    Cool video I was looking at a 2006 Skyranger for sale. What year is yours it is a classic model? Anything to look our for when buying a used Skyranger? I heard replacement frame parts are quite easy to source locally. Thank you posting a good video and the area you fly around is awesome. Adios!!

    Thanks for watching. Yes it is a skyranger classic but cant remember the age of the top of my head. If possible look for a skyranger covered in XLAM covering and not dacron as XLAM lasts a lot longer. Also if one is available and your budget allows, try to get one with a 912s engine in, it cruises a bit quicker and you have more horsepower which is always nice. If your in the UK then parts are easily available from Flylight who are now the main distributor of the skyranger model.

    It is the 1st 912S powered skyranger classic in the UK & was built for competitions & has been very successful winning the british, Europeans and world champions

    Be careful when turning/low airspeed, as you always seem to be way out of balance

    Are they a wider cockpit than the Thruster T600N or the C42? I believe the C42 is 48"?

    +LEEDS8 I am not sure about the standard skyranger, but this one has modified doors to give a bit more room around the shoulder and outboard elbow so I think it makes it a bit wider than the C42 but I have not measured it as yet, but next time I go flying I will have a look & let you know.

    +Capture Aviation That would be great thank you. My backend is wider than the average bears so all the room the better :) The Thruster was fine but the C42 was better. I did wonder if it was possible to put slightly different seats and maybe even slim down the central tunnel to achieve a little more room?

    At the widest part which is where your elbows are, the distance from door to door is 43 inches

    That thing rotates in a hurry and it climbs like it's full of helium! What are you getting for cruise speed? I know that the 582 was around 70 knots. I would guess that you're getting a fair bit better

  • @captureaviation

    I cruise around 70-80 knots, I'm never in a hurry when flying and I only burn 7-9 Litres/hour so have a long range. I can also admire the views as I'm going along. I also navigate with a chart only so 70 knots is perfect for that

    @@captureaviation 7-9 l/h? I think our Skyranger with a 912 used around 13 l/h when cruising at 75 knots.

    How long is your typical landing roll?

  • @captureaviation

    @captureaviation

    5 жыл бұрын

    It depends on what I'm doing. If I'm taking part in spot landing competitions (which this plane is designed for) then it's less than 100m but just on day to day flying it's about 150m. Just depends on the airfield layout really.

    What's the top speed and range on this beauty?

  • @captureaviation

    @captureaviation

    7 жыл бұрын

    The top speed is around 115mph but you don't really want to be flying near that speed because 1) its really noisy 2) is very dangerous even with nil turbulence 3) it is incredibly scary, well for me anyway. I fly this plane around 80-90mph cruise. The tanks hold 60 Litres of fuel with the engine burning 10L/H at cruise so your looking at a flight time of about 5 hours with a reserve. They have managed for fly from London to Le Mans non stop before, but that's will minimal wind and a big bladder.
