The hardest they've ever worked was illegally destroying this man's crop, and it was still done as lazily as possible. @@bocephusbirchcull4044 What makes you say that? Every instance of the story I can find says "destroyed" and I'm sure Jody would have said "sold" if they had sold it at auction or something like that. Now, if you're saying they just said they destroyed it but actually snuck it out the back door and sold it illegally to their buddies or something, that's definitely more than possible and I absolutely wouldn't put it past them considering all of the obvious corruption, but I can't find any evidence of it.

If this man had just started the farm and was depending on the first crop to keep things going, by now he would have nothing and be working at McDonalds. @robertwoodliff2536 well there is way more to this that happened behind the scenes that isn't covered in this video that lead to the farmers crop bieng destroyed. To start back when the state legalized this the entire justice department was against it and fighting it legally but the States Congress passed it. From the moment the state passed it the Justice Department started plotting to find ways to go after the farmers who agreed to participate in this program. See this guy's farm was not the only 1 they had planned to destroy and they made a big production about it taking pictures and filming the destruction of this field so they could publicly say look at this evil criminal we stopped and all this stuff we siezed and destroyed. See if you payed attention in this video he was asking to be allowed to contant his lawyer and they arrested him not allowing him his right to contant his attorney telling him we are going to destroy this field and there is nothing your attorney can do to stop it that was a lie. See this guy was not the only farmer they planned to destroy that day they had another farmer who had participated in this state approved program they planned to siege and destroy the property of but 1 of the local cops present didn't like what was happening so he tipped off the other farmer of what was happening who contacted his attorney who rushed to a judge an got an objuction filed blocking the seizure and destruction of the other farmers field. As far as the farmer not filing the proper paperwork he got in a situation due to bad weather that when it came time to plant the crop the field he planned to plant it in was unusable so he was forced to plant it somewhere else and he filed all the appropriate paper work with the appropriate authorities. They in turned lied to him and made him believe all was well and even came out and inspected the field and the crop numerous times as part of the process. All the while SLED intentional never approved of the change of location so they could wait for the plant to be finished growing so they could make a big deal out of destroying it. And started plotting to do that such as asking the AIG and going to a judge in secret to get approval to do all this and they didn't like the answers they were given. See I watched a much longer video about this case a few months back it was like 2 to 2 and half hours long I think were it broke all of this they had discovered down in much greater detail. See the top Brass in Law Enforcement in that state and Nation Wide didn't like this being legalized by the State legislation and they had fought it the entire way and what they did to this man and tried to do to the other farmers who had agreed to grow this crop for the state was all just the Justice Department and SLED way of continuing fighting this and this farmer was just a clueless sacrificial pawn in all of this and there actions in destroying this crop cost this farmer all the money he spent growing it and cost him probably a million dollars he would have gotten off the crop. Not to mention the massive Violations of his rights and the stripping him of his freedom.

Hell, the man has a permit to grow hemp what more do you need ? I smell a personal vendetta here for undisclosed reasons.

All they had to check was, if it was simply in a different field but not exceeding the licensed size of the crop, and still on the same property, there should be no problem. Every farmer at some stage has to rotate crops and leave areas for a season without a crop to let the soil regenerate. This is nothing but a disgusting abuse of power.

Mark Keel needs to find other employment quickly before he loses what little reputation he has left. After this mess is settled, the public is going to remember how suspicious and untrustworthy he is acting. Trying to move events outside of the spirit of the law is what everyone is looking at right now. It's interesting how a man will jeopardize his income, reputation, and family well-being, to say nothing of his colleagues' respect. Mr. Keel, this is not going to go away. It will not be business as usual afterward either.

The bottom line is that they admitted their intent to destroy it when they arrested him, and premeditatively amassed the tools and resources to do so. They should've gotten far worse than a fine and a slap on the wrist. Since they love destroying vegetation for the public good so much they should all be chained together pulling weeds in the public square, along the interstate, etc. until they've put in man hours equivalent to the cost of the lost value of the crop and the farmer's legal fees. And no milking the job either. Give them the same performance quotas that a contractor performing comparable government work would be given. Edit: And make them replace/replant the crop on their own time with their own dime.

Thanks for the update on this. I saw the first video on this years ago and still can’t believe that it’s ongoing to this day. They know they screwed up and they want to drag it out hoping the victim will get tired and settle for pennies on the dollar. I sincerely hope he doesn’t settle. Get the jury award including interest on the money he would have made off the crop plus attorney’s fees. Being from central California I have seen a lot of farmers get screwed over by the government and I’m quite frankly tired of it. No farmers, no food. Or in this case no product to boost the gdp of California

How dare anyone question his authority…the fact the chief waits until the last day to appeal, demonstrates his immaturity and over unfitness for the position in which he has been entrusted. Right now, he is being represented by taxpayer funded counsel…if he is fired, he (personally) is no longer afforded this protection. I hope that the farmer’s attorney goes after the chief and his assets.

The chief is obviously not a wise or moral man. You are 100 percent correct. I wanted to add that sometimes people who know how to "work" the legal system, have a tendency to delay cases, to further their intended outcome by putting pressure on the court system. I wonder if that's what this SLED cop did.
