SkyTower in downtown Toronto could become Canada's tallest building
SkyTower, which is part of a redevelopment by Pinnacle International near Yonge Street and Queens Quay, could become Canada's first 100-plus-storey building if plans to make it taller are approved. Nick Westoll reports.

Toronto needs to tear down and redesign the waterfront, it's brutal how the crumbling Gardiner an elevated highway is separating it from the rest of the city. Chicago does it right with the waterfront.

Lakeshore Drive is essentially an at-grade highway hugging Chicago's waterfront. It is not any better than the Gardiner. At least you can walk under the Gardiner to access Toronto's waterfront. Yes Chicago has more spectacular skyscrapers, but Toronto's downtown core is more livable and full of great transit and amenities. If you live in downtown Chicago, you would need a car to have access to a decent grocery store, school, and park.

@@maxglendale7614 You can clearly see all the parks and walkable areas along Chicago's shoreline compared to Toronto, its night and day, not comparable at all. Toronto a much safer city yes, but Chicago wins the waterfront.

Nothing in the city should be taller than the CN Tower
@NicholasMoreau
Жыл бұрын
Agreed, but for clarification, this would be significantly smaller than the CN Tower. The first 95 floors would be 1025 feet tall, so 10 more floors would bring it to 1186 roughly. CN Tower is 1815 feet. But CN Tower is considered just a "freestanding structure," not a building, despite it being a building. It *would* be taller than EdgeWalk, the attraction just above the 360 Restaurant, which is 1168 feet.

It's not taller, the reason they call this the "talles building in Canada" is because the CN Tower isn't technically a building, it's a "free-standing structure"
If they are being honest about the prices, 1 mill to 4. That's really not that bad for a building like this, I much prefer this to those extremely thin buildings in new york with 100 stories and 60$ milliion apartments. If it were up to me though, 20% of these buildings floorplan would automatically be subsidized. That would mean less profit, but oh well you made a billion instead of 1.5 billion.

Tourists don't travel to cities in order to see condos. Most of these new builds are characterless eyesores that block the eye lines, without sparking any interest. Hubs outside of Toronto need to be developed. And the governments are decades behind in investing in health care because people can't retire to areas that don't have access to top medical care.

Another boring and uninspiring tower for Toronto.
Toronto should stop or at least limit the extent of foreign investors buying up property buildings/lots in downtown then charging outrageous rent for them which no middle-class Torontonian can afford so these buildings sit empty and collect dust while the investors collect their property paychecks.
Hey maybe you spend the money on houses people can actually live in instead of a monument to excess.
Guess its for the rich. Yet we have a big housing issue in ontario. Why higher our Cn tower should be the highest in the city. Once u build these high building it will block our view of the city even if we 40 min away from the city. 🧐😮

Looking at the angles of the Sky Tower from different popular viewing points of the CN Tower it's gonna be fine would make the skyline look more robust the real tower you should be worry about is the Frank Gehry tower that's gonna be right behind the CN Tower and would ruin most skyline views of the city plus it's inspired from garbage cans just like 432 Park Avenue in NYC that's gonna ruin the skyline for sure
