Hi this is Carl the landscape guy. Today we are on a construction site again and I would like to introduce this machine to you. The company Weber MT provided us with this paver roller free of charge for testing and even delivered it to the construction site. To Weber MT we’d like to say thanks for your great service! The VPR 450 can be secured against rolling away with this lever. The operating weight for this compactor is 108 kg and can be manually loaded and unloaded by two men, if necessary. This compaction machine is equipped with hard plastic rollers that transmit the vibration onto a paved surface. The rollers are maintenance-free with ball bearings. The plastic is robust and abrasion-resistant. That means that it can also be easily pushed over gravel to the site location without damaging the rollers. The paver roller is available in two sizes, 175kg and 108kg, although in this case it makes sense to use the smaller version. A special feature on this construction site is that we’re using it on the second floor. The paver roller enables a vibration that is not only gentle on the slab flooring but also on the building. Therefore this device is especially interesting for building walkways on roofs. Here, Belino negro paving slabs with a natural stone surface by the manufacturer RINN were laid. Laying slabs into sand can be better compared to laying them into concrete because rainwater can drain away through the sand. This is very important because freezing water can harm the surface in winter. These four cm thick slabs require precise and gentle vibration to press them into the bedding and create an even surface. The surface should be swept clean before operating this machine, so that no sand or grit gets between the rollers and the surface of the slab. The joints should be at least two thirds filled to prevent the slabs from moving. The Honda GX 160 4-stroke has 4.9 HP and should press the plates gently into the bedding. If it is too soft, the plates will not settle enough and the surface will remain uneven. And here we go. Here you can clearly see the unevenness before compacting. That looks good now. Here it is again up close with the before and after. Now we are going to level off this whole hallway. And I have to say you can see a clear difference. The surface is really very even after the first run. This compactor does not move by itself like conventional plate compactors. But because of the switchable handle it can be manoeuvred back and forth without any problems. The working width of 42 cm is useful for this job site. The larger version, the VPR 700, is 67 cm wide, which is particularly suitable for larger areas and large-sized slabs and also available from Weber MT. By the way, no slabs have been broken here during compacting and all edges are undamaged. After using the VPR 450, the joints must be swept with new jointing material and the surface done. Altogether I can recommend this machine for this application. Compared to compactors with rubber mats this paver roller vibrator works quite gently and the result is impressive. Many thanks to the team of Weber MT for the good cooperation again. In general we have had very good experiences with the reliable machines from WeberMT. I hope this video was helpful. On my channel you will find more landscaping videos. Thanks for watching and see you next time. I’m Carl the landscape guy.
