LA Pallidium 1987. I was there .. I remember the shirt. Goldenvoice, the ticket outlet had oversold the show. There was a riot on Hollywood Blvd. Cops on horseback shut it down outside the Pallidium. Yet inside... it's Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill, Kill of course from At Dawn they Sleep. So.... Slayer fans went totally insane. The interior of the Pallidium, which of course was all high class chandelier's and lite mirrored hallways, was destroyed.. and I do mean destroyed. Slayer had been ban from playing concerts in Los Angeles County for 12 years after this show... You can try to be more hardcore.. but you will fail

The only thing about Slayer to take seriously is that they are motivating and uplifting. In most cases that aggression is necessary to get the determination to do things like exercise, and for me its crazy exercise like long distance running. Last year I promised myself I wouldn't run another half marathon. Lo and behold after buying 3 Slayer albums I fell off the wagon and broke my promise! LOL

Saw Slayer/Testament in the early 90s in Tampa, everything was fine til testament finished their set, the slayer hit the stage playing the opening notes to Anger of Death... The whole place went berzerk and 200 or so feet of chainlink fence that seperated the pit from the stands was torn down completely and we packed the floor from one end to the other.

You raise a very good point; a point that I agree with. Slayer will still be Slayer. I'm just anxious to see who they get to replace Jeff. Pat O'Brien filled the gap while Jeff was in the hospital, so it seems to me that he would be the natural choice, if not for his commitments to Cannibal.

I'm 47 and Slayer still reigns supreme in my book!! Forever my #1!! \m/ >.< \m/
R.I.P. Jeff Hanneman! death metal will never be the same without you
LA Pallidium 1987. You can try to be more hardcore.. but you will fail
one thing I can fucking say out of all the head banging concerts slayers concerts there are some serious fucking head banging
thanks for your efforts man, this is needed today more than ever
i feel the same way. i was born the same year and i love all the 80s stuff. i hear raining blood and ill start headbanging instantly till my neck is broken. i think all of this modern music blows
Too bad this band is gone they were awesome then and now!!!
Hey My names Johnno and i'm from australia i got to see slayer and megadeth together live a few years back, i just wanted to thank you for uploading this , you can almost sense the blood and broken bones being shattered from watching this old school slayer performance :p
im 44 i have bone spurs from the base of my skull to the middle of my back from slayer 1984 to present . to be young and grow up in san francisco in the 80's was the most fun any metal head could have .
I was fortunate enough to see Slayer AND Pantera share the same stage at the FargoDome a few years back. A metalhead's dream concert!

Thanx 4 posting. SLAYER!!!!
Awesome, thanks a lot for taking the time to post this!!!Really appreciated!!!
Amazing old footage. Gotta love Slayer.
I just saw them last month in Costa Rica, they truly haven't lost anything. Fierce, tight, GODS! One of the sickest shows Ive ever seen
i still have this documentary on VHS....those where the days:)
i couldn't care less for the current metal scene but i've seen slayer almost every year since 1989/90, so this brings me back.. funny how some bands don't loose any power and just get better and better. they've been in my coffeeshop a few times and they are very nice people. thanx toximartoc. Hell awaits!!!
Awesome. Time for Part 2. SLAYER!!!!!
"I just have belief in myself" I wish the WHOLE world, would adopt this thinking...Every individual.
thanks for this great video
In 1:28 he said "...I'm not saying there's no hope" but at 3:28 he specifically says"... loss of all hope..."

somehow the camera operator forgot the drummer - but great stuff, thanks for uploading
Hell Yeah, I saw a bunch of great Punk and Metal shows in NYC and CT in that era. Venom, Cro-Mags, Misfits, Slayer, Danzig, Voivod. etc. Good times, very fucking crazy shows.
Tom arayas such an awesome vocalist
Lombardo pounding the double bass @ 5.30 , beautiful.
SLAYER gets the crown for being the most awesome metal band ever!
36 years old and nothing rocks my balls off like Slayer. Fucking great band.
I saw them open for Judas Priest that year 88 at Irvine Meadows amphitheater. Best show I've ever seen! I say that every time I see Slayer though.
My fist concert was South of Heaven tour, with overkill and motorohead at the Tampa Fair grounds! I also got to meet Slayer after the show and go on the tour bus, I was so shocked that I couldn't say more than two words to them, and yet I wanted to say a lot!
The song is "Raining Blood". As in the lyric "Raining blood from a lacerated sky".
At 4:02 tom invented twirking.
LOL

That's good. I'll have to use them for weight lifting although I don't listen to music when I weight lift. I got a race this weekend and Hell Awaits and Reign In Blood will be blasting through my I Pod from start to finish!

Hey! I'm glad quite a few I share this with are catching on! What I like most about Hell Awaits and Reign N Blood are their final songs Hardening of the Arteries and Reign N Blood. They both give me that strong kick at the end I might say!

miss you Jeff
I couldnt say it better. The key word is pure... My life was in the pit, now I only see zombies a gigs.
Can't wait to see SLAYER 😈 & Anthrax Tonight!!
just turned 43 and right there with you. But keep in mind Slayer was way way ahead of their time
Saw Slayer/Testament in the early 90s in Tampa, everything was fine til testament finished their set, the slayer hit the stage playing the opening notes to Anger of Death... The whole place went berzerk and 200 or so feet of chainlink fence that seperated the pit from the stands was torn down completely and we packed the floor from one end to the other.
my neck is sore looking at this
You raise a very good point; a point that I agree with. Slayer will still be Slayer. I'm just anxious to see who they get to replace Jeff. Pat O'Brien filled the gap while Jeff was in the hospital, so it seems to me that he would be the natural choice, if not for his commitments to Cannibal.
I love this band slaayyyyer
I tune in to watch a nice relaxing metal video and I get blasted with a fucking "The Vamps - Can we Dance" EP advert. It was the absolute WORST thing to pass through my ears, followed sweetly by the riff of South of Heaven. Instant rage to instant tranquility. Awesome
I fucking love this band!

Even when Tom's voice cracks, he still sounds badass!
My favourite of the four
Cool quote on the WASP lyrics !
I worship SLAYER since 1983 !
I am with you brother ,, it seem as if it was yesterday.I am 40 and a die very fucking hard fan of Slayer..Those times were some of the best, shows like FUCT, old COC, Cro Mags,The Vandals, well you know what I am saying.. Never thought that I would see 30 never less 40..
good soloist Hanemann!
yeah man timeless!
i feel you i'm born in 96 and all the metal i listen to sucked until i found thrash and i just wished i could have been borne back then
Toms vocals are fucking sick at the beginning in South of Heaven
the 80s slayer pits were the most violent t I've ever witnessed
