Mark Slaughter, wrote this song about his girlfriend from Highschool who passed away. He said that when got back home from touring, he wanted to get a hold of her. And his friend called him up and told him that she passed away. And her funeral was the next day. So, he wrote this song in honor of her.

I heard she died in a plane crash. Which is why some of the video was filmed an a plane hanger and they showed a girl (which is supposed to represent her) in front of a plane. Also they show thee plane taking off and never landing. I heard that many years ago.

Absolutely heartbreaking at the time the song came out- we all were teens and has a significant other and the thought of losing them was sad, so we could relate to the song. Especially those of us who lost friends at the time this song was popular. I myself was giving birth to my first born and this was the last song I heard before he was born- so this has forever been my son's song & he's now 31! So I feel old, but this is a classic timeless song. Great honest reaction!

I had the pleasure to know lead singer Mark Slaughter prior to the group, we sang in high school choir together in Las Vegas. He is an amazing person, something some fans don't know is he sang in a barbershop quartet with myself and 2 other members of the schools men's choir and competed in All State Choir in 1981, I always loved his ballads.

Song is about death and being able to move on. His voice carries the pain of letting go.
The singer was asked about the origins of the Slaughter song “Fly To The Angels” to which he stated: “That song was written about a girlfriend who I went to high school with. I remember I came back from touring and couldn’t get a hold of her. So I asked a friend and he told me he hadn’t seen her. The next thing I know, he calls me back with the news that she had passed away and the funeral was the next day. It was one of those surreal moments. I went to her funeral and it inspired me to write a song about letting go.
I played this song for my son’s funeral!! He died 2017 on Christmas Eve from Asthma !! He was only 29 years old!!! He was my only child and the song just seemed to fit my feelings!!!!!

It's so hard to say what my emotions are cause I am just so emotionless. For Christmas I didn't get any presents but I did make a wish and I don't really comform to commercial religion but I ask God, Lucifier, and La Muerte to take make my grandmother pain to be eased and at 1:27 am Christmas morning I finally got my wish, and prayer was answered and now I feel bottled but I can't wait to drift with my grandmother someday ❤
When he hits that word “pain” , you can hear it deep in his tone
Thank you for this one. I can't get pass the second bar before I'm teary. And when you lose "the only one for life", trust me you can never let them go. She's part of me, I knew she was gone before the Dr did because I couldn't feel her anymore. 😪
I love when Rock bands do these ballads. You can hear they’re unique voices. 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻❤️
Saw these guys in concert many moons ago and their voices were just truly amazing! His voice was so high, almost like the guys from Steelheart, that you couldn't believe what you were listening too.

Now their voices are shot. Sucks to get old.
True story....I went to a local bar back in mid 90's and there was a band i never heard of playing. I was at bar getting a beer n I heard the band playing a Slaughter song n was like damn...they do this good. When I got a look at the stage I was like holy fk...it is Mark Slaughter. He had throat surgery n before they committed to making a new cd n tour he wanted to see how his voice would sound n hold up playing live. Everytime they took a break he would grab a beer n just hang like one of the guys. Really cool dude. I seen them a few years earlier twice. Once they opened for Tesla n next time they opened for Poison with the Bulletboys Up All Night....banger
If you guys like this, there`s another band with this kind of sound and style. Zebra, "Tell me what You want" and "Who`s Behind the Door" are pretty good tunes!

@@leopitre7907 2 good songs lol and both of them were from the Nightmare On Elm Street movie. Love Kills and Time of Year
A brother of a friend of mine committed suicide around the time when this song came out. A bunch of us got together and hung out with him that night he found out and we must have played this song over 100 times for his brother. Later that night Stevie Ray Vaughan died after a concert we didn't go to because of my friend needing us in his time of grief and we played the song a bunch more. Every time I hear it it brings me back to that confusing night of grief. Great song for grief, nice reaction.
Slaughter is a great talented rock band. Spend My Life With You is a good one!!! They are worth checking out.
This song was released shortly after my grandfather had died. He was my everything! I listened to it while driving back and forth to college (6 hour drive). I could feel Mark Slaughter’s pain and it comforted me knowing I wasn’t alone in my grief. Thank you for sharing 💜
This one is special for me. Think of my late wife when I hear this song. Hard not to cry when I hear it now
One of the very underrated hair bands from back in the day.....saw them in concert, great show!!
It's funny you reacting to Steelheart and Slaughter on same day. Two of the highest pitched voices of the '90s. Up All Night and Street of Broken Dreams. Awesome reaction guys.
"Up all Night" is another good song worth checking out.
Was not a big Slaughter fan,,, But this song still resonates with me many years later,,,
They had some great material. But they also lost their guitarist, Tim Kelly, on Feb 05, 1998 in Bagdad, AZ from a collision on the highway. Kelly, 34, was driving on State Route 96 when an 18-wheel tractor trailer jackknifed and collided with his vehicle. Slaughter has released five albums and toured incessantly since its inception in 1990.
Haven't listened to Slaughter since high school. Love their music!
Its already 7 great song in a row you have reacted to. Iam impressed
This song came out right when a close friend of mine passed away in a car vs motorcycle accident. This was played at her funeral. Everyone was crying. If you get a chance you might try When The Children Cry by White Lion.

