Sled Pull and Awards Banquet -Diesel Power Challenge 2016
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
On the final day of Diesel Power Challenge 2016 powered by XDP, each of our 10 competitors hooked their truck to the pulling sled, and attempted to drag it as far as possible across a hard-packed-mud track at Adams County Fairgrounds. After the final pull, we wrapped-up the weeklong competition with a banquet, where specialty awards were presented, podium finishers named, and 2016’s Diesel Power Challenge champion was crowned.
Starting October 10, 2016 exclusively on the Motor Trend Channel, host Brian Lohnes takes you through our weeklong torture test that features 6 competitive events, 10 trucks, and 16,438 combined horsepower and torque at the rear wheels. We push Cummins, Duramax, and Power Stroke-powered trucks well beyond their limits in this search for the ultimate diesel truck and driver.

The black 6.7l Powerstroke is the true winner, was the most reliable overall with the fewest performance parts.

The 7.3 is great for light mods and nearly infinite reliability. But power? Yeah, no. For a first gen 7.3 like mine, minor mods only take it to about the same power level as the early 6.0. Of course, the 6.0 would blow up and be towed home by the 7.3

YES 7.3 only way to go. my dad bought a 2003 last year from a guy at the claycomo plant who retired and built it optioned out for himself. 50k on the clock. its badass, full cat delete exhause, chipped. intake . badass. plus Super ez to work on

Please, please, give Ms Epp the opportunity to rebuild and get back in 2017. She is an awesome competitor to watch. Anyone willing to detonate is someone I would gladly watch day in day out. Thanks Diesel Power..... Maybe one year you could allow a international truck to enter the comp. I'd love to bring my Patrol over to play. Thanks guys, I look forward to this and Tough Truck Challenge every year. Awesome work.
Some guy who didn't have the latest expensive parts but just knew how to build and drive a truck won. That is justice. Glad to see the system work for once.
Too much freedom in one video!
Kelsie still got 4th place? Holy shit on 7 cylinders. You better move when you see chick in a duramax, cause she won't be playing around haha
I love all the critical comments from the folks who are ignorant about internal combustion engines. Here's a little bit of knowledge and insight for you folks; when you're making as much power as a 15 liter Caterpillar engine with the relatively small 6-7 liter engines that are in these trucks, shit's gonna break. Period. There's not an aftermarket part on the market that will stand up to this much power being repeatedly pumped through it. Unless, you're gonna drop a class-8 spec Allison or Eaton Fuller transmission in it and comparable driveline components, things are going to come apart. So, now you all know. You're welcome.

I didn't now this but I'm not gonna say I knew either. Thanks for the info but common sense these trucks aren't meant for this just as a Toyota supers doesn't have to be 1000hp but it is. These trucks are for diesel heads who want to do the extreme and make monsters. Who cares about the small talk comments they're everywhere nowadays. I'm just enjoying the sound of beautiful engines and turbo spools.

Good job Charlie Keeter! I was hoping for Ray McClelland to place a little higher because he lives less than an hour from me in New Castle but he took 3rd and time place in the top 3 among so many great trucks and great people is awesome. Great job to everyone who participated in the 2016 Diesel Power Challenge!
Miller needs to be brought back. These guys these year worked hard I won't try and take that from them but they disappointed me. No one put the time and effort into their truck like Miller did to ensure a not only powerful animal, but no broken parts when it was crunch time. None of these trucks have the capability to dethrone the enforcer, I want to meet the truck that does.

Charlie Keeter is the most ideal driver for Nascar. I would be surprised if he hasn't been offered to join a team. His name and dialect are perfect. Imagine it's the Daytona 500 and Keeter wins. At the winners circle he gives his reasons. Well my crew really had my back. We put some tape on the front end. Car just went strong.
Glad to see Hootie still working after the blowfish break up.

Glad to see a Ford 6.0 show it up this year.
Absolutely Great Event!!!!
how come every cummins owner looks like he has dated a cousin
Between this and the Top Truck challenge it seems like more and more people break each year as the years go by. Parts companies slacking in product reliability? Did they figure out if they build a sturdy and reliable part they wont sell as many? What do you guys think?
@videowsatcher
7 жыл бұрын
its not just trucks but all things like white goods, TVs,.... It seems they have a short service life built in, and then parts supply runs out quickly once the model is no longer produced (I speak from my own experience).
DPC kinda sucked this year. Need more manual trucks, or bring back Levon Miller
8:51 "They've completely killed one hole"
first really supprist how good Ferguson truck was on the sledpull and after seeing the dragrace im impressed by the GMC in the sledpull, it was in really bad shape but still a nice pull love to see that one back when its healty (and love the colur green so the GMC is the best looking)
Should be a tug pull in this competition.
6.7 power stroking yeah baby
Great job Motor Trend. You sent them to a high altitude location and told them to floor it. No shit they broke their trucks. Couldn't have chosen a better location? They should make you pay for their repairs.

damn I got the same exact truck as him, maybe one day I'll have mine running like his
use bloody oil restrictors for the oil inlet on the turbos and you wont have so much smoke when you run high load and high boost. simple stuff stops big problems sometimes.
I think they should have to be Street legal
Cada acelerada é 1ºC na atmosfera a mais
with all the trucks breaking i was starting to think this was roadkill
Really love this series. Really need to leave KJ Jones off camera next year. We don't need a chubby Darius Rucker recapping for us on things we've just seen
I'm actually quite amazed at how high some of these trucks were revving. It almost sounds like Nathan Stacy's truck was revving to 5000 rpm. I also think that this year's competition shows that the 6.0 powerstroke is no slouch if you work with it.

lol a 550d doesn't make 800ftlb of torque. It's a lot harder to rev a 6.7L diesel with a huge stroke in it compared to a 3.0L diesel.
That Power Stroke whooped that Ass.
"Yes sir".
Its kind of sad to see the trucks trailered in with lots of breakages this year the cool thing about modding diesel trucks is you can still use them every day when you have to have another diesel truck to tow them around with it loses sopme magic for me.
lul, they use trucks to haul trucks, last challange almost every single one of them broke down, talkin about reliability, something they decided isn't important in diesel challange. It's neat to see them slap some turbos and lift those trucks, but it's worthless if all they can do is 1.5 dyno pulls.

JIGA BACHI it's part of diesel power challenge, you can go balls out and you'll get more points but potentially break your truck, or you can ease up on it and not get as many points but you're almost 100% going to finish, it's a tradeoff. I promise under normal driving conditions these trucks would be completely fine, you it takes a bottle of nitrous and the load of a giant ass sled to break something on your truck, you're doing something right:
@stanislavs2661

Because of 3/5 were townig challanges I just assumed that thay may also be testing trucks for doing what these trucks were originally meant to do - some actuall work. And some of them didn't even handle a single run, it's not very entertaining to watch, though I was interested in that dodge that was going strong without NOS, but it broke down too, lol. There has to be some penalty for breaking down or something, otherwise it's a challange of "Who brought more spare parts with them challenge 2016", let them make less power, but be reliable, that would actually be impressive because more thought, work and engineering would have to go into making such truck. Then maybe they could add a more tecnical, in-depth video of how they achieved such result etc...
@TheTmaaan55

It's true that a sled pull is testing their "usefulness" as a truck, but you have to remember that a sled like that is taxing for a freaking semi. Much less a pickup.

Can we get the "Bring back Lavon Miller" chants going?
much better than formula 1. thx u
Charlie Keeter does it without mirrors because winners never look back.
