It doesn't matter if you believe you train harder, have a longer season, have the most competitive league. It's simple economics, you generate a lot of money, you get paid a lot of money. NBA players astronomical salaries did not just fall out the sky. It took years to get to this point. No woman can complain about the gap, if they don't watch the WNBA or attend games or buy their merchandise.

Take your worst WNBA player and put them up against your worst NBA player and chances are it'll be a close game. Why didn't some wealthy women step up to buy these teams. That because these women are no fools. They know the league is bleeding red. It's a bad investment. The NBA players drive revenue, and get a percentage of that as their pay. The WNBA has been a loss every year of its existence, their league is not watched on nearly the same scale, their players do not drive revenue, and they are subsidized by the NBA. That is not a gendered pay disparity that is an interest gap, and a gap in value created vs charity.

The level of play is weak for pro sport, you take the last team of the third division of a European country like Spain, France or Greece and they would kill the best wnba team... We all know that men are faster, bigger, stronger but it's not about that, the problem is they dont compensate their lack of athleticism by more skills or tactical knowledge, the difference is even bigger there. They dont bring anything new or different to the game, its the same thing than pro men basketball but 1000 levels below

Its about how many people will buy a lebron james shirt compared to the best wnba player and how many shirt she will sell.....i hate when they say" but we put the same thing and put the same time of effort""". For me its stupid

I would actually argue that it’s nit that hard to dig a ditch but probably pretty difficult to engineer software and write code.

WNBA players get paid less because the NBA obviously gets more viewership, sponsorship, and overall media attention. That being said basic principles of business is why WNBA players make a fraction of NBA players. There is nothing to whine about here unless you want to blame basketball fans in general for thinking that watching women’s league is more boring than watching the men’s league because that’s just simply a fact on the account of the disparity between what men can do physically vs what women can do. It’s about entertainment for the fans and that’s why the WNBA will probably grow near the NBA financially.

Why is it the NBA's problem that the WNBA doesn't get paid as much??? I don't see a generational Talent like LeBron James coming out of the WNBA.... Hell I don't even know any players or teams in the WNBA or maybe I know a few teams.... Nobody watches the WNBA.... You get paid more when you start bringing in more money.. ... People forget these leagues are businesses..... These Guys these owners these teams these leagues are trying to just make money.... When you are making less money then the employees arent going to be paid as much..... Especially when the talent level is such a disparity..... At least in my opinion..... Make the league fun and people start watching.... People want to watch stuff they enjoy.... Obviously people arent enjoying the WNBA so change something..... I'll watch it if I find it enjoyable.... Don't beg the NBA to give the WNBA resources.... The WNBA needs to find a way to make money.... It's kind of like when a parent kicks out their 18 year old kid..... At some point you need to put on your big boy shoes and go make some money and not rely on somebody to pay for everything and give you resources.... You need to go do that yourself..... When you make money you get paid more.... So go make money.... Don't blame other people for you not making as much money as men in a different League.... Also the WNBA is the most competitive league??? Hell the NCAA basketball men's and women's are more competitive.... In the men's basketball we saw Virginia lose to UMBC.... That was the first time A 1 seed lost.... There were so many upsets in March Madness this year.... We the saw UConn finally losing women's basketball this year.... Even the NBA's more competitive even with all the super teams and stuff.... The Cavs and Pacers went of seven games the Cavs and Celtics went to seven games the Warriors and Rockets are going to 7 games....lol..... Heck 2 years ago we saw the 3-1 stuff....lol....when the WNBA starts having competition like that then I'll watch..... But right now you do not have it...... Heck NFL MLB college football are all more competitive..... Just two years ago we saw the Indians and cubs go to 7 games in the World Series..... In college football we see upsets and dream matches and close games all the time..... In the NFL we have this amazing storyline of the Browns.... They had upset over the Chargers then they went 0-16.... And now we have to see what they do next.... When it is enjoyable you make more money...... It's obviously not that competitive if no one watches..... If it's competitive people watch and people probably enjoy..... Quit making it seem like the NBA is doing something wrong.... No.... they're trying to get the WNBA to stand on their own two feet

