    That is a wicked aliasing pattern on the propellers

    A perfect flight, May I know what tool you use to display a map of the track when it was on the top right

    Did you set it to gain altitude through out the way points? awesome stuff btw

    Sean Joy Yes, each way point is assigned an altitude. I progressively increased them with distance in order to maintain line of sight. Thanks.

    Oh ok. Line of sight smart!! I noticed it climbing. was hoping you did that on purpose. Very nice plane bravo!

    Amazing! How does the manual stabilized mode exactly work? Thanks

  • @propgator5107

    APM stabilize mode is a self level mode. The onboard gyros/accelerometers are used to maintain level flight with sticks in neutral. Any RC inputs override leveling. When you center the sticks, it returns to level. It does not maintain altitude in this mode - only orientation.

    Neat! Any idea why it overshot on RTL?

    +CradyLab I was still fairly new to APM at the time. Even though RTL has a set speed, I forgot that if you have throttle above 50%, it overrides your RTL speed. I had it near full throttle and it was flying 60-70 mph (ground speed) as it passed through the home location. I think APM also couldn't figure out which way to turn (L or R) to start circling. BTW, your video production is amazing. I've only watched the "anti-vibe" motor mount test, but plan to watch the others soon.

    So i am planning on building a setup like this. I almost understand every aspect of these autopilot system's but what is the main component that connect's the computer or laptop running APM planner with the Ardupilot flight -controller? Is this the 3DR 900Hz telemetry data radio?

  • @propgator5107

    @propgator5107

    Yes, it is typically a data radio connected via usb to a laptop. There are a few choices of hardware and frequencies out there. ardupilot.org/plane/docs/common-telemetry-landingpage.html 3DR doesn't produce DIY parts anymore, so they're referred to now as SiK radios, though most probably still call them 3DR radios. Some replace the physical usb cable connection with a bluetooth connection to the laptop or tablet.

    It's been a long time and the SW has long since been "retired". You can find the settings here: plane.ardupilot.com/wiki/configuration-files-for-common-airframes-2/#Skywalker
