I saw first hand caretakers and home health care people from the state of Minnesota with houses and garages stuffed full, including vehicles. Then selling from the hoards of things they 'acquired ' after their vulnerable clients death. Nothing happened or changed when I reported it.

They were trying to protect one of their own in Marlboro county but with the outcry from viewers like you and Jody on the case, it forced SLED to act. They couldn’t ignore the video evidence of theft. The body wasn’t even cold yet before the vultures descended on the helpless widow.

unless, of course, they are honest. Honest people are easy to investigate, charge, and railroad because they are not hiding things from people. But let this situation be a warning to all. Your family--every family--has thieves in it who would steal from your estate so fast your body won't even be cold. Don't leave cash, jewelry, firearms, etc laying out for them. Do not trust family. That means nothing these days.

Why did this take so long to arrest in this case? 2 1/2 years? Video proof, really?

We have went down the rabbit hole as a society. I had a friend that actually passed away going upstairs to his apartment, EMTs worked on his for 20 minutes before declaring him dead under the eyes of all his neighbors. Within 15 minutes all his neighbors completely gutted his apartment and also stole his car. The wife and I were shocked that people would do something like that! We as a society are hitting rock bottom.

Who´s money did they pay the bond with? Ppl like that make me sick to my stomach!

When public officials betray the public trust they deserve double the maximum penalty a citizen would face with no chance of parole.

Is shameful how long it took to investigate the theft of this property from this guys death, from a woman suffering from physical disabilities. Wonder how much was taken that wasn't discovered. The problem was that there was corruption with public officials involved in this issue, who should be charged double of any normal charges.

Ms Hood is a sweetheart. Good on her for holding these crminals accountable.

Thank goodness for the caretaker. These thief’s should be jailed for years, as well as the prosecution that took so long to bring charges.

This series in particular has inspired me to take videos of my household and that of my mother who is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s every six months or so. I’m still floored by their callous acts that day.

I find this very disheartening as my sister retired from sled a few years before she passed. I have always held this agency in high regard. The last few years have revealed some troubling occurrences from thism, including the arrest of an innocent hemp farmer and the illegal destruction of his crop. It's unfortunate that this agency suffers from rampant corruption like so many others.

Thank you for exposing officers of the court they are rotten to the core. My hope is more and more of us will continue doing the same now that it's gaining ground, and that the very ones claiming to be the good guy are worse then most of us in the world are today. Good people exist and the bad ones want us dead or locked up to shut us up. I'm truly grateful for all you do and appreciate it very much.

Hopefully, the family has justice with sentencing of 30 to 40 year's for all involved

To be honest they probably won't end up in jail, but the family will in fact sue the department/state for this and receive just an insane amount of money in a settlement. As part of the settlement they won't have to admit any wrongdoing and this will get brushed under the rug and the thieves will keep whatever they stole and everyone will move on. That is just how this works.

I have been following this story from the beginning! Great news!

My Dad died in a small town, Deputies were called to check on him then found him. When I got there all his guns and artwork were gone. When I called the Sheriff's office twice to make a report, different deputies QUICKLY responded "there is No gun Registration, so you can't prove it". I watched my back while I was in that town taking care of his affairs.

Absolutely disgusting... I remember this story from two years ago thinking to myself who the hell Would literally steal from a dead man... I get it... the guy is dead ... But his wife was in the house And they carried out boxes of stuff... That's more than just disrespect... It's absolutely disgusting... And any one defending them think of it this way... Let's say you die tomorrow And then someone comes in and p***** on your corpse.... How are you gonna feel about that? Essentially that's what they did... They didn't even wait for the body to get cold before they started looting... Every single one of them Should be put in jail And each of them should pay The same type of fine To that man's widow So she can get the care she needs... I say teach them a lesson! Judge if you're reading this Give all of them a 30,000 fine for stealing,looting, breaking and entering... That's essentially what they did when they broke into the truck even if they Got the keys from the house They still willingly Went inside without permission

This happens all the time. It's surprising how many people do this from housecleaners, cops, neighbors and even family members.

I went and read a story printed in a local paper in Marlboro County regarding this story. These people should be ashamed of themselves for the lies and thievery that they have done. They had no right to enter into that man's home and steal from him. They claimed that they took care of the wife, while they stole from her, doubt they did anything to help her in any way. Truly pathetic people.

The SC Attorney General's Office still won't say whether they've finished with this case. Things apparently move really slow in Columbia - the AG got this file in June 2022 - nearly 15 months ago.
