This is my motor home. Darren is exactly who you see on camera. He walked me through the entire diagnostic process and taught me how to manually move the slide in and out should I ever need to. It has been a few months now , and I’m on a very long trip. The slide continues to work perfectly. I truly appreciate Darren’s knowledge and the respectful way he walked me through the process. MyRVWorks is my number one source of information for everything RV. Thanks again Darren!

This is the 1st time I have seen how the gear box is replaced and great tip on not turning the gears by hand and messing up the timing. Thanks Darren

I really enjoy your videos. I was able to fix my Atwood fridge, from your website and your references. You made it easy for me to understand. I’m a hands on learner, and you showing us the parts and how you do it, makes it easy to follow. I think it’s great your are showing Dakota how to do this craft. There are millions of RVs, in the US. He can build a great business, like you did. Again, we appreciate all you teach us.

I just traded my fifth wheel with three slides for an Airstream with no slides. Never had a slide problem but every time I opened or closed the slides I was a little worried about possible problems. I enjoy your content.

Hi again Darren. Our 2009 Winnebago View has a full length slide out (13') that stopped sliding in or out, ran by power gear motors and gear teeth just like the one in your video today. I've had to manually open and retract, which is easy for the person up front (nearest driver) but very difficult to get to and move in the back. I'll drive to you in Wa. if you'll set up an appt. sometime this summer? We live in Boise. I currently have a sub compact torque wrench on the way hoping It fits inside the small area that allows for manual in/out function. Power goes to both motors, but they make no sound, nor does the pressing of the in/out panel buttons. We are in desperate need of Darren Koepp's magic work. Sincerely, Rob & April

BTW the first thing in the gear drive installation manual and in the owner's manual is never lubricate the gear rail or the gear pack teeth. They say if you must lubricate something, lubricate the axle that goes through the gear pack, but not the gears. Camping world had repaired this twice before and smeared massive quantities of gear grease on the gear ram which resulted in the teeth jumping from tooth to tooth resulting in misalignment.

Hi Darren, Great video very thorough in steps to take to fix. I did have question about the motor replacement. How did you remove the pin from the old motor and put it on the new motor? I'm in a situation where my old motor is working fine, but the pin that goes into the collette of the gear pack has sheared off. I'm having trouble both getting the remnants of the pin out of the shaft removed, as well as sourcing a new pin. I've googled anything and everything I can. I'd love to find the pin to fix this, without having to buy an entire motor for just the pin. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

I have a power gear slide in my 06 Bounder and when the slide goes all the way out the last few seconds of coming out or the first few seconds of coming in you hear a horrible ratcheting sound, when my batteries were going bad the motor didn’t have enough power to do it, but the motor has been replaced and I’m thinking it’s a cheap motor/gear box. I wish I could get one with metal gears and beef it up… I’ve been under it when it happens the exposed gears are all fine so it must be in the gear box on the motor

My drive system keeps breaking the 1 1/2 inch 1/4-20 grade 8 bolts which holds the gear pack to the end of the square axle tube. Mine has an axle going to each gear pack with motor at the mid point and the one that fails is naturally the one that is nearly impossible to reach. Something is binding and I have taken the gears and rails completely out. I cleaned them and replaced the grade 5 bolts with 8s. Any trick to finding out what is binding or otherwise creating the drag? Will additional torque on the 1/4-20 bolt help prevent it breaking?
