The traxxas telemetry is a calculation based off of rpm. If you hold it with the wheels off the ground and run it up it will show mph. They make a gps module for the traxxas telemetry. So if the slipper slips more than accounted for then mph will be off same thing with different size tires.

@LegendsPizzaCo the gps as far as the app is useless, learned that a long time ago, I use the sky rc, it’s pretty accurate 🤙

Great video!@ I just got a Senton 3s, my first "fast" rc. I immediately installed a Radiolink rx with gyro, which helped a ton with control. Still gotta dial in my steering dual rate and end points, steering servo speed etc. Also gonna do some airflow mods to the body (cut some holes) Fun times!!

Yeah I actually turned my Senton into a monster Senton!! I made a video on it a while back, check it out here on the channel!! Cool install too, the Senton does lack a little stock, but it’s still an over all good Rc, any thing you can do to improve handling is always good 👍

Great video and very helpful since I'm in the market for my first 4x4 SCT. Other comparison videos yielded the same results. The Senton is a little faster but far less controllable and stable at high speed. The Slash's LCG and TSM make it far more stable and controllable while being nearly as fast. No contest. That's why I'm planning to pick up an Ultimate in a few weeks.

Definitely a wise decision, the ultimate does control way better than the Senton, the Senton is faster stock, however all you need to do is throw in a high speed pinion gear to make it faster and the ultimate destroys the Senton

Dan dyer not to mention it’s the same ugly truck it’s been for 15 years without a face lift. For the cost of an Ultimate you can get a losi Tenacity tt pro that will it it alive 🤘🏻

To avoid the senton catching air I cut some holes in the back window. Worked awesome

This is a great video of both vehicles,the Slash handled pretty well as far as not flipping over had good speed too, but I think the Senton with it's unfortunate lightweight aerodynamic body design could of done better had it had a little bit more weight on it, but that's just my opinion lol ! Yeah, I echo your sentiments, that's how I felt when I ordered the three heli's from the Mainland, but fortunately they all survived the transit to Guam, I think your heli will be fine, any way quicker shipping to you since your just there in the Mainland 👍🏻

The Senton's tire is designed for dirt. I had that same issue with it spinning out on the road. On the dirt though, it's a different story. Great video.

Great video! The gps being off sucks. Hopefully Traxxas can update the firmware and fix that. The senton being unsafe at high speeds to me is the bigger fail.. thanks for making this video.

Yeah the module being off was kinda of a disappointment, if it’s not accurate then to me it’s pointless, the Senton was faster stock but needs a lot of work to get it running even remotely close to the slash ultimate, to be fair though the ultimate does come stock with a lot of upgrades out of the box, might not have been a fair fight, the slash destroyed the Senton in the maneuverability and handling department which I kinda already knew would be the outcome, I’m gonna do some work on the Senton to get it running the way I want it to, as it stands the Senton is much better off-road it’s a decent Rc just not my favorite out of the Arrma 3s line, thanks for watching 👍

Arrma is pretty good about their statements, if it says 50 plus on the box you can guarantee that it's gonna do at least 51. And I have not heard the same about any other brand.

Interesting video. A couple of questions. 1.) How do you know the Traxxas app was off instead of the taped on GPS? Could the tape interfere with its reading? Any updates or insight on the speed difference? Ever do any ramp jumping or bashing with the Ultimate? Thanks in advance for your time and the video.

The Traxxas app is definitely off, as many have stated, it’s based off rpm’s, it’s ok for getting a good idea of a speed range but it’s not entirely accurate like your traditional gps which uses satellite signals for a more precise speed, tape plays no role in effecting the speed on the gps signal, that was just my way of keeping it held down on the vehicle to avoid having to take the body off each time to check the speed, I have however upgraded to a Sky Rc GNSS analyzer, which can be mounted inside any Rc, land or air and can attain speeds via 12 different independent satellite signals, it’s app based and is just as accurate and you can check your speed using your phone or tablet 🤙

For the Senton I used a spectrum smart battery 3s 5000 50c

Funny how your wearing out the battery on the senton. I can tell your a huge Traxxas fan.

Also put proline shootouts improves handling a ton but they grip so good it'll pull wheelies like swb monster truck

I can write an app that will show 50mph. At some point, straightline speed isn't a big deal. I have both a Senton & Slash Ultimate. Each are great rigs. btw, the gps should work fine under the lexan

yeah also wouldn't interfere wit hthe airflow :D i saw vidoes a mor@n claim traxxas lied about the 60mph he did 55 or 56 with a huge ass go pro pnut in the dead center in the top of tha car with shoddy i never saw in my life brand battery and got surprised it didn't go up to 60 other ones used a huge ass phine on the top of the car and surprised it doesn't went up to only 57mph which is nice since these gps modules are about 1 to 1,5 oz while a phone with a hard case on it which was sued is over 7oz imagine ym shoch the car wasn't as fast as claimed with a huge as phone strapped on the top of it :D

Wait isnt the slash just as durable for bashing as well or nah?

