To keep the onion skin intact to remove it, you're apparently supposed to orient it cut side up. Like with the tomato, which didn't cut through the skin lol so he had to flip it over.

My mom gave me one like this that she bought in the late 50's. It's a glass jar with a round wood disk that drops in the bottom. Has a steel cap and blade plunger with a wood ball on top of plunger. Works great!! Especially after 60 yrs.

if you noticed, the second time with the tomato I had skin up and it works great. As for the onion, I learned that one hit only, then remove skin then hit again to dice.

As with most ASOTV products, they work fine...for awhile. They know that people post reviews on the products after using it once or twice. But here is simply no way those blades can stay sharp being slammed over and over like that. Oh, and no...the Graty is not free. The added postage and handling is more than the product is worth.