My really good friends wife passed away very young, we all knew it was coming, she had cancer, at her funeral he asked me to play and sing Angie ( also her name) by the Stones, alone, just me and a guitar... I wanted so bad to say no, but how could I? It took all the manhood, heart, power, whatever, to make it through, but I probably could've just cried all the way, everyone else was. One of the most awful experiences of my life.
Thank God you started this channel! There is no way you would have ever heard any of these songs. This is delightful. Thanks Brad. Thanks Lex. My brother told me about you guys and I haven't stopped listening and watching since, and he's almost 60! 👏👏♥️
Mark Slaughter another of those 80s band singers with an incredible voice.
Awesome song I requested this one quite awhile ago thanks for doing it. 😀
I listened to this song in 1998 when my grandma went and became an ange and the tears are flowing again.
17 years old, my parent's '79 4-door, 2-tone metallic grey Olds Delta-88 Royale (350-4 barrel, thing would GO). this song on The Wolf, 101.5 FM A gorgeous set of big brown eyes beside me with her head on my shoulder, My first real love. Miss you Christina, RIP 2019, and eff-you cancer.
Up all night Sleep All Day is another great Slaughter song that would be great to react to! Happy New Year to you both!
Love that you guys are doing the hair metal bands!
Awesome song !! Memories ❤️❤️🤟🏼 This singer has a awesome voice!!
This was always on my song list back in the early 90s, as was Heartbreak Station by Cinderella. Both bands (at least in my view) were obviously influenced by Led Zeppelin.
Finally! Been waiting for months for you guys to react to this one.
Love you are listening to all this music from my teenager years!! What great music!!
For me this is a total Banger that I forgot about and I've been watching the video since watching your reaction. This song is so we'll done and the sound is amazing, happy for being able to revisit this 80's metal classic.
This is one of my favorite Slaughter songs. After coming off the road from their first concert tour Mark Slaughter called his girlfriend only not able to get in touch with her, later he found out from a home town friend she overdosed and she died.
Notice Everytime they hit the high parts of these kinda songs you get that smile. Like it hits a spot in your soul that say omg WOW.
these 80s ballads take me back...
I got hooked first on up all night but then this song blew up been a favorite cd of mine for years now
R.I.P. to original Slaughter guitarist Tim Kelly, who lost his life in an auto wreck in 1998. More people should remember him for his great work on 4 Slaughter studio albums.

When Lex says “It sounds ‘Axeley’, they both had 4 octave voices. It does have that grit in the upper registers. There were a lot of other great singers in that era, doing that genre of music. Skid Row, Queensrÿche, Winger, Steelheart…

Another of the greatest power ballads of all-time.
I like the way LEX looks just smiled the whole way through that's awesome
One of my favorites
Huge song in the 80’s. 40 years ago, couples skate at Skateland. My girlfriend with her big hair and white skates and me with my black skates. Brings back a lot of great memories from high school.
I was 22 years old, just back from Dutch Harbor and hitch hiking from Seattle to Portland. It was the best of days, it was the worst of days
Check out Love Kills from Vinnie Vincent Invasion... Mark Slaughter was the vocalist, before creating Slaughter... It was on the Nightmare on Elm Street 4 soundtrack.
One of my favorite songs of all time!!
I have seen Slaughter many times in concert and it was always a fun time. I met them once and they were cool guys. This entire album is great. Burnin' Bridges and Eye to Eye are great songs with cool lyrics. Their later stuff is good too with songs like American Pie, Real Love, Days Gone By and Can We Find A Way
you can tell he's feelin deep when he whines out during the outro "eeeewwww YEAH" he misses that girl
I have never been a fan of metal at all but I always really liked these guys and thought they deserved more recognition than they ever got.
They played this song at my cousin's funeral. 16 years old. Died in a car accident. Wonderful song
Love this track
Mark Slaughter also did voice over work for Animiacs, Freakazoid!, Batman Beyond, and Rocket Power in the 90's and early 2000's. As well as compose music for tv shows and movies.

We played this at my sister's funeral. She passed in 1993 and loved Slaughter. This song will always have a special place in my heart.

Yep getting over someone close passing away. Flowers bloom in your name- Flowers in front of tombstone Stars at night shine in your name- Once again...down on the tombstone. Implies grieving and visiting day and night if one wants to perceive it that way. Very good song.
