@@MrMirack agreed. They wanted to change their sound, since with all these epic, 9 minute long technical songs fans at concerts were starting to get bored, and were alienating some parts of their audience with the complexity of their playing. They knew they needed to change and do something different and that's exactly what they did. The 90s were some of their most creative years, experimenting with different sounds and styles and some of my favourite songs from them are from that time. The bluesy-heavy sound they began to achieved is in the 90s is very cool imo.

Metallica introduced so many people to metal because of The Black Album, which should be a good thing considering how much metalheads hate it when other people don't know the deepest cuts from their favorite metal band. That album also influenced so many new metal bands and allowed them to have success due to the mainstream being more accepting of metal (Slipknot, SOAD, Korn, etc.) You can name any metal band from the past 20 years and they wouldn't be anything without The Black Album. Whether you love it or hate it, The Black Album is incredibly influential and unless you were a fan of Metallica back in the 80s, that album is probably the reason you even know about Metallica.

Slayer fans call him real, brutal, honest, but he's too chicken to watch a documentary that breaks the illusion and shows the truth that Rockstar have feelings, hardship, and seek help. James Hetfield going to rehab to save his marriage and his band was more metal than Slayer. Lars Ulrich crying as he confronted Dave Mustaine for the first time in decades about the firing was metal as fuck. Real men cry. Real men ask for help. Real men take their daughters to ballet practice. Kerry King is am insecure man.

I think real men don't care what other people consider makes someone a real man, but maybe that's just me.

Bro who raised you 😂
What song was that in 1:32? Lol
Funny he says I damn well better not be doing this when I’m 60… Guess what Kerry.
Exactly how I feel...
