Some of these ads and docs in all of these Sleepcore videos may have come from 50s television, but many surely came from the early years of my life, which began in the 60s. I just love the idea of putting these together in themes, under the general motif of early late-night TV! It's incredibly clever. It's a perfectly quirky, retro version of ASMR programming. I like it! Relax, everyone; chill out; good night. 😴😴😴

I love these videos kind of creepy, but perfect to fall asleep to, it's like nostalgia for a time I was never in

It's kind of weird because I was around in those times..day to day life was pretty much the same as today (different technology of course). Stuff on TV or movies was way more stilted though but you never realized it. I'll bet 50 years from now media from the 2020's will look just as strange.

As we kids used to say in the 60's....Neat!" This was mind boggling stuff to us back then. Fun to watch, appreciate the posting.

I'm from Texas, and we'd never even heard if microwaves until the '70's . And then they were so expensive they were looked at as a rich man's toy !

Glorified frozen TV dinners! MMMM! That's good eatin'. 😄 Grab some styrofoam plates and plastic utensils, and it's a feast fit for royalty! Thank you for these compilations. They put things in new perspective.

Older microwaves were set pretty higher. The only difference is our standards have changed how we like things cooked. You can absolutely cook a lobster in a microwave. But culinary culture is reserved about it. You’re seeing the opposite with links like sous vide cooking. Most of the reason is mi to waves only heat the water molecules esenteally steaming everything from the inside out and breaking down cell walls. But y’all know you still want that crisp crunch and structure and juiceiness,Convention does do that as well

Everytime I try to heat up something on bread,but and or biscuits my bread always get hard and under heat it winds up with soggy bread. I just can't win that's why I got married 31 years ago

Those early microwaves were brutal. We had the first one on the block because my lazy ass mother thought she was buying a magic box that she would just put raw food into and be able to pull out a cooked meal a few minutes later. You had to keep a full cup of water in the back at all times for some reason. She was so determined that she ruined dozens of roasts, steaks, turkeys, you name it trying to get the magic box to work. It boiled water in seconds. My dad finally put his foot down because she kept serving us inedible shoe leather.

@@RedSiegfried Only thing I've found it's good for is making a sausage stew... dump a bag of frozen vegetables into a pot with a can of V-8 juice, a can of stewed chopped tomatoes, add taters or onion and seasonings as you like, and cut up a link or two of Eckrich (or your favorite brand) loop sausage into bite-size chunks and bring it to a boil then reduce to a simmer for about an hour... It's pretty good. Otherwise, V-8 is a "NOPE!" OL J R :)

Evidently it didn't work that great or it would be... I reckon it used the "hovercraft" effect by venting the air from the vacuum cleaner motor through a metal skirt around the bottom... which of course the added load on the motor probably restricted the airflow enough that it didn't vacuum worth a rip, and the vented air probably drove dirt right back down into the carpet it "floated over"... Oh well back to the drawing board... OL J R :)

I convinced my Grandma (Dad's mom) that my other grandmother (Ma-ma, or mom's mom) had a "ride on vacuum cleaner" to save time cleaning her house... Grandma said, "Oh, I know she does... they live like rich folks!" Course I was making it all up and she realized that once I asked her if she wanted a ride-on broom... LOL:) (Grandma used to push my buttons, so I pushed hers...) Later! OL J R :)

Right. First Im watching what astronauts will dine on, consisting of cuisine meals. Taste tested by professionals in a laboratory in Houston. Then Im watching them trying to get Tang in their mouth without having it float all over the place. I'd be happy just to not get so much BS in my ear.

The Shuttle External Tank got up over 400 degrees on the nose cone during its flight though the atmosphere... the Apollo capsule boost protection cover was covered with a layer of cork, because it got up over about 500 degrees flying through the lower atmosphere. That's why spacecraft usually have some sort of protective cover over them (satellites are usually enclosed in a jettisonable fairing) which provides protection from the atmospheric heating of the spacecraft on ascent, as well as making it streamlined (nose cone). Once it's above about 40-50 miles high the air is SO thin that the heating and air resistance is virtually nil... At that altitude most spacecraft are only about 4,000 mph or so, out of 17,500 needed to reach orbit, so MOST of their acceleration to orbital velocity occurs well after they're out of the "sensible atmosphere". Remember too that 90% of Earth's atmosphere lies in the first 20 miles above the Earth's surface. The other 10% is above that and most of that is right above the 20 mile altitude... On the other hand, vehicles returning from space are travelling a minimum of 17,500 mph (orbital speed) or thereabouts, and on a lunar return are doing 25,000 mph. They slow down using the atmospheric drag to convert momentum (speed) into waste heat, same way your car brakes work by using rotors and pads to convert momentum into waste heat dumped to the atmosphere as the brakes cool. Spacecraft use a "retrofire burn" to slow down a bit, but basically all it does is lower the lowest point of the orbit (perigee) until it intersects with the atmosphere at some point. Spacecraft can't carry enough fuel to slow down completely with rockets-- it would take as much fuel as it took to put them up there to begin with! Because of the extreme speed, the spacecraft gets extremely hot, up to 4,000-5,000 degrees F during reentry, as the speed converts into waste heat. That is the purpose of a heat shield-- to protect the spacecraft from that extreme heat, either by ablation (burning away) or insulation (shuttle tiles) or both. Later! OL J R :)
