Skyrim: 5 Things They Never Told You About Riften

Ойындар

Skyrim is a game with no shortage of towns and cities. Perhaps the settlement with most notorious reputation however, is Riften. Capital of the Rift hold, Riften has become synonymous with the Thieves Guild and corruption in The Elder Scrolls franchise and is easily regarded as among Skyrim's most dangerous places. What the Thieves Guild doesn't control here, the powerful Black-Briar family does and it seems no place in Skyrim is less vulnerable to shady influences. However, there's more to this port city than meets the eye and indeed Riften is keeping quite a few secrets. So today we'll be exploring five things you (probably) didn't know about the city of Riften in The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim.

    It was Brynjolf that put the book there, and he even admits it. When discussing the new leadership of the thieves guild, he says, among other things, that he has ‘framed priests for murder’, but is no leader. Pretty hard to argue when he tells you himself I think..

    @@McPlayer8t It still feeds the idea that copies of the book are basically the equivalent of missionary pamphlets. The DB know they're considered contraband, and hand them out continually because they know that if they don't all publicly available copies will be destroyed.

  • @McPlayer8t

    @McPlayer8t

    4 жыл бұрын

    I disagree, at least on this occasion. What you say makes sense, but Brynjolf more or less tells you why it is there. Also, it is not like we see copies of the book all over the place, generally we only see them during related quests, and why would they leave a copy in a Temple of Mara? Then again, is placing an evil book in the temple framing a priest for murder? Only Brynjolf knows, and Brynjolf isn't... never mind.

    The Book "A Kiss, Sweet Mother" belongs to Talen-jei the Argonian. He gave it to Marmal to provide direction for a "Traditional" Argonian wedding. As we all Know, Hist trees serve Sithis and the argonians serve the Hist. So the wedding ceremony is in a Sithis book. There is a letter next to the book that is connected to the book.

The stormcloak soldiers and commanders all have powerful stories whereas the legion soldiers are just sheep that say we have to fight that bad guy that did that thing. Finally, I believe Ulfric and the Jarls he puts in charge have a better chance than Elisif to lead Skyrim into a better future, especially if there is another war with the Thalmorons. For the "Things they never told you about Morthal" list video that’s likely coming up, I found something new after 2.5k hours of playing: during the quest Laid to Rest, when you discover the plot by vampires to enslave the town, once you kill Laellete, I’d say most players end up immediately rushing over to Alva’s house in order to gather evidence. However, if you instead go to the Moorside Inn and talk to the innkeeper, she has a unique dialogue option where you can ask her about Laellete. And if you talk to Alva herself, she mentions that she knows you killed Laellete. I’d wager most players probably haven’t heard that dialogue.

If you go to the Treasury during the Forsworn quest, odds are everyone but Thonar Silver-Blood will be killed by the undercover Forsworn agents. Including Rhiada. There's a key to Eltrys' room in the Warrens on her body. She was his wife. She was pregnant. And she was murdered. But, did you know that's not just a cool visual effect on Bethesda's part? If you pay attention to some in-game conversations and lore, you are actually - in those moments - CONSUMING A DRAGON'S SOUL. Why would the player be doing that? What would a dragon soul taste like? And where in the lore does this fit in? Only the greybeards know. And they ... aren't talking. Or shouting. You get it."

    When I first played the game, I was often confused by the fact that the area riften is in is called "The Rift", due to my lack of knowledge on the holds being different than the major cities in each. What added to this was an old lady who would say "There's a rift in skyrim" which in my dumb baby mind thought that there was an actual rift which I would encounter, somewhere around Riften. This is added to my confusion during "Season Unending" when Tullius said gaining "The Rift" would be nice, since I thought there was a real rift somewhere.

    Actually there is a third pregnant woman in the province: Rhiada, who works at Markarts Treasury and is married to Eltrys ( the guy you help during the Forsworn Conpiracy quest). It's also interesting to know that Thonar Silver-Blood can sometimes be caught flirting with her: take a listen! ( Oh wait...)

    I'd like to think that "A Kiss, Sweet Mother" was actually given to Aventus by Cicero in Riften. Come to think of it, how could a mere kid travel from Riften to Windhelm alone. He prolly had help escaping the city and was heavily influenced into performing the sacrament. I think it was Cicero. But since as a Keeper, he is not allowed to take any contract to kill, he merely influenced Aventus, rather killing Grelod himself. And we all know we can meet Cicero going to the direction of Whiterun from the North. Why would he come from the north? Visited Dawnstar maybe? Or Windhelm?
