As part of the settlement they won't have to admit any wrongdoing and this will get brushed under the rug and the thieves will keep whatever they stole and everyone will move on. That is just how this works.

Absolutely disgusting... I remember this story from two years ago thinking to myself who the hell Would literally steal from a dead man... I get it... the guy is dead ... But his wife was in the house And they carried out boxes of stuff... That's more than just disrespect... It's absolutely disgusting... And any one defending them think of it this way... Let's say you die tomorrow And then someone comes in and p***** on your corpse.... How are you gonna feel about that? Essentially that's what they did... They didn't even wait for the body to get cold before they started looting... Every single one of them Should be put in jail And each of them should pay The same type of fine To that man's widow So she can get the care she needs... I say teach them a lesson! Judge if you're reading this Give all of them a 30,000 fine for stealing, looting, breaking and entering... That's essentially what they did when they broke into the truck even if they Got the keys from the house They still willingly Went inside without permission

I can't believe this case is still going on. These vultures were looting that poor widow in her grief and they're still not in prison, two years later? It's disgusting how utterly corrupt small town America is. Thank you for staying on this case and not letting these roaches hide.

They are hoping that either the widow dies and with her the case or the statute of limitations ends.

I went and read a story printed in a local paper in Marlboro County regarding this story. These people should be ashamed of themselves for the lies and thievery that they have done. They had no right to enter into that man's home and steal from him. They claimed that they took care of the wife, while they stole from her, doubt they did anything to help her in any way. Truly pathetic people.

The SC Attorney General's Office still won't say whether they've finished with this case. Things apparently move really slow in Columbia - the AG got this file in June 2022 - nearly 15 months ago.

This should have been swift Justice for the poor widow, but it seems like SC Attorney General cares more about a 'gang' of government worker criminals. Fact: you know this isn't their first rodeo. How many other widows have they robbed that were too scared to speak up?? I think the Attorney Generals boss should step in. Who overseas the Attorney General?

This is what journalism is meant to do; hold those in power accountable. Brilliant work and staying power from this journalist to follow this story wherever it goes. Power has the ability to do this to each and every one of us without a free press to inform us of what is going on behind the curtain. You bring integrity to a profession truly struggling with its purpose over its profits. Good job 👏🏽

Anyone charged with this should be suspended without pay and convicted of anything, never hold any government role again, make it hurt so it's not worth the risk. And yes i mean the same for officers.

How could they not charge him? It's not like the Judge had any legal or lawful reason to take the man's effects. That is theft and there should be no QA for any of this. This is a crime from someone who should be held to higher standards. Much higher standards. This is ludicrous and disgusting.

Jody, this is terrific journalism. It's a thrill to see justice pursued and 'bad guys' stopped. Been following this story since you broke it last year. It won't happen, but it's enough to make one hope for federal involvement simply because local law enforcement appears quite, well, corrupt. Your Queen City followers must be cheering for you, too. Mad respect BB from Montgomery 🙋✨👏👏✨