I have all the upgrades to turn my maxes put modded stampede 4x4 into a slash 4x4 but with ultimate upgrades. It will be like a hcg slash 4x4 ultimate

Do you think taking the body off would have helped the top speed run? 🤔 it seemed when it would get up to speed it would only lift up.

Yeah max throttle does cause them to catch wind, I thought about taking off the body, kinda risky though, a wreck out at those speeds…..

I put a slash body on my senton catches less air and doesn't parachute. I get 53 mph on 3s and with upgraded to blx120 esc i get 62 mph on 4s on stock motor

Yeah I noticed that the slash had less of a parachuting affect, I think the LCG chassis has a lot to do with that, the bodies are shaped differently too so that probably has a lot to do with it as well, I definitely think I can get the Senton to go faster if I could just keep it on the ground lol

You must have the power switch on low cause mine does 107 flat out with the exact same esc- blx120

I have heard if you switch the TCM out of the Traxxas and into the Senton, the Senton handles much better. I am wondering if you have tried this or thought of this ever and if you ended up doing the switch, and do the test again, which would handle better?!

You mean install Traxxas parts into a Arrma truck??? That’s blasphemy sir!! lol, No but to be serious I have never tried that and I think your talking about TSM right? I’m sure it would probably handle better if I did that though, it definitely wouldn’t hurt, that was kinda my point in this video, it’s not necessarily that the slash is a better truck just because it handles better, it handles better because of what it is, for example if I bought a 4WD Ford truck and then turned around and bought a Ford Raptor which truck do you think is going to handle better over all? Probably the Raptor, why? Because it is fully upgraded with better performance parts. Same goes for the slash ultimate, not only does it have tsm but it has upgraded tires, front and rear sway bars, aluminum parts on all for corners, a LCG chassis, and gtr shocks. The Senton has none of this. Doesn’t mean it’s a bad truck though I still run it every now and then🤙

Slash= more stable, better at the track, more technology, tough Senton blx= faster out of the box, TOUGHER, better hard basher and stunts, breaks less. Basically they are both awesome, it just depends what you want to do. They can both race well at the track but the slash has the edge there with better handling. They can both bash well, but the Senton is tougher , a bit faster, but less stable around the track. They are equal in my eyes.

I’m with you! I love the slash ultimate, it’s my favorite truck out of all of my collection, the way it handles on road and off can’t be beat, it’s a legend! But the Senton is faster stock

Try putting the GPS on the front of the Senton

That doesn't mean the traxxis app is not accurate. It means one or both speed testing devices are not accurate. 🙄

Put the gps up front to redistribute the weight

To be honest I’m not really sure, the Slash does feel slightly heavier though

well so what the box literally writes for 60mph Larger pinion gear/smaller spur gear combinations are for high-speed running on hard, smooth surfaces only. *With included optional gearing with 3s of course the one it's in will be slower.

both the senton and slash are not built for straight line racing, i doubt there would be much difference with them on a muddy track.. apart from the senton is much cheaper...spares are inexpensive plus you can choose and purchase what battery you require... traxxas make great cars... but so overpriced.. the senton is the winner every day....

Straight line racing was not the goal in this video, I was doing a speed run to see which truck is faster stock, that’s it, I hardly ever run my trucks on the street, unless, like in this video I am doing a speed run, they are made for off road and that’s where they shine, I think the Senton is a good truck for the price but on a track off road against the slash ultimate it would get destroyed, the slash ultimate it pretty much “race ready” stock, handling is the slash ultimates best quality, the Senton is more of a basher out of the box, it would take some upgrades to get it on the level of the slash, I agree Traxxas is in some cases overpriced but you gotta remember, the ultimate comes stock with racing wheels and tires, a lcg chassis, front and rear sway bar’s aluminum parts on all four corners, full telemetry through out, the Senton is bone stock and needs better tires out of the box

The gps is consistent and more reliable, I think it’s safe to say the app is off especially when I’m getting a 89 mph reading on my Maxx at half throttle lol

@@rcreviews9894 they use proprietary systems that cant be used on other rc,s. example their battery and charging system. they have a handful of motors and esc's that they use in all the their rigs. other companies collabe with others now to get the best system for the price. you cant buy their rc's from other online hobby stores, except amain because of lawsuits. speaking of lawsuits they have tried and have sued other companies for making a similar rc. hobbico, losi, associated, aarma have all been in court with them. they are super greedy and not as durable as they used to be.

Literally they calculate exactly what not to upgrade on rtr version so it breaks and they can sell you a solution i personally dont think slashes are as durable and tough (out the box at least) as there made out to be

though on your wallet you think arrma si different jsut see their parts prices evne higher than traxxas what are you tlaknig about and call traxxas as greedy you want their newer modles always comes with something upgraded the new starting 2s line got all the better suspension parts and some heavy duty elemants as stock when arrma gives you anything new even the expensive cars coems with 95% palstic parts which they know wil break in days
