The difference between a key change and an octave change is how much of a change in notes it is. An octave change takes the same note and transposes it up to the next octave which is 8 notes higher or lower. A key change only changes the notes by 1 or 2 notes and normally the whole band will follow with the change. An octave change will normally have the vocals change notes while the band keeps the same. Sleep Token will take the masks off and chat with a couple fans after shows, but because they’re just random dudes with minimal social media presence- nobody recognizes them and it’s VERY hard to look them up.

Twelve Foot Ninja has been doing genre mixing with metal for years if you’re curious. Their tone is a lot more comedic though but they still have a lot of bangers. I’d recommend starting with their song Vanguard or Mother Sky

God I just love this band. They're so dynamic. They can go HARD, but they understand melody and know where to put both. The solo and outro is simple genius. Their drummer is one of the best ever. Just an amazing band. The Night Does Not Belong To God is one of my favorites from them. It's so melodic, but the polyrhythm just hits my soul.

More exposure?!!! How much exposure do they need?!!! They were scheduled for a show at the Fillmore in Silver Spring MD but for some reason it was cancelled the day of the show. The very next day them and two other bands played an unexpected show at Baltimore Soundstage in Baltimore. The show was packed and it was a Wednseday. They have all the exposure they need.

A little more music theory: key change vs out of key chords (non-diatonic). Key change is when the whole key is shifted and stays that way for an amount of time. When notes/chords are out of key, that isn't necessarily a key change, but are non-diatonic chords/notes being used to add color and tension to a movement. Sleep Token does both :) btw, the root of a key, like A in A Major, is called the "tonic", so "diatonic" notes are all notes in that key, "dia-" meaning "through," "throughout," or "completely". So all diatonic notes are notes throughout the key of the tonic note. The more you know! 🌟🌈

There's like 6 songs in this one piece. Supremely elegant and melodic. This is in that category of the highest order of music. You want to inhabit it, never leave it.

They do change keys in this song along with polyrhythm and other crazy shit but his singing is just switching from his chest voice to his head voice or maybe falsetto ;) and the contrast is incredibly beautiful.
