, avoid pain and fatigue, I really liked your ideas about organization and the drawers as well. thank you will see much Sandra Powell
Great solution for organizing those bits Sandra!

Thank you for your time in making this video. I probably would have hot glued a sacrificial backer board for the peg board to reduce tear out.
Looks like very tedious work. Excellent job. I really like it. Good idea and thanks for sharing.
Very handy. I can see how it was more work using the pegboard in the end.
Sandra, Love your channel. I'm learning a lot of tips on how to organize my shop. You also have a funny sense of humor! By the time your done revamping and already beautifully done shop, I know I'm going to want to. I can see it already, esp. with the bit storage. Glad I found your channel.~Dolly
Great solution for a bit of metastasizing problem. I think I am going to use ticker boards so one board would be enough, and the holes might be a job for the CNC. Thanks for the idea.

+John Zhu I think those are 2 very smart modifications to be made. If I had a CNC machine my shoulder would thank me. LOL
This video is great and it gave me the idea to use a 2x4 with holes drilled in it as a driver bit/drill bit/screwdriver/other things that can be put in holes holder
Good one!
That is a great idea, thanks for sharing. Also great video.
Very nice, Sandra.
Great job Sandra, like the idea and might borrow it since I have some scrap peg board laying around.

+Larry527az I have about 10 sheets of it on my walls that I'm taking down so I'm trying to come up with lots of ways to re-use it. sigh
nice idea keeps them all in one place and the driver under the tray too.....
Great idea. I too have a ton of those small bits.
a quick note on my clamps I was telling you about before. you can make these clamps stronger or not by using thick or thin walled pvc, and by how long you cut them ( 1" is pretty easy for anyone to use but if you make them 2" or wider they can get really strong and you may want to use 4 or more sticks to be sure the sticks don't break. I have some that I have added multiple haddles to so I get very strong clampping power. Since I have found how to make these I dont buy metal store bought ones as much. ( If you want these to be even better and more permanent. you can buy a length of metal bar from store that you can use in place of the sticks and they will be long lastting and cheaper than the store bought ones )
love your project
Cute T-Shirt! I love Mickey!
Now I have a use for that 8x4 pegboard. Gonna sort through my dad's 40 years of driver/drill bits. He has a couple hundred.

+Adam R Are they all rolling around loose in your "junk drawer" like mine were? I have another use for that pegboard to help you get those bits organized. Stay tuned! :-D

Sandra Powell aka {Sawdust Girl} no, they're in a dozen different boxes stashed around the garage. I never know what box has a spider or more bits.

+Adam R lol I would get rid of all those spider boxes and get new bits!
Not gonna lie, I gave up organizing those bits just watching you measure the first one. 😄 Its definitely better than checking 4 different places for that one bit, though. Great video!
Good job Sandra. Subscribed.
Nice job Sandra. Cool shirt!

Brilliant!
nice idea! question, what make/model respirator are you using?
Great idea. what size drill bit did you use?
Hi I just stumbled upon your videos and plan on watching all of them. I wanted to mention I have been struggling with this exact issue. I have many bits, just like you but some of mine are longer. I will have to make a modification for the longer ones. I tried drilling holes in a 2x4, Styrofoam, some other packing foam and nothing compares to what you did!!! Awesome! I do not have a drill press, but I have been thinking of getting one, I see it used so often in other videos...OK so the question? What size did you drill the holes?
Nice upgrade of space and organization but you got to get that drill press down, you made my arms hurt watching you reach up to drill lol, Nice Job Sandra

+Sterling Davis Thanks! I have used it in that location a few times because it's there and I need it and I haven't taken the time to build a portable stand for it... It's on the floor now so that's even worse! LOL All in due time with the workshop overhaul. I won't stop until everything is convenient to use and easy to find.

well, in the floor you could sit Indian style hehe
Congratulations pretty woman!!!
Do you think bracing would make it better (The holder area) or would the tray be better made out of a 3/4" piece of Pine with a melamine back?
Good idea. Thanks
I had a bit of a laugh when your arm got tired at the drill press. But that was quite a bit of holes. And the clamping options you chose displayed a bit of creativity.

I do have a suggestion. Try taking some nail polish and color code your bits. Great video thank you for posting!

sweet.
good idea.. you know those bits are going to get out of order within the next 72 hours lol at least in my shop they would..;) they would stay organized for about a day or two then I would just say screw it take a new bit and put the bit I was using back in the slot that I took the bit from if that makes any sense have a good one

+Sandra Powell aka {Sawdust Girl} wow!thts awsome!!i give u alot of credit. I made something similar but just on a solid block of 2 inch oak and it holds 25 bits I had them organized for about 3 days and now its just chaos lol so kudos to you for staying organized good stuff :-)
Nice! - did you label all the bit locations so you can put them back where they go? ;-)
