Gary Holt was the best replacement Slayer could get. He's not just a guitar player (they could have chosen a 25 year old kid), he's one of THE guitar players from the old school thrash scene and he brings a lot of personality to the band. And they've known each other since the beginning. Now he's got two jobs. Which I imagine is pretty tough. Unfortunately he didn't contribute to the songs on "Repentless" (apart from the solos). If he had the chance to write something for that album, it would have been much better. The way it is, it's quiet boring to me. Sorry, but that's how I see it. Holt could've brought some surprises to the album. Maybe next time. Now it's time for a new Exodus album. A busy man...

Yea .... that was a little surprise piece of information. I'm skeptical they will get an album tracked in his 3 months off ... but hopefully it pans out. Exodus kills it.

It pains me too see my Idol and Guitar God Gary Holt doing interviews for Slayer and not his "baby" as he calls it Exodus anymore. Exodus is where he belongs he's never going too get any credit for doing anything with Slayer and Egomaniac Kerry King other than contributing solos and that's it. I'm sure the paychecks are a little bit fatter in Slayer and less pressure but still man seeing Exodus "grinding" it out the last 2 yrs without Gary is like Dave Mustaine writing an album then going out on tour with another band for yrs at a time. Gary is the heart and soul of Exodus...he just doesn't seem too care anymore it seems.

Well if that's his case as you say it is then why are the rest of his "Baby" band members sitting around waiting for Gary then to finally start on their new album? He should just say he's jumping ship and becoming a permanent member of Slayer, on the other hand the way Tom ( Araya) has been talking the last two yrs, it seems like Slayer are about to retire themselves, I think after Jeff's death, Tom is ready to hang up the Bass. Bottom line is Exodus IS Gary Holt, Steve Souza, and the rest of that band all said the very same things, soo really, like I mentioned above, either go back or quit I say.

Gary still IS in Exodus. They've made a couple of festival appearances throughout this whole Slayer odyssey and have another album on deck. Slayer just keeps adding tour dates though and a 2 year farewell tour is now going on 5 years.