I'm not a misogynist and I don't play one on the internet. But this is simple mathematics. It's no different than how/why guys in MLS or the lacrosse league make a fraction of what the big four leagues make. It's not sexism and it's not misogyny. It's math. The NBA has a $2.66 BILLION per year TV deal until 2025. So before we've sold a ticket, a jersey, a concession, parking, or any League Pass subscriptions, that's $88.67 million dollars between the clubs to split EACH YEAR. By contrast...the WNBA TV deal is worth $12 million per year. Or $1 million per team. It's been over 20 years now. You are who you are at that point. Your fan base is established and if you don't like the money domestically, there are still options to play overseas like many male players have to do to keep their careers going. But when the NBA is generating 88.67 times the amount of money annually to broadcast it's league, you can't complain when you're making the fraction of money those players do.

You're complaining about having choices? Get that BS out of here. The WNBA has been around for a little over 20 years. Now go ask men that played in the 60s how little they were getting paid. The NBA is a billion dollar business that people actually WATCH. It GENERATES massive amounts of revenue. I wish they would play a scrimmage between the best WNBA team against the worst NBA team. Then we would see why there is a "pay gap". Gtfoh lmao

Unfortunately height, speed, athleticism and lateral movement is something these women can’t physically attain no matter the training. I still think they can be paid a lot of money but they need to leverage and grow their female fan base. If they can get women to watch at a significant level that’s where they’ll get their money. Then it’s a matter of HOW to do that.

We would watch tennis, gymnastics, beach volleyball because they fierce competition they maintain that feminine look. But the main thing is the NBA took time to get those salaries. Remember there where other leagues that failed to survive because they didn’t get the attendance or tv contractsor more importantly the best of the best players in the world. WNBA can’t say that. You can take the WNBA all stars against a high school all star ten and the WNBA would get destroyed. But if they want more money separate from the NBA and call your rich female business obese like oprah, Ellen and let them run it and negotiate tv contracts and promote on daytime tv when most women watch talk shows and soaps but the WNBA would have to shake that black butch lesbian image . Because they don’t want to see that

Haywood Jablomy it’s the age we live in. People can’t accept the fact there are differences between male and female. You can say, woman are really good nurturers and compassionate, and some will still flip out on you saying that you’re sexist. Never win in the day we are in. Men and woman have different strengths and weaknesses, whether from a creation background or an evolution background this simply even makes sense. It’s not as competitive so the league doesn’t make the same money, therefore the players get payed accordingly.

  • @Israel-nb7ip

Flippy 117 it's what I tell women all the time but a lot simply don't listen. Men and women are EQUAL UNDER THE LAW BUT THAT DOESN'T MAKE THEM THE SAME. That's something people confuse all the time, equality and sameness. Outside of small outliers, men and women are wired completely different physiologically and those differences are obvious and manifest themselves daily. It doesn't mean women should get paid less in an even playing field like banking, law, etc. But sports, where team and league revenues drive salaries and growth, you can't apply equal pay. It doesn't make sense and arguing this actually just works against them wanting to be taken seriously. Jalen Rose knows better than this because I ALWAYS hear him say in his podcast that in the NBA you don't get paid what you're worth, you get paid what you're in a position to negotiate. Jalen is a stand up guy so I'm disappointed seeing him pandering to a misplaced feminists' cause here.

How is it sexist to say men and woman are built differently therefore the women will never have an average taller height period. The average female no matter what will ever be more athletic and stronger then the average male, it simply isn’t biologically feasible. It's truly remarkable how inferior the WNBA is to the NBA, especially when you look at sports like women's tennis. In the case of tennis, the women put on amazing matches and there is little to no entertainment gap when compared to the men's game. WNBA looks like a bunch of middle schoolers running around on the playground. This next statement is not an exaggeration( I actually thought it through with my buddy who's a Bball fan): For me to watch all 34 WNBA games from start to finish and not be allowed to talk, sleep, or use my phone, I'd have to be paid $1500 per game, which comes to $51,000 for the whole regular season. And I'm only upper middle class. After one season, I'd have to reassess if it's worth interrupting my usual schedule or if I need to raise the price.

My question is who are the people in the NBA and WNBA who can't figure out how to market and change the narrative of women's sports.
